Sometimes Horatio wondered, if he chiseled long enough if he would find a diamond under that scruffy appearance. Speed really had the ‘diamond in the rough’ image going for him. The scruffy face, unkempt hair, and the ‘I just rolled out of bed’ look for his clothes.

Horatio wasn’t sure what it was about the younger man. Woman wanted to mother him. And most men either wanted to hang with him or bed him. It was as if everyone knew that if they worked at it, they would find the diamond.

But that is why they never find it. Horatio grinned, because the diamond wasn’t hidden. It was right in front of them. It wasn’t perfect or flawless, but it was worth more than the Hope Diamond.

Speed looked up from his book and smiled at his lover. Horatio was the richest man on the planet.
