Spencer watched his dismal gray coffee swirl and swirl as he stirred it round; it used to be a nice light chocolate color... hours ago.

Hours ago... hours ago, it seemed like so long ago, not just hours but days, months, years, but no, it's only been hours.

Hours ago, Spencer had still had Morgan with him, he was still happy, the happiest he had in a while.

Hours ago, the coffee was brown, the sky was a shade of morning gray with blue and purple and pink and orange entwined with it, the house was warm with a feeling of affection, a bond of love.

And now... now, the coffee was gray, the sky was gray, the house was cold.

Morgan was gone, he couldn't deal with the fallacies of the masterpiece that is Spencer Reid; the drugs he hid so well that Morgan could find them without trying; the nightmares that haunted Spencer in his dreams so much that Morgan had use all his body weight to make him stop shaking; the shell that Spencer Reid had put up around him to keep Morgan and everyone else out; the silences at night because anything worth talking about would only lead to another silence or an argument; Morgan was strong enough for both of them, but there was only so much that he could do for someone who didn't want help.

For a year he had tried; Spencer was surprised it had taken him this long to finally notice that there was no help in the world that would help him; the only thing that made him smile was Morgan's smile, but Morgan's smiles were fading; the only thing that helped him sleep was Morgan's warmth, but that warmth was turning cold; the only thing that helped him live was Morgan's reassuring presence, but the presence was flickering; and now, with Morgan gone, what was left for Spencer to breathe?

He smiled sadly and stirred his coffee some more, the dismal gray mirroring his emotions, the swirling imitating his life as it slipped through his fingers and down the drain, the draining color copying Morgan and leaving.

Hours ago, Morgan had given Spencer one more chance and Spencer had said no; he couldn't bear to make Morgan suffer with him more, he couldn't feed off his happy nature anymore.

Hours ago, Morgan left Spencer's life and Spencer had done nothing to stop him.

Hours ago... Spencer wished he was back there.
