Jack sighed contentedly, holding a sleeping Ianto close. Their lovemaking was poignant, a merging of kinesthetic and bittersweet memories with first times.

He understood he’d hurt Ianto when he left without explanation, and spent a year in chains wishing he hadn’t. He’d returned hopeful, but not expectant, of Ianto’s forgiveness.

Then Tommy Brockless was awakened.

Jack hadn’t meant to speak so openly, but with Ianto’s hesitant confession his reticence dissipated.

“I know you get lonely.”

Jack confessed too.

Then Ianto kissed him.

He threaded trembling fingers through Ianto’s hair and kissed his forehead with fervent gratitude.
