Mick leaned back against the pillows of Josef's bed, the bed that would soon belong to him as well. In less than a week, he would be living here, in Josef's penthouse. This would be his home; he would come here to his boyfriend every night.
There would be no more lonely nights when he would be by himself at home, no more nights when he would climb into a freezer to spend a cold, empty night alone. Yes, he would still have to spend time in that freezer, but it would be here, in this home.
Everything that he'd always hated about being a vampire suddenly seemed so much more bearable with the knowledge that it would be shared with Josef. Even sleeping in a freezer and drinking blood, which he'd never much liked doing, didn't seem so horrible.
Of course, there would be nights when he could drift off to sleep as he planned to do tonight, with his lover securely wrapped in his arms. They would wake in the small hours of the morning, and he would make love to Josef as dawn broke over the city.
He couldn't wait for the day when he would be moving in. It had seemed like a long time away, until the last few days; now that it was an inevitability, and he had started packing up some of his belongings, the prospect filled him with excitement.
At first, he'd been unsure about giving up his independence. But he wasn't losing his freedom; rather, he was gaining time with the man he loved. And that, for him, could never be a bad thing, Mick thought as he let his eyes roam over Josef's nude body.
He had never seen anyone so beautiful before, whether they were clothed or bare. With his clothes on, Josef was a very attractive man -- he'd noticed that when they'd first met. But naked, he was the most incredibly gorgeous creature Mick had ever laid eyes on.
It didn't seem possible that anyone so beautiful could possibly love him and want to be with him. Mick almost had to pinch himself at times when he thought about Josef, merely to convince himself that this was real, that his life wasn't just a dream.
Mick watched Josef as his boyfriend walked across the room, loving the way that the other man's body moved. Josef was so graceful, almost like a dancer in his movements. And that body .... Mick was almost salivating at the thought of taking Josef again later.
He loved every inch of that body; he loved the velvety softness of Josef's skin, the slender waist, the broad shoulders, the narrow hips, the curve of Josef's thighs. He loved the other man's muscular arms, his soft lips, his firm ass, his long, slim legs.
There was nothing about Josef Kostan that he didn't love. And he could see it all in the flesh when his lover was bare like this, in the privacy of their own bedroom. There wasn't anything left to his imagination; it was all out there in the open for him to view.
Josef had been a little shy about baring his body to Mick's gaze when they'd first become lovers, but now, he seemed to have no problem with it. He knew that he was an attractive man, but he wasn't egotistical about his good looks. He merely accepted them without thought.
Mick had never been shy about letting Josef see his body. Maybe he was just more of an exhibitionist than his boyfriend was, he thought with an inward smile. He knew that he looked better out of his clothes than in them, anyway -- at least, he'd always thought so.
And besides, in his eyes, being naked leveled the playing field, even though he did think Josef was far more impressive naked than he himself was. He couldn't take his eyes off his boyfriend's body when the man he loved bared himself.
It wasn't just Josef's body that he loved. It was everything about him -- that insouciant smile, the smooth voice, the effervescent personality. He even loved Josef's more grim moods; there was nothing about this man that he didn't adore in every way.
There were times when he and Josef didn't always see eye to eye on everything. His boyfriend would never see humans in exactly the same way he did; Josef would never be satisfied with always getting his blood from a blood bank rather than straight from the vein.
But those were small differences, in the end. His boyfriend meant more to him than anything in the world; in all of the ways that mattered, they were perfect for each other. Mick knew in his heart that this was the right person for him to spend eternity with.
Even if they didn't always agree, they loved each other enough to compromise in spite of their differences of opinion at times. Josef was a stubborn man, and so was he -- but for the sake of their relationship and the love they shared, they could always come to an understanding.
If they hadn't been able to do that, there was no way they would have made it even this far, Mick told himself. If his relationship with Josef had been as volatile as the one with Coraline, they'd have more than likely already left each other far behind.
Josef turned back towards the bed, giving Mick an unlimited view of the front of his body. Mick's eyes roamed up and down that slender frame, taking in his boyfriend's nudity, his own libido rising as his gaze focused on the naked man in front of him.
"Do you know how beautiful you are?" he whispered, holding out his arms to Josef. "Just looking at you makes me want to make love to you all night. All I have to do is think about you to want you in my arms. Nobody else has ever made me feel like that."
"You make me feel the same way," Josef told him, moving slowly towards the bed. "Every time I hear your voice, I want to rip off my clothes and lay down and beg you to make love to me. Do you know how much that can disrupt a business meeting if you happen to call my cell?"
Mick couldn't help but laugh at those words; he hadn't thought about that, but he supposed it was true. "Sorry about that, sweetheart," he murmured, shaking his head. "You might just have to turn off your cell when you're in a business meeting, then."
"Either that, or just not go to so many meetings," Josef told him with a laugh. He still wasn't close enough to the bed for Mick to reach out and touch him; Mick wondered why his boyfriend was keeping away, just barely out of his reach. Josef certainly knew how to tease.
"Why are you standing over there?" Mick inquired, raising an eyebrow. "You should be here in bed with me, shouldn't you?" He smiled to show Josef that he wasn't serious; if his boyfriend had a reason for being where he was, he'd reveal it in due course.
"I just thought you might like a look at the view," Josef said softly, taking a step back and resting a hand on his hip. "I know you like looking at me when I'm naked, so I figured this would be a good chance for you to do it. Like what you see?"
Did he like it? He loved it, Mick wanted to say -- but the words were getting stuck in his throat. There was something about seeing Josef like this, in such a provocative pose, that took his breath away, made him tongue-tied, and made him feel overheated.
All he wanted to do was to reach out and take Josef into his arms -- to feel that slender body close to his, then under his. He wanted to wrap his arms around Josef, roll him over onto his back, spread his legs -- and plunge inside him to unite their bodies as one.
He dreamed about Josef all the time, but no daydreams could compare to seeing the man he loved bare and in the flesh. Josef was a million times more beautiful right here in front of him than he could ever have been in a mere dream inside Mick's mind.
"I love what I see," Mick managed to say, his voice sounding throaty and hoarse. "And if you don't come here and get into bed with me, then I'm going to have to make myself get up and grab you -- and drag you off to bed to make love to you all night."
"Okay, okay," Josef said with a laugh, holding his hands up in a gesture of surrender. "I just thought you might want to have a good look before I'm under you. It's not like you look at me a lot then, is it?" he asked, tilting his head to the side, that crooked grin flashing at Mick.
"Yes, I do," Mick said softly, letting his gaze roam over that beautiful bare body again. "I look at you when you're under me, beside him, or in my arms. I look at you when you're naked, and when you're wearing your clothes. I can't take my eyes off you whenever you're near me in the flesh."
"Then you can look at me all you want," Josef said softly as he moved back to the bed, lying down next to Mick and letting the other man pull him close. "As long as I can look at you, too. Especially when you're bare like this. You're beautiful, Mick."
"Not nearly as beautiful as you," Mick whispered, capturing Josef's lips with his own. As his hands moved down his lover's bare body, he let the pleasure of being next to the man he loved in the flesh sweep him away, the need to become one with Josef taking him over.***
