Alone in the cell, he waited. He hadn't tried to run, he hadn't tried to make excuses, he just simply hadn't been able to go on, his mind overcome by the horrors he had witnessed.

As dusk fell, the chaplain entered his cell. The chaplain began to pray for the condemned man but his prayer's fell on deaf ears, neither the man nor God were listening.

The sun rose and he was led out into the bright sunlight. His mind finally began to flicker into life as he moved towards the post and his fellow soldiers waiting for him. He looked around in confusion as the medical examiner tied him to the post. His eyes took in the sight of the soldiers and he realised why they were there. He shook his head as the medical examiner went to place a white cloth over his face.

The order was given and he watched as six shots were fired, watched as each of the shots struck his body. He waited for death but it didn't come, instead came coldness, the feeling of his blood seeping from his body, chilling him.

As darkness overcame him he heard a woman's voice, it was a beautiful voice and the words she said rang in his ears, "Tommy Brocklehurst, you are my brave, handsome soldier and I love you."

Tommy didn't hear the medical examiner swear and fire the shot that ended his life, all he heard was a message of love from a women he couldn't remember.
