Summary: Nick has to point out the obvious to Gil....

Ordinarily, Nick was not a jealous man. He and Gil had been together long enough that Nick knew Gil was oblivious to both men and women trying to flirt with him, and Nick usually took it in stride.

This time wasn't the case, though. This guy was really starting to piss Nick off, but what pissed him off even more was the fact that Gil actually noticed and was trying to flirt back! The guy in question was the new guy that worked at the diner Nick and Gil frequented near their home.

The first few times Nick caught the guy flirting, he let it ride. Mostly because Gil missed the signs, and Nick thought that would be the end of it. But as time went on, the guy got a bit bolder in his approach. So bold Gil noticed what was going on. Nick didn't say much about it because Gil seemed to have shrugged it off.

The next time they stopped in, Gil went so far as to call the young man by name. This really got Nick's attention because the two men talked to each other as if they were friendly with each other. When Nick and Gil got ready to leave, the guy (whose name was Ricky) told Gil that he really enjoyed their conversation from the other day, and that he was looking forward to talking with him some more.

Nick was speechless! He needed to find out what the hell was going on and fast. When he and Gil got home, Nick wasted no time asking what the comment Ricky made was all about, and when had this conversation taken place? Gil calmly explained that Ricky was giving him advice about certain things, and in return, Gil was giving him information regarding what classes he needed to take for becoming a CSI.

Needless to say Nick wasn't buying it. He didn't call Gil a liar, but he damn sure thought it. When he pressed Gil further, he began to have doubts. Gil explained that he wanted to know about current trends and fads because he knew he was behind the times about certain things, and he wanted to brush up on stuff so he could keep up with some of the conversations that Nick and Greg had without looking like a complete fool.

Furthermore, he was still having doubts because of the age difference, among other things. He still feared that Nick would tire of him because he was old, and he wanted to do whatever he could to keep Nick. All of this touched Nick deeply. So much so that when he looked up at Gil, he had tears in his eyes.

Nick felt like an ass for doubting Gil. Now, everything started to make sense, and that made Nick cry even more. Gil started to panic because he was never quite sure what to do when Nick cried.

"Gil, I thought we had all those doubts laid to rest.'

"They are most of the time, but every now and then, they come out and bite me in the ass."

"Baby, you could have come to me with this. I would have done my best to help you....."

"I know you would have tied."

"That's right. No, I'm not going to tire of you, and I'm not going to leave. I'm not that trendy, or anything. Hell, I still have to ask Greggo to explain shit to me all the time."

"You really mean that, Nick?"

"You're damned right I mean it. I've got more than I could ever want with you, and I don't want anybody but you. Do you realize how much work it would take breaking a newer, younger model?"

Nick laughed at his own joke hoping to put his love at ease. Gil gazed into those big brown eyes and smiled. The storm had passed, at least for now. Hopefully for a long long time. Gil knew now that he could have very easily fucked up the best thing he'd ever had by being foolish, and that was something he didn't want to do. From now on, he decided to go to Nick and really talk things over with him instead of trying to fix things on his own.
