"You know Lisa was the first." Ianto said quietly, regarding his beer.
"Mmm" Jack said, trying to sound interested.
He looked up at Ianto and then looked away across the crowded bar. How was it that the mere mention of her name caused him such feelings of anger?
Ianto took a gulp of his beer. This was his third. Jack, unusually, was on whiskey.
"Not the first." Ianto continued.
Jack frowned.
"Yan, don't you think you've had enough?" he said, quietly. The guy was clearly not making much sense.
"The first, you know, woman," Ianto said. "You see, I thought I'd been wrong, that Lisa would make everything all right. My mother was happy."
Jack placed a hand on Ianto's arm.
"Ianto, let me take you home." He said.
Ianto pulled out of Jack's grip.
"But, you know, how ever hard I tried it wasn't right. Oh we had good sex, but it wasn't the same."
"The same as what?" Jack was trying to make sense of Ianto's drunken rambles.
"David."
Jack sat back in his chair
"Whoa, let me get this straight. Are you trying to tell me that you're gay?" he asked.
"Yeah, wanna make something of it?" Ianto asked, belligerently.
Before Jack had the chance to answer, he continued on,
"No you're just like my mother. Bigoted. Homophobic. Don't worry I'm not after you Jack. It won't affect my work. Never has, never will."

Ianto jumped up and ran for the door of the bar.
Jack sighed and grabbed his greatcoat from the back of the chair and followed him outside.
"Ianto!" he called. "Wait."
Ianto continued running down the street.
"Whatever happened to a quiet night out?" Jack asked the world in general as he ran after the younger man.
"Go away!" Ianto cried as Jack caught up with him.
Jack pulled Ianto into a darkened alleyway and roughly pushed him against the wall.
"Ianto I'm not like your mother." Jack said.
"In what way?"
Jacks lips met Ianto's in a passionate kiss. His full body pinned the younger man against the rough brick wall, his hands framing Ianto's face.
Finally, they came up for air.
"Does that answer your question?" Jack asked.
Ianto nodded.
"You coming then?"
Ianto ran his tongue over his lips, trying to catch his breath.
"I have some awesome leather trousers if you're interested." Jack said over his shoulder, as he walked away down the alleyway towards the Hub.
