Pairing: Horatio/Ryan
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A day without sunscreen.

Delko's POV:

The sun was up and it warmed Eric Delko's skin. They had been working for a few hours at a harbor. Apparently a man was shot on boat earlier that day. Looking over at Calleigh, he smiled. She was wearing a light blue tank top, tan khakis, and her blonde hair was pulled into a ponytail.

Then he looked over at his boss Horatio Caine. He was a redhead with fair skin and blue eyes. He made sure that before he got out in the sun, he applied sunscreen or he would be a lobster. Today he wore a black suit with a light blue dress shirt.

It was getting really hot. He hoped that they finished up soon.

Horatio walked towards Eric and smiled. Eric waved him over.

"Hey H. Are we almost done here? I'm really hot out here." Horatio grinned.

"Yeah. Round up Calleigh and Ryan and we'll leave." Horatio turned to leave and saw Calleigh admiring her tan.

"Hey Eric, you got a good tan today!" Calleigh called to him from across the marina. Eric smiled and flaunted his arms for Calleigh. Horatio shook his head and laughed. Now they just needed to go find Ryan and they'd be on their way.

He looked down at his watch and felt the cool breeze in his hair. Looking back over at Delko, he frowned. Calleigh and Eric's mouths were hanging open. They were looking at something. "Ryan. Oh poor Ryan," he heard Calleigh whisper.

Horatio tensed. 'What was wrong?' He dashed across the harbor. Ryan was standing in front of them.

Horatio's mouth dropped open. Ryan was completely sunburned. Every exposed patch of skin was blood red. Ryan was on the verge of tears. Horatio ran to him and took his sunburned hands in his. "Ryan, how did you get so sunburned? Didn't you put on sunscreen?"

"I forgot to," he squeaked. Horatio sighed.

"Come on I've got some aloe at my house. We aren't too far. We'll go there now. Calleigh, Eric, why don't you go on and we'll catch up later?" They nodded and smiled sympathetically at Ryan.

Horatio led Ryan to the car.

Ryan stepped into Horatio's living room nervously. "Wait here and I'll go get the aloe." Horatio went into the bathroom. Coming back out, he found Ryan sitting on the sofa looking at his blistered arms.

"Horatio. My cheeks hurt so bad," he cried. Horatio sat beside him.

"I know Ryan. I know. I always wear a lot of sunscreen so I don't get so burned. Here, hold still. This will only sting a little." He poured a generous amount of the gel onto his fingers and slowly touched Ryan's boiling cheeks. Ryan flinched and whined.

"This will feel better. Believe me Ryan." Horatio rubbed his forehead and neck. Ryan just let him apply the icy gel to his arms. "There you go. Feel better?"

"A little. Thanks Horatio." He took a deep breath and leaned over to Horatio, giving him a quick kiss on the lips. Horatio's head was spinning. Ryan leaned back, obviously embarrassed. Horatio smiled giddily and kissed Ryan on the lips this time. Smiling, they both leaned over and kissed one another tenderly. Horatio deepened it and explored his mouth with his eager tongue.

Breaking apart the kiss for much needed air, Ryan sighed. "Thanks again Horatio. Will you maybe come to my house and stay with me?" Horatio giggled.

"Let's just stay here. I'll take care of you. Want to?" Ryan smiled and kissed him once more.

"Sounds wonderful." They curled up on the couch and slept off the day's heat.
