Summary: Based upon prompt 2: Memory.***
Jack is gone for what seems like forever. He died... then like a modern day Jesus he is revived (although Ianto suspects there was significantly less tongue involved with the resurrection of Christ! But then, that's Jack Harkness for you.) In his post death revival state Jack spends his time talking to Gwen while everyone else is sent away (like naughty children who aren't supposed to witness mummy and daddy arguing). Truth is they are all glad of the reprieve from the stifling atmosphere in the Hub. While they are out Ianto buys coffee from Starbucks (they have drank every scrap of it trying to stay awake while Jack was dead). Toshiko pops into the bakery to get some pastries and Owen takes a breather, downing a shot of whiskey before taking a quick shower. They return, and their world falls apart."Something's taken him. Jack's gone."
It's been forever since that moment, three weeks nine days and seventeen hours, but it seems like forever. All Ianto has is the memory of Jack's face, the memory of his kiss, his caress and his face during those few precious hours when he does sleep. That was his favourite memory. Ianto used try to stay up as late as possible just on the off chance that this would be one of those nights that Jack actually sleep, his face, so defenceless, so young looking... And then there was the nights when Ianto would fall asleep in Jack's arms feeling the safest he had ever felt in his entire life.
But even those memories could not sustain him much longer.
He needed Jack home, and in his arms.
