Speed kissed the soft white hair, tears slipping down his cheeks. They had had thirty-eight loved filled years together. He picked up the now cold hand that had for so long caressed, soothed, and held him. His lover, husband, best friend was gone.

He crawled into the bed curling one last time into his lover’s embrace. He laid his head down on his chest now silent. He closed his eyes and followed his lover into death.

Ray Jr. wiped away the tears. He had always known that the two could not live apart. He kissed each of them on the forehead.

“Be in Peace.” He walked out of the hospital room to make the arrangements for their funeral.
