When Lila Archer kissed him in the pool, he let it happen. He shut his eyes and considered how beautiful she was. How spontaneous and kind and determined. How brave. Her smooth skin and bright eyes.

It was true, her small fame would never pin him down just right, and he would never feel the rasp of stubble on his lips and tongue when he kissed her neck. But, oh, she would teach him the important parts, wouldn't she?

Lila was fun and cool and her smile lit him up inside.

She made him feel daring.

It was almost enough.
