A lack of imagination is a dangerous thing.

Ianto knows this, because he never imagined that the woman he loved more than anything or anyone he’d ever encountered would be melded with a heartless machine in the most horrifyingly cruel manner one could ever dream of.

Ianto knows this, because he never imagined he’d fall almost as fast, almost as hard for a charming, impossibly handsome man, who, by the by, is severely lacking in a little thing called mortality.

Ianto knows this, because he never imagined the sight of Owen’s body, cold and pale and - and stopped, would tear such a particularly large or particularly jagged hole in a heart that (he had assumed) had already been broken beyond any complete repair.

If he had imagined these things, maybe -

Ianto could kill himself over this.
