Ianto looked down at the sheet of paper in front of him. He glanced at Jack who was waiting expectantly, then looked back down at the sheet of paper. "What is this?" Ianto asked.

Jack looked upset. "Isn't it obvious?"

"Well I know what it looks like, but what I don't know is why you are showing it to me?" Ianto replied.

"I thought it would be a good idea. It would cut down on expenses and would stop Toshiko wearing totally inappropriate clothes to work. Not that I don't like her clothes, very sexy but totally unsuitable for chasing after aliens, I'm surprised she hasn't sprained an ankle yet." Jack shook his head.

"Valid points Jack. Just a couple of sticking points. Most minor one first...Do you honestly think that you could get Owen to wear this?" Ianto asked.

"Yes." He stated, but he rubbed the back of his neck as Ianto stared at him. "Well, it might be a bit of a struggle at first, but he'd see the benefits in the end."

"Mmm-hmm..." Ianto murmured sceptically. "Alright, supposing we manage to convince Owen that a uniform is a good idea, we are a secret organisation. Don't you think that we might draw a bit too much attention wearing a uniform?"

After a few seconds Jack shook his head. "We have an SUV with 'Torchwood' emblazoned on the side and you are worried about drawing attention? What is the real problem with the uniform?" Jack demanded.

Ianto paused, thinking carefully before he began to speak. "Jack, it's not practical. Uniforms work great for organisations where their members work set hours. When we get a call, most of us just pull on the first thing that comes to hand." Jack snorted. "Okay, I wear a suit and that is my uniform, but that is because it gives me confidence, makes me feel older, more responsible. When I wear it I'm not some scared kid! Would you give up your WWII outfit, your greatcoat?"

Jack shook his head. "It's who I am."

"Exactly! The suits are who I am, at least when I'm at work." He paused, kissing Jack softly, before giving him a mischievous look. "I think I'll keep this though, I may not want to wear a uniform for work, but that doesn't mean I can't think of a good use for one!" He walked out of Jack's office, leaving the Captain speechless.

Two weeks later

"Ianto Jones, reporting for duty, Sir!" Ianto stated, cap in hand.

Jack grinned as he began to give his "new recruit" a thorough inspection. He knew the uniform had been a good idea.
