It's hard to believe it's been almost twenty years since I last set foot in my home State. If I had my way I wouldn’t ever set foot in the State again.

Too many memories.

Too many ghosts.

But justice calls and it's my duty to bring home the bad guy.

Speed wanted to come with me, but I needed him Miami running the evidence. I trusted him to make sure I had everything I needed. The priority was the case not my past.

He didn’t see it that way.

Tim knows.

He knows the truth about New York and my sudden relocation to Miami. He knows coming here is going to bring it all back. I can’t think about my father or his last words to me. I can’t think about the blood on my hands as my mother died. I can only focus on the here and now. A young girl’s parents have been murdered and I will find them for her.

She is my priority.

As far as I’m concerned New York is just another State. I will do my job then go home.

To Miami.

To Speed.

And when I wake up shaking from nightmares he’ll be there to hold me. What he doesn’t know is that I can face New York now – the memories and the ghosts.

Why?

Because I know when I step off the plane back in Miami he’ll be there waiting to welcome me home.
