"It looks like we'll have a white Christmas after all."
Tim spoke softly as he moved to stand behind Jimmy at the sliding glass doors of their apartment, looking out as the snow continued to fall.
Everything was covered in a blanket of white, and even though Tim hated driving in the snow, he had to admit that it looked beautiful. And there was something about snow that was also very romantic, he decided, nuzzling his cheek against his boyfriend's.
Jimmy half-turned to smile at him, his voice soft when he spoke. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" he said softly, raising a hand to gently stroke Tim's cheek.
"Not as beautiful as you," Tim answered, returning Jimmy's soft smile.
"Nothing could be as beautiful to me as you are," Jimmy told him, his voice barely a whisper. "You're everything to me, Tim. I love you so much."
The words brought tears to Tim's eyes; he blinked them back, smiling a little mistily at the man he loved. "And I love you, Jimmy," he whispered, stroking a hand through his boyfriend's tumbled curls. "I always have. From the first moment we met."
Behind them, in the living room, the Christmas tree lights sparkled; Tim could smell the scent of the cinnamon and vanilla candles he'd lit on the coffee table.
This was what Christmas should be like, he thought, another smile curving his lips. Happiness, warmth, comfort, and being with the person you loved.
All he wanted was for this Christmas to be beautiful for both of them; so much had changed since their first Christmas together last year, and he wanted to keep them both feeling positive. They were moving forward, not looking back. Taking things one step at a time.
They might not be physically intimate just yet, but they were getting there. Every day, he could feel Jimmy relax a bit more; he didn't think it would be much longer.
He hoped not. He wanted to be with Jimmy in every way.
Tim felt his spirits rise as he looked out at the falling snow, pulling Jimmy close to him, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's slender waist.
This coming year would be their best one yet, he told himself firmly. They would put the past where it belonged, and their relationship would grow stronger. They would walk into the future together, hand in hand, and they wouldn't look back at the past.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas," he sang softly, smiling as Jimmy joined in, the two of them standing in front of the window, their voices raised in harmony.
The snow continued to fall, blanketing the world in pristine white.
Tim thought that he'd never seen anything so beautiful -- until Jimmy smiled at him.
And he knew that all the beauty in the world was right here in his arms.***
