“Hello tall dark and gorgeous,” River said to the figure standing at the bar.

“Professor,” the man smiled and swung her into a hug just as the Doctor and Amy arrived.

“Jack?” the Doctor said in surprise as River planted a ‘much more than an acquaintance’ kiss on Jack.

“Hello Doctor,” Jack said with a smile once the kiss ended. “Good to see you.”

Amy coughed and elbowed the Doctor in the ribs. “Jack this is Amy Pond, Amy this is my friend Jack, and rather more friendly with River. When did you two meet?” he frowned at River.

“Very nice to meet you Amy Pond,” Jack said taking her hand and kissing it gallantly.

“Jack and I met oh, sometime in the 48th Century didn’t we?” River said.

“I already knew about the fabulous Professor Song,” Jack said, “and the tales of her adventures. The Time Agency was never your biggest fan,” he added with a laugh that had River joining in. “They sent me to take her into custody.” Jack smiled fondly in recollection, “we ended up in each other’s custody for two days, and what a ride that was.”

“You were just lucky Liz took a fancy to you,” River said.

“Well she was going to take a fancy to me when she met me the first time,” Jack said with a laugh.

“Timey whimey,” River said.

“Wibbly wobbly,” Jack completed and they shared a laugh as the Doctor frowned.

“Is this another spoilers thing?” Amy asked in confusion.

“Afraid so,” Jack said.

“You can let go of her hand now,” the Doctor said irritably.

“I’m afraid it’s the other way around,” Jack teased. He kissed Amy’s hand again and then released it as she blushed.

“So what brings you to this neck of the woods Jack?” the Doctor said.

“A date,” Jack said smiling at River.

“This is why you wanted to come here?” the Doctor said to River in surprise.

“You know what it’s like with time travellers,” River said, “it’s so difficult to keep track and all the more important to keep appointments.”

“Don’t worry Doc,” Jack said jovially, “I took the long way here. Of course it’s getting harder to avoid myself now. I was a rather busy boy in this period.”

“You sure were,” River said sitting down next to him at the bar. “Buy me a drink fly boy?” They both smiled at what was obviously a shared memory and Jack ordered River a drink without needing to ask what she wanted.

“What can I get you Amy Pond?” Jack asked, patting the stood on his other side invitingly.

“What’ve you got?” Amy said obviously flirting.

“How about something exotic to match your beauty,” Jack said and Amy blushed twirling her hair around a finger.

The Doctor frowned before finally sitting next to Amy.

“Something with a little umbrella in it for you Doc?” Jack said after he’d ordered Amy a drink.

The Doctor was a little mollified by Jack remembering he liked the little umbrellas even if he didn’t remember telling Jack that, and of course that was his earlier him and Jack didn’t really know the new him but still…

Half and hour later Amy and River were sharing amused glances as the Doctor and Jack engaged in a strange one-upmanship battle. Every time Jack started to flirt with either of them the Doctor would start talking about one of their adventures.

“You would have loved him, Jack,” the Doctor had said, “he was the most amazing piece of blended technology and he didn’t even know he wasn’t human, but he was human really where it counted. That incredible unstoppable way you humans have, how you get this far across the universe and further.”

“Do I need to get you two a room?” River said and Amy realised the Doctor was trying to flirt with Jack, just rather badly.

“He sounds very handy,” Jack said with a grin and Amy was sure, absolutely sure, she could see the faintest hint of a blush creeping up the Doctor’s neck. “So how are you enjoying the ride?” Jack said to Amy giving her all sorts of visions of riding.

“It’s been a blast mostly,” Amy said.

“Rory enjoys it too,” the Doctor interrupted.

“Who’s Rory?” Jack predictably asked.

“Amy’s husband,” the Doctor said pointedly.

“Did he get lost along the way?” Jack looked toward the door.

“He’s back on Earth,” Amy said, “he called a break, said he needed a rest from all the running and the shouting. And he had to meet his PREP registration to stay a nurse. The Doctor promised we’d be back to pick him up as soon as he was ready.”

Jack threw back his head and laughed. “I hope your Rory travelled with you long enough to know what that means.”

“What does that mean?” the Doctor said. “I don’t always get it wrong, anyway it’s the…”

“TARDIS,” Jack and River chorused sharing a smile.

“Did I tell you he’d had the handbrake on all the time?” River said, placing her hand on Jack’s arm.

“No wonder the poor girl complained so,” Jack said smiling warmly into River’s eyes.

“Right, anyway,” the Doctor interrupted, “we’ve got to drop River off back in prison. Need a lift anywhere Captain?”

“Ah,” Jack said his eyes full of sympathy, “you’re at that point. In which case I could use a ride and a chance to spend more time getting to know both these lovely ladies better.”

The Doctor frowned again as they returned to the TARDIS, Jack with a lady on each arm. He was used to River flirting with anything that breathed she was a fifty-first century woman after all, just like Jack was still a fifty-first century man at heart. Of course Amy could give them both a run for their money, but Jack usually paid him better mind once the flirting was over.

The Doctor definitely didn’t like the idea that Jack and River had encountered each other before. Certainly he hadn’t fallen in love with River yet and she hadn’t met him for the first time either so he didn’t know everything that was going to happen, but he liked to know the certainties, and one certainty had been that those two should never meet and there they went meeting without him.

“Hello beautiful,” Jack said when they entered the TARDIS, “love the new look, showing a bit more leg too,” he added looked down at the floor.

“Now that’s just going too far,” the Doctor muttered as the lights in the room pulsed. “Come and look at this Jack,” he said dragging Jack toward one of the antechambers, “my Godmother gave it to me years ago and I finally got a chance to use it when we met Vincent Van Gogh. There was a Krafayis and this was the only thing that could see it.” He produced a slightly damaged machine dangling from one torn strap and Jack raised an eyebrow. “Well it was pretty spectacular.”

“I bet it was,” Jack said warmly. He glanced over to where River and Amy were talking and lowered his voice. “Has she told you why she’s in prison?”

“She killed a man,” the Doctor said sadly.

“There’s a lot more to it than that,” Jack said, “go easy on her okay? It isn’t easy living your relationships in the wrong order.” He smiled wryly.

“Yes well, I wasn’t going to be hard on her. How much do you know about things?”

“Spoilers Doctor,” Jack chided.

“Why should you know more than I do?”

“No pouting now,” Jack chuckled, “I’ve just caught up myself, River keeps much better notes than I do.”

“Enough skulking in corners,” River called out to them.

“I’m showing Jack stuff,” the Doctor replied, “like this…” he reached around behind him and grabbed something at random.

“A Cyber arm,” Jack said.

“What? Oh not that.” The Doctor tossed it aside, “This! Used it to put Spitfires into space.”

“I remember,” Jack said with a smile.

“What do you mean you remember?” the Doctor asked.

“Danny Boy to the Doctor,” Jack said in an English accent, “You can count on us sir.”

“You were Danny Boy, why didn’t you say anything?” the Doctor frowned.

“Promised a lady,” Jack said the direction of his quick glance clue enough for the Doctor. “It was my fourth time around,” he added, “and quite definitely the most fun.”

“I thought you were taking the long way now?” the Doctor said accusingly.

“I mostly am,” Jack said, “just sometimes I have to pop back and make sure I do the things River remembers me doing.” Jack’s gaze drifted back to where River and Amy were standing and the Doctor decided it was time to bring out the big guns.

“Remember the swimming pool?” he said remembering how much fun they’d had with Rose in the pool. “I found it again and I still like swimming. Fancy a dip?”

“Don’t have a suit.” Jack said.

“Sorry ladies,” the Doctor called out happily, “chaps only in the swimming pool, don’t want to upset Rory you know I promised him no nudity.”

River and Amy exchanged glances and broke into peals of laughter that the Doctor wasn’t going to be offended by because his brilliance was about to pay off and he was going to get Jack’s full attention… oh dear… maybe he should have thought things through a bit more, but Jack was following him and it was just a swim anyway.

The pool was just where he left it, not in the library fortunately, and the water was just the right temperature and buoyancy. The Doctor stripped quickly and dove in without looking at Jack (too much). He heard the splash of Jack’s entry and rolled over to watch Jack slice through the water.

Jack surfaced beside him and floated lazily alongside. The Doctor risked a glance over and down. He’d never taken the time to appreciate Jack’s form in the past, always too interested in someone else. Now well, Jack was a very handsome man with very attractive… bits.

Jack wasn’t looking at the Doctor though, and why wouldn’t Jack be taking the opportunity, surely Jack was still interested in men? Maybe Jack just wasn’t interested in him? It was a new body, a bit younger and a bit odd, but Jack had liked his other bodies, big ears, lanky frame and all.

“Did I tell you…” the Doctor began only to be silenced by Jack’s mouth on his.

Jack propelled them to the side of the pool while the Doctor wrapped his legs around Jack’s waist and congratulated himself on a clever plan. He knew he could figure out human courtship.

Jack reached between them and wrapped a hand around both their cocks which was a brilliant idea the Doctor decided so he removed his own hand from its death grip on Jack’s arm and sent it down to join the fun.

“You didn’t have to go to all this trouble to get my attention,” Jack said as he nibbled around the Doctor’s neck, “you must know I’ll always come running.”

“How am I supposed to know that?” the Doctor gasped, leisurely pumping their shafts together. “You were all over River and Amy, and neither of them need any encouragement.”

“I love beautiful people and everyone is beautiful when they smile. I like making people smile,” Jack said capturing the Doctor’s mouth for another kiss.

“Oh…” the Doctor thrust into their hands, feeling his orgasm building quickly, “it’s been a while for me I might not…”

He lost the ability to talk when Jack slipped down his body and under the water to swallow his cock. It only took a few ripples of Jack’s throat and the Doctor was tumbling over the edge flooding Jack’s mouth with his release.

Jack surfaced and swallowed with a grin only to be pounced on by rather excitable Doctor who spun them around and ground up against Jack.

“That was cheating,” he scolded Jack, trapping Jack’s still hard cock against his thigh and rubbing. “There’s no lube in here and I really wanted you to fuck me. Fuck’s a great word, it even sounds like the action. Fuck, fuck, fuck.” He punctuated each word with a thrust and Jack groaned. “Haven’t had sex in this body yet,” he continued.

“Then I’m getting you into a bed as soon as you finish what you’re doing,” Jack said in a strained voice.

“Not so much into taste this time round,” the Doctor said, “but very much into touch and you feel great.” He pushed away from Jack just enough to grasp Jack’s cock with one hand and fondle Jack’s balls with the other.

“Doctor,” Jack gasped as his release spurted over the Doctor’s hands.

The Doctor brought one hand up and tasted Jack’s juice thoughtfully. “Needs custard,” he decided, “but not bad.”

Jack collapsed against the side of the pool laughing.

“Hi Doctor,” he said sobering up and considering the Doctor thoughtfully, “good to see you.”

“Hi Jack, going my way?” the Doctor replied, really hoping he wasn’t going to have to keep asking.
