Notes: Written for the writercon100 drabble fundraiser. A Victorian interlude with Jack and Alice.

Alice watches breathlessly as lights swoop and curl through the branches of the ancient oak, illuminating it from within. Long vibrant streamers pass through spring-green leaves without disturbing them, leaving just the faintest afterglow in their wake. "Phantasmagoria, indeed...."

"Yeah." Jack is grinning in that infuriating way of his. "They're less here than not – beings built of pure electrical potential. Beautiful."

"Are they harmful?" she asks, ever aware of their duty to defend.

"No. And they'll likely fade with dawn." Jack throws her a sidelong look. "Doubt we could catch them anyway...."

Alice smiles and watches the lights play. "Good."
