Gil marveled at the man sleeping next to him. Watching Nick was one of his guilty pleasures. From the top of his slightly graying head to the tips of his toes Nick was perfect. At least to Gil. But in all honesty, it went much much deeper than Nick's physical beauty. Granted, the man was an excellent physical specimen, but there was more to Nick Stokes than that.

Nick possessed many admirable qualities, but the one that Gil loved most was Nick's ability to bounce back from just about anything. He was nothing if not resilient. Friendly to a fault sometimes, empathetic like nobody's business, and he always felt like he had to fix everything for everybody.

Gil knew that sometimes Nick got tired and wished that he didn't care quite so much, and Gil had learned early on to give Nick space and occasional reassurance, and to be there if needed. He also knew that Nick would be okay just so long as he knew Gil was there.

Gil stopped wondering long ago just how long Nick would stay. He worried in the beginning about Nick getting tired of him and leaving, but that had yet to come to pass. After living with Nick all this time, he couldn't imagine what life would be like without him. Lucky for him, it would be a very long time before he found out!
