As the SUV pulled away from the kerb, Jack fired out a question, "So. Yan, talk to me...what have we got?"

"They have a thirty minute lead and counting," Ianto replied as he checked the tracker.

"Is there any way we can catch them up?" Martha asked from the back seat, her voice full of frustration.

The sound of Ianto's laughter made her turn away from the window.

"You obviously haven't had the full experience of Jack's driving!"

Martha just managed to shoot a sceptical look at the young Welshman before being thrown back against her seat with sudden force as Jack floored the accelerator.

"Much as I want to catch them, I'd really like to arrive in one piece!" she ventured, hoping her voice wasn't as shaky as she felt.

"Have faith Dr. Jones," Jack grinned at her from the driver's seat.

Martha closed her eyes against the dark Cardiff streets flying past the windows, but the lurching feeling in her stomach as Jack flung the SUV round corners made her decide that seeing what they were hurtling towards was better than being blind to it all.

Leaving the city, they were soon on a winding country road where Jack took great relish in attacking hairpin bends at about 90mph. Martha noticed that her knuckles were white where they gripped the seat and couldn't help wondering how Ianto managed to look so unperturbed as he continued to follow their progress via GPS.

Breathing deeply and trying to ignore the lump in her throat, Martha shifted in her seat causing Jack's gaze to flick to the rear view mirror as he asked, "You ok back there, Martha?"

"Sure - now I've realised you're auditioning for 'Top Gear'!"

"Funny you should say that..." Jack smirked, but Ianto's protests cut him off.

"Oh, God, Martha, please don't encourage him." Ianto turned in his seat and rolled his eyes.

"You really don't want to hear his Richard Hammond story!"

"Oh, he's kinda cute actually," Martha commented, relaxing a little.

"Exactly!" Jack exclaimed.

"Besides, I taught him everything he knows about driving."

Sighing heavily, Ianto turned his attention back to the GPS as it beeped.

"Jack — they should be just up ahead, over this hill."

Sure enough, when the SUV reached the brow of the hill red tail lights suddenly appeared in front of them as if from nowhere and the Comms crackled into life.

"Harkness - you bastard!" Owen's incredulous voice filled the air.

"Gotcha!" Jack chuckled and did a little drum roll on the steering wheel with his hands.

"See you back at the Hub."

"Last one back gets the pizza!" Gwen and Tosh chorused in the background.

"Hold tight!" Ianto advised as Jack threw the SUV into a three-point turn and they thundered back the way they'd just come with Owen, Gwen and Tosh hot on their heels.
