“DiNozzo, can you hear me?” Gibbs asked.“Yes, yes…boss,” DiNozzo replied, gasping to catch his breath.
“It’ll all be over soon, just hold on for a few more seconds and then it’ll be over.”
“I can’t do it, boss.”
Gibbs gently tapped the back of the man’s head. “Yeah, you can. You’re stronger than this, Tony.”
“Everybody ready?” the doctor asked. The people around him nodded and Gibbs leant down to whisper in Tony’s ear.
“Ready, DiNozzo?”
“Yes, yes, boss, I’m ready.” Tony gripped Gibbs’ hand and with a nod to the doctor they started to put the bone back into place. With a muffled howl, a painful squeeze of the hand in his clasp and a pop, the shoulder was back in its socket.
“Now, was that as bad as you thought it would be?” Gibbs asked, placing a kiss on the forehead of his Senior Field Agent.
“Worse,” Tony admitted, smiling up at his boss. With Gibbs at his side, he could get through anything – painful or not.
