He never thought his heart could hurt. Or break. But when he saw Nick in that hospital after he had been thrown through the window, his heart suddenly hurt. Later, when he touched Nicky on the shoulder, just as he was watching his stalker through the mirror, he had the feeling that his heart broke a little bit. Because Nick was not only startling...he was wincing. Gil looked into his eyes in that moment. He saw the fear, the pain, the hurt. And in that moment Gil felt an almost primitive hatred in his heart. To love. And to protect.
