He shouldn't be here. Really shouldn't be here, but if he wanted to turn around and go home, he would have already. He honestly doesn't know why he drove all the way over here. Not to stand on the other man's doorstep and wonder why, that's for sure. It doesn't matter though, because he told himself before he drove all the way over here that he wouldn't leave again, and he's not going to. Not after he's wasted too many days driving and standing here alone when he really, ideally, could be standing inside the other man's door and explaining to him why he's wasted so much time and mileage to get here every day.

So he knocks on the door and stands there for an excruciatingly long period of time and then wonders if he really did knock at all. He must have though, because he can still hear it echoing in his ears.

Soon, the constant knocking is replaced by the sound of a vehicle somewhere behind him, and he turns around to see Greg getting out of said vehicle and making his way to the doorstep with a perplexed look on his face. The younger man smirks, and is obviously going to say something witty and adorable, but Nick speaks before he has the chance.

"I know why I'm here," Nick starts, and Greg's smiling and giving him an odd look that the older man would like to patent and call his forever.

"Care to share, Nicky?" And it almost looks like Greg's blushing. He's clearly not though, because that would be far too confusing and far too perfect, and the world doesn't work that way.

"Can I come in?" Greg looks down for a minute and yes, he's definitely blushing. And how did Nick miss that before?

"If you'll kindly get out of the way so I can open the door, sure." Greg looks him right in the eye this time, blush and all. And then Nick's blushing too, and awkwardly trying to get his legs to function so he can let Greg inside his own apartment.

Greg's definitely fumbling with his keys, and Nick feels the slightest ping of satisfaction at his sudden realization that he can make the younger man nervous. The door opens now, and the two men can hear each other let out long breaths to calm themselves.

Then the most beautiful sound fills Greg's front hallway. The two of them are laughing. It's nervous and it's more than a little awkward, and it's beautiful. They look at each other and suddenly all the tension melts away.

"Greg, I-"

"I know, Nicky."

And then their lips meet.
