Title: Untitled

Fandom: Law & Order: SVU
Pairing: Elliot/George preslash
Rating: PG-13
Summary: So in an attempt to remember how to write, I wrote a couple of the ficlets on my request list. Actually, the first one wasn't even on my list, but it was requested by hobbit_feet ages ago, so technically it counts. It's not exactly what she asked for, but it's my first (and probably only) venture into this fandom, and it's in recognizable English (though not necessarily readable), so I post.

He sees the doc coming, thinks about turning and heading in the other direction before it's too late. But he knows better, knows it would probably end up in his file under 'avoidant behavior' or some other complicated shrink term, so instead he takes a deep breath and grits his teeth into something that may or may not pass for a grin.

"Hey, Doc. You got any news on the Eppson case?"

"He's still under evaluation at Bellevue. But that's not what I wanted to talk to you about."

Elliot doesn't have to ask what he means; even if he didn't know the rumors of his separation were all over the precinct, he'd be able to tell from Huang's expression. It's the one Elliot always thinks of as the 'trust me' look, the one he uses on kids and suspects he thinks he can win over with a sympathetic ear. Elliot's tempted to tell him where to shove his sympathy, but that would get filed under 'uncooperative' or possibly even 'anti-social', so instead he just crosses his arms over his chest and forces a smile.

"Yeah? What's that?"

"You know how news travels around here," Huang says, smile turning almost apologetic. "I heard about what's going on at home, and I just wanted you to know that I'm here. If you need anything."

Just like that, no attempts to shrink him right here in the hallway or offers of a session to help him deal with his stress. No 'the Captain thought it would be prudent' or 'we've never talked about what your family means to you'. Just a simple 'if you need anything', open-ended, like they're friends instead of colleagues. Like Elliot could pour out his problems over a beer and Huang would listen and then slap him on the shoulder and tell him women aren't worth the trouble.

But it's the hesitation at the end of his little speech that gets Elliot's attention, the slight dip of the doc's head like maybe he's not just talking about a therapy session. Like maybe he's offering something else, something the captain definitely wouldn't approve of.

Quick flash of Huang on his knees, eyes closed and mouth stretched…and Elliot's not sure where that came from, but he shakes his head to chase the image away. And he's definitely hard up if he's thinking about asking the resident shrink for a quick blow job, because there's no telling what that would get filed under. It's just the loneliness, he knows that. It's just going home to a by-the-week motel room and staring at the phone all night before he gets dressed and comes back to work.

And maybe he is going a little crazy, but that doesn't mean he's going to do anything about it. "I'm good," he says, ignoring the skeptical look in Huang's eyes. "Thanks," he adds, then he's heading down the hall before he has a chance to change his mind.
