Title:Homeless
By: Rhardin
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Summary: Greg and Sara are out working a case where a homeless lady passes away in her sleep. Greg can't help but notice the only witness. The only one that seems to care about the lady.
Beta by Crystal :-)

Greg was pretty sure that this was one of his least favorite types of cases to work. Ok, children cases were most likely the worst, so this would be the second worst case you could work.

Countless homeless people curled up in what ever they could find to keep them warm. They would huddle close together around a fire in a barrel, wrapping blankets, newspapers and whatever else they could find around them selves to help keep them warm.

And now he and Sara show up wearing warm coats, hats and gloves.

"Let's get this over with" Jim said blowing on his hands. He'd forgotten his gloves. "We had a DB, passed away in her sleep, most likely from the elements."

"Why do they even bother? No one cares about some homeless bum that was too stupid to find shelter and ended up freezing to death." Sara said.

Greg stopped and looked at her, shocked she had said that.

"I didn't mean that. I'm sorry. I've worked a double and now I have to come out for this. I mean they could of sent you alone Greg. Hell they could have sent Hodges and he could figure this out on his own. Why send 2 CSI's for this.

"Anyone see anything" Greg asked.

"Do they ever" Sara snapped.

"For once we have a witness. Says he's been keeping an eye on her, what ever that means. You Texas boy come over here." Jim called out.

A man got up and made his way over to the CSI's. Sara took a step back as he approached and she covered her mouth and nose with her arm.

Greg again looked at her like she was nuts.

"Tell them what happened so we can get out of this dump."

"She'd been sick for a few days. I'm not sure what was wrong with her. She kept to herself. Anyway, she went and lay down over there off by herself and she never woke up. I tried to wake her but she was already gone."

"When did you call it in?" Greg asked.

Sara sighed wishing Greg would stop asking so many questions. She couldn't believe he was taking notes.

"About 8 am." He said. It was now past 7 pm and they where just now getting here.

Sara turned to head back to the car.

"Anyone touch her?" Greg asked.

"Just me as far as I know I tried to keep an eye on her but you know nature calls."

"Hey don't touch her" he shouted making them jump.

Jim walked over to the body.

"Get out of here" He said.

"She's dead she doesn't need that no more" the old man hissed.

"Look man. Don't make me pull out my gun on you" Jim said now moving closer to the body.

Greg turned back to the man. He was very pale and skinny. He only wore a pair of jeans, sweatshirt and shoes. He was very dirty and sported a black eye and a few cuts on his face. He had his hands in his pockets.

It was very clear that Sara could not stand the smell of him.

"Have you been around here long?" Greg asked.

He shook his head. "No just a few weeks. I really didn't know her at all. I just wanted to make sure no one touched her or her things, she may have family"

"Yeah right" Sara said.

"Hey why don't you take a few photos of the vic before we move her" Greg said.

"I outrank you" Sara said hatefully. "Don't you tell me what to do"

"You're being rude Sara, He's just trying to help out." he said pulling her away from the man.

"He smells Greg, He's a drunk. Can't you tell? I'm sure he's wasted and on God knows what else."

"So take the photos and I'll talk to him" he said leading her towards the vic.

"Sorry about that" Greg said

"No big deal, I'm used to it" he said. The wind blew and Greg pulled his coat closer to him. The man closed his eyes as the wind blew. He shivered.

"What's your name" Greg asked.

"Nick Stokes" he said. He still had his hands in his pockets.

"Well Nick, Thanks so much for your help. I'm so sorry you had to wait around all day." Greg said.

"It happens all the time. No one cares about us. It just costs him a warm dinner that's all" someone shouted.

Greg looked up from his notes.

"Like I said, I didn't want anyone to touch her." Nick said softly.

"Greg I'm done here, lets go, it's starting to snow." Sara shouted.

Greg turned towards Sara then back to Nick. But he was already walking away from him.

"Nick wait, I feel really bad. Here take this so you can get some dinner" Greg said reaching for his wallet.

"Look, I don't want your money, just take care of her. Treat her right down there." He said walking away.

Greg wasn't sure if he should keep arguing with the man or not so he stopped. He watched him as he walked towards the fire.

"No fucking room here" someone yelled. Nick kept walking. His stomach ached, reminding him that he hadn't eaten in a few days. He stopped at the base of the bridge and sat down. He pulled his legs close to his chest and wrapped his arms around them trying to warm himself.

"Greg I swear to god, I'm going to leave you here with your new stinky friends" Sara yelled. Greg walked over to the car. He didn't say a word as she drove; she pulled into the parking lot.

"You're mad at me aren't you" she said as she parked the car.

"Why would you treat someone like that" Greg asked.

"Greg he's a bum, he's not worth my time. I know a drunk when I see one and I bet he does drugs too" she said.

"You don't know that" Greg said getting out of the car. He walked inside.

"Yeah I do. I've done this a lot longer then you have, I know his type. I've seen guys like him a hundred times" she said.

Greg didn't stop to listen or answer her. He went inside and walked past the locker rooms.

"Greg where are you going" she asked.

"Well, I want to see if Gil feels the same way you do" he said

"Come on Greg don't do that" Sara said sounding like a child about to get in trouble. "Why are you doing this? I'm sorry. Come on Greg, I'm your best friend" she now pleaded.

"Ok, I won't report you, if you come with me to the soup kitchen tomorrow. We are both off." he said stopping near Gil's office.

"No way am I going to spend my only night off with a bunch of drunks and druggies," she said

Greg took a step towards the office door.

"Greg" Sara said.

He didn't stop.

"Fine you win. Ruin my only night off"

Greg grinned and walked past Gil's door. "I'll pick you up at 5 o'clock." He said walking into the lounge. He took off his coat and gloves. He'd been in there about 20 minutes when David entered the room.

"Hey Greg, on your frozen Jane Doe, cause of death was just that. She froze to death."

"Thanks David, hey if you don't mind could you clean her up nice" He asked.

"No problem, Gil says the case is closed. Nice work"

"I didn't do anything" Greg said as David handed him the report.

Greg looked over the belongings: A shirt, sweatshirt, two pairs of pants, a coat, hat, gloves, a ring, two blankets and 12 bucks.

Greg shook his head and stood up he walked back down to the morgue.

"Hey David" Greg said.

"Nice hat" David said.

Greg pulled the hat off and put it in his pocket. He ran his fingers though his hair.

"You know Gil may not like you writing in that the vic had 12 bucks" he said.

"Oh man did I really do that?" he asked

Greg nodded.

"Thanks Greg, I owe you"

"What will happen to her?" Greg asked looking at the vic.

"She'll be treated just like all the other Jane Does." he said.

"Let me know if someone claims her" he said walking out of the room

"Will do, thanks again" David called out.

Greg walked back into the lounge and got a mug and filled it with hot coffee. He was still cold from that case.

"Record lows for the next few nights" the TV said. He sighed and took a sip of his coffee.

"I hate you" Sara said sitting next to him

"No you don't" he said leaning back in his chair. He took another long sip of his coffee.

"You're thinking about him" Sara said.

"No" Greg said. "I was uh, watching Roseanne" it was on the TV just now. "He could have taken her coat and blankets, she even had some cash on her and a nice ring, but he didn't take it."

"Oh god it's because he's a player. He most likely hid his coat in his car, which was parked down the road hoping to make a few bucks by getting people to feel sorry for him."

"He wouldn't take my money" Greg said, "I tried to give him some so he could get dinner"

Sara rolled her eyes.

Greg sighed.

"You care way too much Greg" she said standing up.

"You should care more" he thought as she walked out of the room. He took a few more sips of coffee and Gil told him to head home. He walked out to his truck it was covered in a few inches of snow.

"Bet you 100 bucks your witness is at home warm in bed" Sara said. Greg walked over and brushed the snow off her car for her, he didn't answer her. But hoped he was in a warm bed and not sitting under a bridge or a park bench trying to stay dry.

"See you tomorrow Greg" she said getting in her car.

Greg drove home. It took longer then normal because of the bad weather. He parked this car and made his way into his condo. He took off his coat, hat, gloves and shoes and walked inside.

Nick sighed and he got inside the dumpster. It was almost empty. But it was dry in there and much warmer. He moved into the corner and curled up. He rubbed his stomach and closed his eyes. Somehow he dozed off.

Greg climbed into his warm bed and pulled the covers over him. He turned on his side and looked out the window. He watched the snow fall until his eyes couldn't stay open any longer.

"There is someone sleeping inside there." A young boy said.

"It's a homeless dude"

"Lets do something funny"

"Yeah, lets get him wet"

Nick opened his eyes. "Get him wet" he thought He jumped up. But he wasn't fast enough. He felt something cold running over him.

"Ha Ha, what a loser" a young boy said.

Nick climbed out of the dumpster and was greeted with more water. He started to run but slipped on the watery snow.

"Get him" one of the boys shouted. They all started tossing ice balls at him. He got up and tried to run again.

"Look at the bum run. Look at the bum fall" they shouted still tossing ice balls at him.

Nick again slipped and fell. He got up and kept running. He stopped once he was out of there rang of fire. He tried to catch his breath. His lungs burned from the cold air. His teeth chattered and he was shivering from head to toe. He needed to find someplace to warm up fast.

He looked around and spotted a 24 hour wash and go. He made his way inside. There was only a few people in there.

"Honey don't stare" A mother told her young child.

Nick pulled of his soaking wet sweatshirt. He walked over to the sink and rink it out. Luckily his pants where not that wet.

"Sir you're bleeding," the young mother said.

Nick looked in the mirror. One of the ice balls hand getting him right on his check bone.

He nodded and reached for a paper towel. He missed the first try. He used both hands and pulled it out. He placed it on the cut and turn back around. There was a few quarters laying next to his shirt.

The mother and child had moved to the far end of the room. He put his sweatshirt in the dry and picked up the quarters. He dropped them as he tried to place them in the slot. He picked them up and again used both hands to put the quarters inside the dryer. He sat down still holding the towel to his head.

"No bums allowed in here"

"I'm a customer" Nick said pointing to the dryer. He sat down across from it. His head was starting to hurt.

"As soon as it's done get the hell out of my store."

Nick nodded. He was still shivering.

"Honey please don't stare at him" he heard the young mother say again.

Nick rested his on the back of his chair. He sighed and waited.

Greg lay in bed.

"That's it, no more late night cokes" he thought as he got up and ran into the restroom. He ran into his room and jumped into bed. He pulled the cover close to him. It was freezing in here.

He reached for the remote next to his bed and pushed a button. He smiled as the fireplace came to life. He grabbed another remote pushing a few more button and a huge 42 inch flat lowered from the ceiling.

He wrapped his blanket around him and turned the channel to ESNP. He dozed off.

Nick removed his sweatshirt and put it back on. He checked to see if the cut on his face had stopped bleeding. It had stopped.

He walked out side. He needed to find something to eat. He checked a few trash cans but found nothing. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

He just knew he was very hungry. He decided to head over to the soup kitchen so he'd be sure to get a warm dinner tonight. He wasn't surprised to see others already in line. He sat down and waited.

Greg got out of bed and made his way into the kitchen. He got out everything he need for a make some oatmeal. It sounded really good since it was so cold.

Nick pulled his legs closer to him as he shivered. He put his head on his knees rubbing his legs with his hands.

Greg walked into the living room patty his now full stomach. He stopped at the thermostat and turned it up.

"That's better" he said and laid down on the couch. He turned on the TV. He removed the blanket from the back of the couch and curled up in it. His stomach was starting to hurt. He should not have eaten so much.

Nick's teeth chattered and his stomach sent him a painful reminder it was still empty. He felt a bit light headed. He'd never gone this long without eating.

He closed his eyes.

Greg closed his eyes.

Greg was a very grateful person. He was a very thankful person. Greg knew he was a very lucky person.

He watched his father work two sometimes three jobs just to make it.

He remembered always helping his mother with her 24hr child care that she ran.

He remembered them not having enough money to pay the gas bill. So they all had to sleep together to keep warm.

He remembered summers without AC in hopes of keeping the electric bill down. He remembers Christmas and Birthdays without any gifts.

Most of all he remembered them some how finding the money to send him to the one of the best collages out there. He never knew how they did it. He was told not to ask. And he never did.

He was a very lucky guy.

"You'll never win anything playing the dime's" Sara had said.

"I've only got 10 bucks left" Greg told her.

"Live a little" Sara said leading Greg over to the high dollar slots.

"Sara I don't have any food in my place. This is all the money I have until we get paid" he said.

"Hey but think Greg you could win 100 million dollars." She said putting a 20 in. She pulled the bar down.

"Hey and I could lose it all and have to beg you for money for the rest of the week" he said watching the machine.

"You are so lame" she said. "Come on"

"Fine" he said and put the bill into the machine. He pulled the bar down and turned away from the machine. "See can we got home now"

Sara turned pale white. She started to shake.

"Oh my God" she screamed. The machine seemed to come to life. Lights flashed, it made all kinds of noise. Greg slowly turned to the machine. "I ... I ... I ..." he said then passed out. Sara caught him before he hit the floor.

A free for all broke out. People from all over the casino came over to see what had happened.

"It's my jackpot" someone screamed.

"No it's mine!"

"I won, I won!"

Sara tried to wake Greg up before they got crushed. She kept pushing them back.

"Get away" She yelled. "Give us some room"

Finally security came over and cleared everyone away from the still flashing machine except for Sara and the still passed out Greg.

"What happened?" Greg said weakly.

"You passed out" Sara said "Because you won 100 million dollars." She felt a bit light headed just saying it.

"I ... I ... I" He said and once again passed out.

"This could take a while" Sara said to one of the casino reps.

He knew he was a very very lucky person. Now he was able to take care of his parents. He bought them a house, cars and a boat. He paid off all the bills they had. He tried to give back to them as much as they had given to him. He wanted them to be happy.

Greg slowly got up. He couldn't believe he'd slept most of the day away. He walked into his restroom and took a shower. He got dressed and looked at the clock. It was 4:45. He called Sara to let her know he was on the way.

Nick stood in line with the others. He leaned on the wall. He stared in front of him.

"Hey man the line is moving. We are at the wrong door" Someone said. Nick didn't move. He didn't even blink. "Hey mister, you're gonna lose your place in line, I can't hold it for you, I'm sorry I hope your ok but I can't miss dinner" the man waved his hand in front of his face.

"Is he dead?"

"No stupid, he's still breathing"

"He's standing too"

"I saw a dead man stand once"

"Shut up, he's not dead is he?"

"No he does that all the time, just stares off, I don't know why, oh well"

Nick blinked a few times. He looked around. He sighed, seeing the line had moved. He made his way to the end of the line.

"We should of gotten here sooner, won't get nothing back here" a older lady said standing behind Nick.

"You never know, they may have extra tonight" He said placing his hand on his stomach.

The old lady looked at him closely.

"You're hands, they shake" she said.

Nick pushed his hands into his pockets. "Just cold" he said.

"That's not a shake from the cold" she said. "You poor boy"

Nick looked away from her.

"That's ok, you don't have to tell me" she said. "You are a good boy, I can tell. That is not a cold shake or a I want drugs shake. It's something else."

"Thanks" he said. "It's an unlucky shake" Nick said softly.

She nodded and they waited.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Greg and Sara walked past the long line.

"Tell me again why we are taking our night off to come down here" Sara said walking faster as someone growled at her.

"Because you love me" Greg said as they walked inside.

"Oh good, I'm so glad you are here. Welcome. Come in get warmed up. Oh I'm Debbie"

"This is Sara and I'm Greg" he said as they both shook her hand. She was an older lady with gray blue hair and she wore glasses.

"Oh, I love it when couples come down here to help out" She said.

"No, we are not a couple" Sara said. "He's gay, and I don't have a penis."

Greg and Debbie both looked shocked and Sara just smiled.

"Ok, umm. Well if you could start by taking the chairs down that would be great" she said. "I'll be back."

"Sara what is wrong with you?" Greg said still in shock.

"We'll I didn't want to lie to her. I didn't know what else to say" she said as she pulled a chair off a table.

"Try something like. We are just friends or co-workers" he said.

"Oh yeah, that would have been better" she said. "Sorry"

Greg rolled his eyes and started putting chairs down. They washed the tables and put out plastic ware, napkins and cups.

"Ok, good, it's almost 7. Greg I need you to do a count. We can only take 300 tonight."

"Wait, what, I have to turn people away." he said.

"Yes it has to be you. See I have a man do that. And we only have one man. You so you get the job." Debbie said handing him a counter.

"I would rather do something else, pass out food, clean, and wash dishes."

"Oh I know, but we don't have enough food for more them 300 people. It must be done." she said patting him on the shoulder.

Greg turned towards the door. He was about to open it.

"Oh Greg don't let a bunch in. We want an even flowing line" she said smiling.

Greg nodded and opened the door. He did his best to make the line flow in. He swallowed hard and felt a not form in his stomach as he got closer to 300.

Click.

"I'm sorry" he said. " I can't let anyone else in"

"Oh honey, I'm so hungry, isn't there room for one more"

"I'm sorry, I can't let anyone else in" he said trying to hide the pain in his voice.

"She can take my spot" someone said.

Greg turned.

"Oh god bless you son" she said walking in. Nick turned and walked out.

"Nick" Greg said.

Nick stopped and looked at him.

"Oh hey" he said. "Greg, where's your bitch friend?"

"She's in back, washing dishing" Greg said.

Nick nodded. "See you around" he said.

"Nick wait, we are done at 10. I feel bad. Cost you dinner two nights in a row" he said.

Nick wanted to walk away. He didn't want to take help from him but his stomach ached. He was getting dizzy. He had to get something to eat.

"10" Nick said.

Greg nodded.

Nick nodded and walked off.

Greg spent the rest of the night turning people away. Greg was glad when they locked the doors. He helped wash dishes and put the chairs back up.

"See that wasn't so bad was it" he said to Sara. He knew she was going to kill him for inviting Nick out to eat.

"Well I guess not." she said.

"I hope you both will come back" Debbie said.

"We will" Greg said.

"Oh it is my fault for not telling you this Greg but meeting up with them is not really aloud."

"What" Sara said

Greg smiled and took a step back.

"I felt bad. It was Nick from last night" he said.

"Oh Nicky, he's a sweet guy. Hasn't been around very long, he's a special guy. Since you are new I won't get on to you; just don't do it again." Debbie said.

Greg nodded and walked outside, With Sara right on his trail.

"I can't believe you did that Greg, you don't know anything about him. He could be a killer." Sara said.

Greg didn't answer her. He looked around looking for him. It was 10:05.

"Maybe he won't show." she said. They both got quite seeing Nick walk towards them.

"I'm going with you" Sara whispered.

Greg nodded.

"He smells Greg where are we going to take him"

"Shh" Greg said. Nick crossed the street and walked up next to them.

He wanted to turn and walk away. The look on Sara face didn't help.

"I'm glad you came" Greg said. He turned and headed to his car. Sara looked Nick up and down. She followed Greg.

"This is your last chance" Nick thought. He paused then followed Sara.

Greg pushed the remote to unlock his car. They all got in. Despite it being cold Sara cracked her window. Nick sat in the back. He wasn't sure why he was doing this. Greg seemed nice but Sara on the other hand; He was use to people being rude to him but wow. She was like queen bitch.

Sara glanced back at him. "So Nick are you from around here?" she asked.

"No Texas" he said

"Any family in Texas" She asked

Greg looked at Sara and she smiled.

"Not anymore" he said.

Sara opened here window a bit more.

"So why did you come here" she asked.

"I like the desert" he said.

"You know, Greg used to be our DNA guy, one of the best. He gave it all up to be out in the field. He's only a CSI level one" Sara said. "He used to make a lot more money doing DNA. What about you"

Nick didn't answer. He just seemed to be looking out the window. He blinked a few times and looked up.

Greg sighed as he pulled into the parking lot to Ihop and parked the car. They all got out and were seated right away. They where placed in the back off by themselves.

"Oh this is nice" Sara said. "I'll be right back."

She turned and walked off. Nick opened the menu. He laid it down on the table but Greg still noticed his shaky hands. The waiter came to the table.

"What can I get you?" he asked looking at Greg.

"Coffee with crøme" Greg said.

The young man then looked at Nick.

"Coffee" he said.

"She'll have coffee too" Greg said. The waiter walked off.

"She's not always like this." Greg said.

Nick just nodded looking over the menu.

"She's kinda like my big sister. Just looking out for me" he said.

Nick again nodded.

The waiter returned with the coffee. Nick took his cup in both hands and took a sip.

"That's some good coffee" he said.

"Oh you should try mine. I get a special blend. I call it Hawaiian blue. Everyone at work loves it" Greg said.

"I didn't think you where going to show up" Greg said.

"Well if you can't trust a CSI level one who can you trust?" he said.

Greg smiled and took another drink.

Sara returned and sat down.

"Not as good as yours" she said taking a drink. "But not many people can afford to pay that much for coffee. Can you believe he pays like 40 bucks a pound" Sara said.

The waiter returned.

"You all ready to order" he asked.

"I want the fruity tootie thing" Greg said trying not to smile "strawberry"

"I'll have the grill chicken salad" Sara said.

"The number 6" Nick said. The waiter nodded and took the menus. He left to go place our orders.

"So Nick" Sara said. "Did you go to collage or high school."

"Sara" Greg almost snapped.

"No, it's ok." he said. "Yeah both, I use to be a vet" he said.

"A vet, wow that's pretty amazing. Then why do you live on the streets, Drugs, Drinking what" she said.

"Oh my God" Greg said. "Sara stop it."

Nick looked up at her.

"Well Nick how does a Vet end up a drunken bum." she asked.

Nick stood up. "Thanks for the coffee" he said.

"Nick no, please don't go" Greg said standing up.

"I'm not that hungry" he said and started to walk away.

Greg followed him.

"Nick, I'm sorry, please just have dinner." Greg said.

Nick stopped. He knew he had to eat. He turned towards Greg.

"Please" Greg said.

"Greg you shouldn't waste your time on him" Sara said.

Nick turned away.

"What the fuck are you doing" Greg said to her.

"What's best, He's a drunk and a druggie. Didn't you see his hands. Did you see him space off in the car." Sara said.

Greg turned back Nick was gone.

Sara smiled. "Guess he couldn't handle the truth" she said. Greg walked outside.

"Nick wait, please" Greg said.

Nick again stopped.

"There's a Denny's down the road" Greg said and pointed to his car.

"You just going to leave her?" he asked.

Greg nodded, and walked to his car. Nick followed him. They both got into the car.

"I am so sorry. I don't know why she's being like this" he said starting the car. He drove down the road to Denny's. They once again where seated in the back. They placed their orders.

"I don't do drugs" Nick said.

"You don't have to say anything" Greg said.

Nick removed his right hand from his coffee cup. It was shaking.

"I just started a vet clinic about a year ago with my best friend. I was a large animal vet, he was small. Anyway. I started getting headaches and stuff. Went to the doctor and they found a tumor." he said.

Greg nodded and took a sip of coffee.

"They removed it all but something happened. My hands have done this ever since they cut into my head. My insurances wouldn't cover the surgery. Said my policy didn't cover it. I still hand a ton of bills from school and to top it all off my best friend sued me because I couldn't keep up with my part of the clinic. So here I am. I can't get a job. I've tried but my hands just wont stop." he said looking at them.

"Oh god, that's awful" Greg said.

"I don't normally do this" Nick said. "You know, this is my hand I got dealt and I'm dealing. I just had to get something to eat."

The waitress placed there food in front of them.

Greg wasn't sure what to say next. They both ate quietly. Greg was amazed that he could even get the fork to his mouth. They both cleaned there plate.

"OH it's snowing again" Greg said.

Nick sighed. "Thanks again for the dinner." he said standing up.

"Nick, I've got a couch you could crash on" Greg said.

"No you've done enough" Nick said.

"Well if you don't stay, I'll just worry about you and not get any sleep. I'll go crazy" he said

"Well we can't have that can we" Nick said. He really didn't want to spend another night in the dumpster.

Greg placed a 50 on the table and they both walked out.

"Sir. wait you forgot your change" the waitress said following them out.

"No keep it" Greg said unlocking the car.

"Thank you sir" she said.

Greg wanted to ask him so many questions. But wasn't sure if he should.

"What kind of music do you like" Greg asked. Nick didn't answer he was looking out the window.

"Oh sorry, country" he said after a bit.

Greg made a face.

"I'm a Texas boy, what can I say" Nick said.

"Uh I just can't stand county music"

"What do you listen too" Nick asked.

"Almost anything"

"Except country" Nick joked.

Greg nodded as he pulled into his drive away.

"Well this is home" he said parking the car. They both got out and Greg led the way inside.

"Make yourself at home" Greg said removing his coat and shoes. Nick took off his shoes and walked over to the couch. Greg started to sit down.

"Could I use your shower?" he asked.

"Yeah, 'I'll get you a towel." Greg walked back into his room. He got out a sweatshirt and sweatpants then got a towel. He placed them in the restroom and made sure the shower was stocked with everything Nick would need.

"There you go" he said. Nick nodded and went into the rest room.

Greg then sat on the couch. He noticed he had a few twenties sitting in the ash try. He wondered if Nick had seen them. If he had, and Greg put them away he'd think he didn't trust him. He sat back and turned on the TV. He then got up and went into the kitchen. He checked to see what kind of food he had. Not much. Just pop mostly. He never ate at home. He always ate out. He checked the freezer. There where a few pizzas and burrito's in there. He knew he had a lot of oatmeal and cereal. He got a sheet and blanket out and placed it on the couch.

Nick put on the clothes Greg sat out for him. He hung up the towel and folded his clothes. He couldn't believe he was doing this. But he just couldn't stand another night like yesterday. It was usually warm even in the winter, but some kind of cold front seemed to be camping right on top of Vegas and it wouldn't leave. He walked back into the living room. He looked at the TV and couldn't help but smile. It was on the style network. Greg quickly changed the channel to ESPN. Nick laughed a little and sat down.

Nick again spaced off. His eyes seemed to glaze over as he stared off into space. This time a bit longer then what Greg was seen before.

Nick shook his head and looked around.

"I never did that until after the surgery either" after seeing the worried look on Greg's face, Greg nodded.

"Well I'm going to go to bed." he said "Help your self to what ever you can find." he stood up and walked back to his room. He turned up the heat. He couldn't help but wonder if Nick would still be there when he woke up. He wondered if his things would still be there when he woke up. He got into bed and closed his eyes.

Nick pulled the covers over himself.

"Just one night" he told himself. "Just one night".

Greg sat up in his bed, it was almost noon. He yawned and did what most men do when they first wake up. He then headed into the bathroom, he finished that up and walked over to the sink. He looked in his medicine cabinet. He pulled out the new toothbrush he had just gotten. He was pretty sure Nick would like to brush his teeth. That is if he was still there.

Greg made his way into the living room. Nick was still there. He was still sleeping in fact. He quickly walked into the kitchen. He wasn't sure why he was so surprised at seeing Nick. He had taken his shirt off and the blanket only came up to his waist. Greg could easily see the outline of his ribs. They stuck out very badly, He was very pale. His stomach was sunken in. Nick turned on his side poor guy's hands even shook in his sleep. Greg looked away and when into the kitchen. He turned on the coffee pot and made his way over to the computer. He went online and checked his email.

He smiled seeing 3 from Sara.

I can't believe you left me there. You owe me 70 bucks for dinner and my cab ride home.

He clicked on the 2nd one. Call me when you get this

The 3rd one.

Greg I'm sorry I was so rude. Please call me or email me back. I'm worried. I hope you didn't do anything stupid.

Greg hit the replay bottom.

I'm fine. Is all he wrote, he surfed the net for about and hour stopping once to get his coffee, before Nick woke up.

Nick sat up on the couch. He looked over at Greg and quickly grabbed his shirt and put in on.

"I was starting to think you where going to sleep all day," Greg said sitting a cup of coffee down in front of him. The money was still there.

"I was pretty tired" Nick said taking the cup in both hands. "Wow that is good," he added taking another sip.

Greg smiled and sat on the other end of the couch.

"I don't have much to eat around here, I have oatmeal and cereal and that's about it for breakfast." Greg said.

"Oatmeal sounds good, but you don't have to make anything."

"When you stay the night at Greg's you get the full treatment," he said going back into the kitchen.

Nick took another sip of the coffee. He sat the cup down.

"How do you like it?" Greg asked.

"Just plain," Nick said. He sighed and stood up. He made his way into the restroom. He noticed the toothbrush with a post-it on it.

"Free to all guests of Hotel Sanders," Nick shook his head but was very glad to be able to brush his teeth. He came back into the living room seeing a bowl of oatmeal and toast.

"Was I in there that long?" He asked.

"You spaced out again," Greg said.

Nick nodded and sat down. Greg turned on the TV.

"What would you like to watch?" He asked.

"Anything but the Style network," Nick said.

Greg blushed a bit and turned the TV on to the news.

"If you thought yesterday was cold wait until you see the lows for tonight," the TV said. "Wind-chills will be below zero but we shouldn't get anymore snow. Looks like this system will be here for the next few days."

Nick sighed.

"Hotel Sanders is open as long as you need," Greg said hoping he wouldn't leave.

Nick nodded.

They spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching TV. Greg pretty much told Nick everything about himself. Except for the part that he had won a lot of money. In fact Sara and Gil where the only one's at work that knew the true amount. The others just fingered he'd won enough to get a better car and a house.

Nick wasn't very open barely telling him anything about his past, but Greg wasn't surprised. He'd say a few things in response to Greg's questions, but for the most part was very vague. He could tell Nick was still a proud man and it was killing him to even be at Greg's place. Greg just hoped he'd stay here long enough for this front to move on.

From the looks of him he wasn't in the best of heath. Greg worried each time Nick would space off. He was going to ask Doc about him when he got to work. Nick never looked comfortable. He seemed to be either hot or cold. He at times was sweating and at times Greg could see him shivering. He had a raspy sound when he took a breath.

Greg stood up looking at the clock. It was already 4:30. "I have to get ready for work," he said. He walked out of the room. He took a shower and got dressed. He walked back into the living room.

"I should be off around 1 or 2," Greg said. "Help yourself to any food you can find. It's all in the freezer. Not much in there but pizza and burrito's I think, I need to go to the store. Just make yourself at home."

Nick nodded. "I can't thank you enough." He said sounding like a broken man.

"You know someday you'll return the favor," Greg said putting on his coat. "Oh you can mess around on the computer if you want. It's logged on all the time. I have an Xbox 360 and a bunch of games if you get bored." Greg added putting on his gloves and hat.

"If you need anything my work number is by the computer," he said. He wasn't sure how to say goodbye. He could tell this was hard enough for Nick so he nodded and walked out. He pulled his coat closer to him. Wow it was really cold today.

Nick lay down on the couch and pulled the blanket closer to him. He closed his eyes.

Greg sat in his car waiting for it to warm up. He was worried. Not that his things would be gone, his fear was more about what shape Nick would be in when he got home. He put the car in gear and headed to the lab.

"There you are, I was worried," Sara said before Greg had both feet inside.

"Shit, its cold," he said.

"He's at your house isn't he?" She asked.

"No, he's meeting me there when I get off work," Greg said looking away from her.

"Greg you don't even know him, what if he robs you?" She asked.

He rolled his eyes and made his way to the locker room.

"Hey Warrick!" Sara shouted.

"Hey G?" he asked. "What's up?"

"Greg is letting some drunken bum stay with him," Sara said

"He not a drunk," Greg said opening his locker.

Warrick looked at Greg.

"Greg is a big boy Sara, I'm sure he knows what he is doing," Warrick said.

"Thank you," Greg said walking out. He needed to talk to Doc.

Sara hit Warrick.

"G is a good judge of people" Warrick said. "You worry too much."

"So you'd let some guy you don't even know crash at your place while you where at work?" Sara asked.

"Me no way, But G man that kid can see people. I wish I could. He's got a gift. He's going to be a great CSI." Warrick said walking out.

Sara sighed. Maybe Gil would see it her way.

Greg walked into the morgue.

"Hey young Gregory to what do I owe the pleasure," Doc said.

"Got a question about a friend of mine," he said. I don't know a lot of details, but he told me he had a tumor removed and after the operation his hands shake really badly."

"Sounds like something went wrong, I mean I would have to see a cat scam with a before and after," Doc said.

"He also will just space off, I mean his eyes kind of glaze over and he's out of it and everything stops," Greg said.

"Well it sounds like your friend is having petit mal seizures, a brief, sudden absence of consciousness may occur."

"There may not be any movement at all, only what appears to be staring. Usually, a petit mal seizure involves only a brief, sudden lapse of conscious activity. Each seizure lasts only seconds or minutes, but hundreds may occur each day. During a petit mal seizure, small jerks sometimes occur involving the facial muscles or hands. A person who experiences a petit mal seizure can usually resume normal activities immediately after the seizure ends. But I couldn't be for sure without seeing him, and doing some tests," Doc said.

"Could you check him out I mean if I could talk him into comeing down here?" Greg asked.

"Is this the homeless man you've befriended," Doc asked

Greg looked surprised.

"Sara told me," he said.

Greg again nodded.

"Sure, I'll check him out. Just don't tell Ecklie," Doc said with a smile.

"Thank you Doc." Greg said. "See you around."

"Greg we need more people like you," Doc said.

Greg blushed a bit as he walked out. Now he had to figure out a way to get Nick down here. He was sure that wouldn't be easy. Greg walked into the lounge.

"You're late," Gil snapped.

Greg sat down.

"Ok, Sara there is a break in. Hmm it's near your place Greg." Gil said.

Sara looked at Greg.

"Don't start," Greg said.

"Greg you're with Warrick. A DB found in the river. Dress warm guys. Cath you're with me." Gil said and stood up.

Sara walked into Greg's house. She tired to make as little noise as she could. She looked around. The TV was on. She walked into the living room. She could hear the shower on. Everything looked the same. Nothing seemed to be out of place. Her eyes widened as she saw the money on the table. She walked over and took in pushing it into her pocket. She looked up hearing the shower turn off. She quickly left the house and headed to the crime scene.

Nick wrapped the towel around his waist. He walked over to the sink. He pulled the note off the mirror.

"Just in case you get a headache or something help your self in side here."

Nick looked inside. He pulled out a bottle of Tylenol Cold. He tried to open it but the bottle fell to the ground. It broke open spilling a few pills on the floor.

"That's one way to do it," he thought picking up the bottle replacing all but two of the pills. He put the bottle back and swallowed the pills. He got dressed and made his way back into the living room. He walked over and looked at the Xbox. He looked at the games that Greg had. The kid had to have some money he thought as he pulled out the newest NASCAR game. He put it in and sat down in the leather recliner. He sat back in the chair and started to play.

"That sucked," Greg said pulling off his wet cloths. He got into the shower

"You're telling me," Warrick said doing the same. They both took a quick shower. He tossed Greg a towel and grabbed one for himself.

"Dam G, your just a little stick boy aren't you?" Warrick said looking at Greg.

Greg pulled the towel over his thin body. He dried himself quickly.

"That's why we have gym's G. You need to workout. I'm going to take you."

"No thanks," Greg said pulling out a change of clothes from his locker.

"You'll never find yourself a girl or guy with that skinny little body" he said.

"What is this pick on Greg day?" He asked pulling on his shirt. He put on his boxers then put on his jeans as fast as he could.

"Just trying to help you out. Just think, you could have a body like mine," Warrick said flexing his arms.

Greg sighed. He took the towel and ran it over his hair.

"I can show you what to eat, how to work out. Give me 8 weeks and I will give you a great body. And help you find your dream guy."

Greg put on his socks and shoes and tossed his towel at Warrick.

"Just think about it G," he said as Greg walked out.

"Nice hair," Gil said as he passed Greg.

Greg rolled his eyes and went into the lounge. Sara looked up at him.

"You ok?" She asked.

"Yeah I'm fine," he said sitting down.

"I just started some coffee," she said smiling.

"Thanks," he said getting up but Sara pushed a cup in front of him. Greg took the cup and sat down.

"I'm still mad at you," he said.

"I know," she said.

"Greg, Gil is sending you and me home," Warrick said. "Wanna get a bite to eat. Or we could go to the gym?"

"No, he's going home to Nick," Sara said.

Greg shot Sara an evil look and followed Warrick out.

"Gil felt bad that we had to get in the river."

"Cool," Greg said walking into the locker room. He put on his coat hat and gloves and followed Warrick out to his car.

"You know you never said how much you won," Warrick said looking at Greg's jeep.

"Enough," Greg said getting up. "Come over and watch the game on Sunday."

"I though you'd never ask," Warrick said.

Greg stopped at the store and got some stuff before heading home. He carried the stuff inside.

"Nick," he said then got quiet. He was asleep in the chair. Greg put the bags down on the table. He stopped seeing the money was gone. He turned off the TV and the Xbox. He turned and looked at Nick.

His breathing seemed to be worse. He removed the blanket off of the couch and laid it over him. Greg reached into his wallet and pulled out two twenties and placed them back in the ashtray. He walked back out to his car and got out his print powder. He got a few good prints off the door hand.He went in side and walked over to his computer. He scanned them and emailed them to Archie.

He walked into his room and called Archie's cell.

"Hey Greg what's up. I thought Gil sent you home," Archie said.

"He did, I need you to do me a big favor," Greg said softly.

"What do you need man."

"I emailed you some prints. I need you to run them and see if you get a hit."

"What, did someone break into your house?" Archie asked.

"Kinda I think it was someone from working playing a joke on me. Could you run them please?"

"Yeah, no problem, doing it right now. Doesn't that take the fun out of it?"

"Archie please just run them, I don't have time for this." Greg said.

"Oh ha its Sara's print." He said looking over at her. She didn't seem to hear him say her name.

"Thanks," Greg said and hung up the phone.

"Any time," Archie said hanging up the phone.

"You're busted Sara," he said.

"What are you talking about?" she said walking over to him.

"What ever you did to Greg, he knows it was you, he printed something."

"Oh shit," Sara said. She sometimes forgot Greg was a CSI now.

Greg changed into some sweat pants and a t-shirt. He walked back into the living room. Nick was now coughing in his sleep, but he didn't wake up. Greg laid down on the couch. This would be easier than him waking up and coming in here to check on him each hour. He closed his eyes and dozed off.

He woke up and looked over at Nick. He was still asleep. He glanced at the clock. 5:45. why in the hell was he up this early. He tried to go back to sleep but couldn't. Nick's kept coughing and his breath seemed really bad. Greg sat up.

"Nick," he said. "Hey wake up."

Nick didn't move. Greg got up and walked over to the chair.

"Nick" he said shaking him. Again Nick didn't move at all.

"Oh god," Greg thought. He picked up the phone and called 911.

"Hello what is your emergency?"

"My friend is really sick. His won't wake up. He got a hacking cough, and has a raspy sound when he breaths."

"How long has he been sick?"

"I'm not sure, I went to work last night and he was like this when I woke up."

"Ok sir we have ambulance in route right now."

Greg hung up the phone.

"Nick, come on man wake up," he said. Nick still didn't move. He looked very pale now. His lips seemed to be blue. Greg knew he wasn't getting enough oxygen. He ran outside when he heard the ambulance.

He watched as they lifted Nick's lifeless body off the chair and put him on the gurney.

"Give him oxygen now," he heard them say.

"He's not breathing."

Greg stood and watched as they put Nick on to the ambulance.

"Sir if you're coming we need to go now."

Greg jumped into the back.

"Sit over there and stay out of the way."

"He's got a high fever, A rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, and bluish-skin. Ok, wait, he's moving air. Just barely, keep on eye on that. His breathing is becoming very labored and heavy."

Greg looked at Nick, he let out a slow breath.

"Your friend is really sick, why didn't he come in sooner?"

"He seemed ok when I left for work. I just though he had a cold." Greg said now fearing the worst not taking his eyes off him. "I really only just meet him, I was trying to help him out."

"Is he homeless?"

Greg nodded. He listened as the 2 EMT kept giving out Nicks stats. He knew it wasn't good. His pulse was weak due to the fact that he wasn't moving enough air.

"He most likely has Pneumonia," one said. Greg only nodded. Once they got to the hospital Greg was told to wait in the waiting room He sat down and looked at the floor. He realized he didn't even have on shoes. He didn't have his cel-phone, keys, and wallet. Nothing. He just ran out of his house. He wasn't even sure he'd closed his front door.

A doctor walked over to him.

"Are you with the homeless guy?"

"His name is Nick," Greg said standing up.

"Well, we did a chest x-ray and found white areas in the lung called infiltrates, which indicate infection." he said leading Greg back.

"Sir you don't have any shoes on," he said.

"I know I just kinda ran out of the house," Greg said.

"Ok, I'll see what we can find. Well Nick has pleural effusions, fluid around the lungs, and abscesses. It just like we thought. He has pneumonia, do you know if he's coughed up heavy sputum with blood?"

"I'm not sure," Greg said. "I'm sorry. I just don't know." He took him back to the room Nick was in.

"Right now we are giving him intravenous administration of antibiotics. He will need to stay in the hospital for a few days until his temperature, respiration rate, heart rate, blood pressure and oxygenation levels are normal. He needs to most likely take oral antibiotics after he can go home. Once he's home he'll need to Drink plenty of liquids."

"Coughing should not be suppressed, since this is an important reflex for clearing the lungs. Some physicians advise taking expectorants to loosen sputum. There is no proof that any of these products make much difference in outcome. If he is in any mild pain it can be treated with aspirin." The doctor said.

Greg nodded.

"He has poor nutrition, a bit of Frostbite on his hands and feet and sun exposure." Greg again nodded.

"But he should be ok, you got him in here just in time a few more hours and he most likely would have died. He's very lucky you found him. We are going to move him."

"Move him, why?" Greg asked.

"We can't keep him here. He needs to be transfused to Careunit Hospital. They have the funds for homeless patients. We don't."

"No, I'll take care of it." Greg said.

"Sir, there is no way you can afford the bill."

"I said, I'll take care of it. It'll make him worse if you move him again," Greg said looking at the doctor.

"Ok, someone will be in here to get your billing information." He said walking out of the room.

Greg walked over to the phone.

"Warrick, it's Greg, I need your help. I'm at the hospital."

"Are you ok G? What's wrong?" he asked his date looking up from his bed.

"I'm fine," he said "Nick the guy I told you about got really sick. I need you to go to my house and get my keys, wallet and shoes."

"You aren't wearing any shoes," Warrick said almost laughing.

"No, could you help me out," Greg said lowering his voice. Nick moved a bit.

"Are you in a hurry, I'm on a date," Warrick said.

"It's like 7:30 in the morning," Greg said.

"It was a good date, oh I'm getting the evil eye, and I'll be there as soon as I can. What room?"

"We are in the ER right now, I'm not sure when they are going to move him," Greg said.

"Ok, I'll find you," Warrick said hanging up the phone.

Greg sat down in the chair. He ran his finger though his hair.

"Where am I?" Nick asked.

"The ER, you got really sick." Greg said.

"Oh god, No, I can't be here," Nick said trying to get out of bed. He pulled the oxygen off his face.

"You have Pneumonia, you can't go anywhere for a few days," Greg said.

"No, I don't. I'm fine," Nick said between coughs.

"Yeah sure you are," Greg said.

He put the mask back on his face and slowly stopped coughing.

"They don't treat homeless people here," Nick said.

"It's ok, Its all taken care of," Greg said.

Nick looked at Greg.

"You don't even know me, why are you doing this?" he asked.

"I'd hope if I was in that situation someone would do the same for me," he said. "Now, sit back and relax."

Nick looked down.

"I'll find a way to pay you back," he said softly.

"I know you will," Greg said. "Now please relax."

Nick laid back down. Greg sat back in his chair. Both men closed there eyes.

Greg opened his eyes seeing a nurse standing over Nick.

"Is he ok?" Greg asked.

"Yeah, I'm just changing his IV. He's very lucky to have met you. He'd be dead right now." She said.

Greg pulled his legs down for the chair he'd been sleeping in. "What time is it?" he asked.

"It's 11:30, a friend of yours stopped by with your shoes and things. But you where asleep. He said he'd be back around noon." she said. Nick coughed a bit but didn't wake up.

"You are one lucky man," she said now taking his temp. "Hmm 103. It should be lower. I wonder if he has an infection some where else. I'm going to get the doctor." she turned and walked out.

Greg stood up and walked over to the window. The sun was shinning brightly making it look warm. He placed his hand on the glass. It was ice cold. It scared him to think that Nick was so close to dieing. That he almost didn't go after him, after Sara was so rude. Greg turned towards Nick. He still had his hand on the window.

"It's about time you woke up," Warrick said walking into the room. "Like I don't have anything else better to do them wait around so I can give you your keys and shoes."

"Thanks," Greg said taking them from his friend.

"Wow G I know that look," Warrick said looking at the sleeping man.

"If I hadn't woken up," Greg said.

"But you did G," Warrick said. "Stop thinking like that. You go nuts just remember that you did wake up and he's ok" Warrick said. "So you like him?"

"What, I barely know him," he said sitting down in a chair.

"Yeah but you think he's cute don't you?" Warrick asked.

"Warrick aren't you busy today" Greg said.

"Hmm not really," he said sitting down.

Greg rolled his eyes.

"I don't know; it would be weird."

"Why?" Warrick asked.

"Well he's homeless, And I'm," Greg stopped.

"You can't even say it can you G"

"Rich" Greg said. "I've thought about it, I just . It will always look like he's using me for my money or I'm just you know making him feel like he has to stay because he's trapped. And maybe he is trapped and then I will never know what he's feeling or what I'm feeling. And then people would stay stuff like he's using me, or I've got him trapped and I would never know if that was really the truth. I mean I just don't know, it sucks because I think I could like him. I haven't even told him I have a lot of money. I mean I think he knows, he's not stupid, he's been in my house. Should I tell him? I will have to tell him someday. It's just you can't not tell someone you won a bunch of money. I mean he'd ask sooner or later wouldn't he. I don't even know if he's gay or not. I don't know if I should ask that either. He may get mad and leave or be like why are you, and if I say yes he may freak out and leave. He just can't leave. I worry about him all the time and I'd be looking for him and freak out when we get a DB. I'd feel really bad if he did die, It would be my fault wouldn't it. But yeah he's kinda cute and nice. I bet if he was healthy he'd be hot. Get some food in him and get him some warm cloths. A bit depressed but who wouldn't be with all he's been though. He hasn't told me much about himself. I know he doesn't like me helping him like this. He's a proud man. He used to be a vet, But something happened with his hands. I just don't know what to do. I can't ask Sara because she doesn't like him for some reason and she's acting really weird and she broke into my house and took some money and I can't ask Gil because he's old and Cath; Well she's no help. She's too busy to help me and I can't ask my parents because they don't know I'm gay. God it would kill them. I need to tell them some day don't . I can ask you, You can help me you're my best friend. I just. I don't know what to do. What should I do?"

"Holy shit Greg you fucking lost me" Warrick said. "First you need to breathe. And really I am lost. What do you want me to help you with. You said like 20 things all in one fucked up sentence.

"I don't even know what I said" Greg said putting his hands on his head. "I have a headache."

"Yeah I would too if I said all that" Warrick said.

"Ok, yes you have to tell him about the money. That can't wait. You can't start a relationship on a lie. Then you find out if he's gay or not. And then you need to not treat him like he's broken. That will drive him away. I know you want to help him but you have to remember his feelings to."

"How do I do that" he asked.

"You are a smart kid, you'll find a way" Warrick said. "And suck it up and tell your parents, They already know anyways"

Greg looked at Warrick. "They do" he said a bit surprised.

"Greg everyone knows" He said walking out of the room.

Greg sighed and again looked out the window. He looked at Nick. He was still asleep. He again rested his head on his hands. His mind raced.

The next few days Greg was either at work or at the hospital. Nick is almost never awake. Greg is pretty sure it's the medication they have him on. Greg still isn't sure about what to do.

"I think he's ready to go home."

"What he's still got a fever" Greg says. "He's only been here two nights."

"Yeah but it's very common for a fever to last up to a week with Pneumonia. Everything is good. So there is no need to keep him here any longer. Does he have a place to go?"

"Yeah he does." Greg says.

"Good, I'll be back with a proscription for his oral antibiotics and his discharge papers."

Greg sat down in the chair. Hopefully once they got home Nick would wake up. Greg walked over to the window. It was raining today and still very cold. It was about 39 degrees. He hoped the temp would stay up so it wouldn't turn to freezing rain.

Nick slowly opened his eyes. He looked around the room.

"Do you ever go home" he said.

"Nothing to do at home" Greg said turning around.

"That's a lie you got more gizmos then anyone I know" Nick said with a weak grin.

"Well your going home today, they think you're all better" Greg said.

"Then why do I still feel like shit" Nick said trying to sit up. He felt very dizzy and gave up the idea.

"Doc says you could have the fever for a few more days. He went to get some antibiotics or something" Greg said walking over to Nick's bed.

"Guess I'll owe you a bit more" Nick said looking down. The doctor came in and gave the proscription to Greg. He never even talked to Nick.

"So that's it. I'm a free man" Nick said sitting up again. He still felt dizzy but forced himself up this time.

"I got some clothes for you to wear and a coat" Greg said. Nick nodded.

"Well it's better then this hospital gown." He said lowering his legs to the floor. He slowly stood up.

"Oh shit!" He said almost falling. Greg caught him and held him up.

"Thanks" Nick said softly. His face was only a few inches from Greg's. He held his breath for just a second. "Don't let go. I'll fall."

Greg nodded. He helped Nick out of the gown and into the t-shirt and sweat pants. Nick leaned heavily on Greg as he lifted each leg to slide them into the pants. Greg helped him sit back down. Nick put on his socks and shoes.

"I can't tie them" he said very quietly. Greg didn't say anything as he tied them for Nick. They waited for a nurse to come with a wheel chair.

"Are you sure he should be going home?" Greg asked.

"Oh yes the doctor wouldn't be sending him if he was in danger" she said.

Nick slowly stood up. Again he almost fall Greg caught him just like before. The nurse seemed a bit surprised that Nick was so weak but didn't say anything as Greg put him into the wheelchair.

"I'm going to go pull up my car" Greg said putting on his coat.

"I'll wheel him down." She said.

Greg walked out to this car.

"Damit" he thought as his cell phone rang.

"Greg it's Gil, look Cath can't make it in."

"Gil, I just got off a few hours ago. I've worked a double" he said getting into his car.

"Greg, you're on call" Gil said.

"No I'm not Warrick is." Greg said surprised that he just talked back to his boss.

"I can't reach Warrick."

"I've been drinking" Greg said.

"You have not."

"Yeah I have, I'm drunk" Greg said.

"Say silk silk silk" Gil said.

"Silk, silk, silk" Greg said.

"What do cow's drink?"

"Water, oh shit, Gil look, they are sending Nick home today"

"Who is Nick?" Gil asked.

"My friend, the one Sara told you about," Greg said stopping the car in front of the hospital.

"You mean homeless gentleman?" Gil asked.

"They are sending him home and he's still pretty sick. I need to get something filled and get him settled in," Greg said. "Why don't you work and extra shift once in a while instead of making us do it all the time, Oh shit, I didn't mean that. I'm sorry" Greg said biting his finger.

"Greg, I will see you on Monday" Gil said and hung up the phone.

"Oh my god, he's going to fire me" Greg said walking in.

"What's wrong" Nick asked.

"I just got lippy with my boss, he wanted me to come in and work."

"But you've been at work for like 16 hours" Nick said.

"Yeah I know, I told him I was tired and that he should cover a shift every once in a while"

Nick shook his head.

"So I'm going to get fired. I just know it. Oh my god, he's going to put mold on my feet again or make me pee in a cup, or cover me with bugs. Oh shit." Greg said.

"You have a weird boss" Nick said as the nurse pushed him out to the car. Greg helped Nick into the jeep.

"Oh man, I should call him back and say I'm sorry" Greg said. "Oh man, oh man"

Nick laughed a little. "Your kind of high strung aren't you" he said.

"You should see me when I'm total wigged out. This is nothing. Sometimes I just go on and on and I don't know when to stop. I just keep making it worse and I don't stop talking. I know I should but I can't. It's like something inside me turns off my brain and I just go on and on and on. The words keep coming out of my mouth and I have on control over them. I can't help it. It's not my fault. I just have always done that. I use to drive my mother and dad nuts. My dad would be like Greg stop. And I would try but" he stopped talking.

"Like that" Nick said.

"Yeah like that."

"He can't fire you because you didn't come in" Nick said "where you on call"

"No"

"Then relax, He can't fire you and I don't think your boss is allowed to put mold on your feet or make you pee in a cup" Nick said.

Greg sighed.

"He's done that to you" Nick said.

"It's all for science" Greg said.

"Wow, I'm glad I don't work where you do!" Nick said.

Greg pulled into the drug store.

"You just wanna wait here" Greg asked.

Nick nodded. Nick watched Greg go inside the store.

"What are you doing?" he thought. "You shouldn't be doing this. He is way too good for me. I couldn't hold a candle to him." He closed his eyes.

Greg pulled his phone out.

"No Greg, you aren't fired and no I won't cover you with mold or bugs" Gil said and hung up the phone.

Greg put his phone back in his pocket.

"You owe me 40 bucks" Gil said to Cath.

"I can't believe he said that to you"

"Yeah he must really like this Nick guy" Gil said talking the money from her.

"You are evil Gil" Cath said leaving his office.

Greg walked back out to the car and got in.

"You can't be tired" Greg said.

"I know all I've done is slept for days but I can't keep my eyes open" Nick said yawning. Greg pulled up to his house. He helped Nick get inside.

"You can sleep in my bed if you want, it may be more comfortable for you" Greg said.

"No the couch is fine" Nick said lying down.

"Well I've been up for 24 hours so I'm going to go lay down for a while. Just yell if you need anything" Greg said helping Nick cover himself up. "Do you want a juice or tea or a beer." Greg said.

Nick smiled and shook his head. "I'm good, thank you" he said.

Greg made his way to his head. He fell on it and passed out as soon as his head hit the pillow, shoes still on his feet.

Nick slowly sat up. He reached over and picked up the money in the ash try. It wasn't there before.

He was sure it was gone. He put it back and laid back down. Maybe it was there and he was seeing things. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

"Really you don't have to cook for me" Nick called out.

"Come in here and stop me" Greg shouted back. He was making eggs, bacon, pancakes, toast, and hash browns.

"Ha ha that's not funny" Nick said back. He still couldn't stand up without getting dizzy.

"That's what I thought. It's not just for you, my friend is coming over, remember." Greg said walking into the living room. Greg sat down and looked at the TV. The colts where getting ready to play the cowboys.

"He should be there anytime now" Greg said. He looked over as Nick was coughing. He still coughed a lot but was told that was a good thing. It was getting rid of the problem.

Nick took a deep breath when he finally stopped. He pulled the blanket up to his chest.

"Are you cold, I could turn up the heat" Greg asked.

"I'm fine, I'll be hot again so I wouldn't bother" Nick answered back.

Greg stood up and went back into the kitchen. Nick closed his eyes. He jumped hearing the doorbell.

"It's open" Greg yelled.

"My lord G you are one loud fucker" Warrick said walking into the house. "Oh man I smell something good".

"Warrick this is my friend Nick" Greg said.

"Nice to see you out of the hospital and awake." Warrick said. He put his bag down to the table and reached out his hand. Nick shook his hand.

"You where at the hospital" he said.

"Yeah G left with out his shoes, keys wallet, So I came over and got them and brought them to him. I drove him once to get his jeep too." Warrick said picking up the bag. He walked into the kitchen and put the beer in the fridge.

"Wow G, it's insane in here" Warrick said.

Greg smiled.

"So have you talked to him yet" Warrick asked.

"Not yet, I've been kinda waiting for him to feel better. He's still pretty sick" Greg said they could hear Nick coughing again.

"Hmm" Warrick replied.

"You make it sound like it's easy. I'm still trying to get to know him."

"Want me to ask him, I will" Warrick said turning around.

"No, Warrick don't" Greg said grabbing his arm.

"You're a chicken shit, that's what it is. You act all suave and shit at work but in reality you're like a little chicken shit" Warrick said walking into the living room.

"Oh shit, what is he going to do" Greg thought. He loaded up a few plates with the food and carried them into the living room. He them went back and got out his finest china and silver wear. Paper plates and plastic forks and spoons. He grabbed a bunch of paper cups and returned.

"Dig in" Greg said. He went back into the kitchen and got out a bottle of coke, orange juice and one of Warrick's beers.

Warrick was already loading his plate full of food. Greg did the same. Nick just laid there half watching the TV.

"Is he ok?" Warrick asked.

"Yeah he has something called petit mal seizers, he'll be ok" Greg said as Nick seemed to br coming out of it.

"Food's getting cold" Greg said.

Nick sat up and got some eggs and bacon. Warrick tried not to stare at his shaking hands. He turned to watch the game.

"So who do you like G" Warrick asked.

"You know I like the Colts, Peyton is hot" Greg said. Warrick nodded and glanced over at Nick.

"What about you Nicky?" He asked.

"Cowboys, I'm from Texas" Nick said now getting a couple of pancakes. "You"

"I always go against Greg's teams. Doesn't matter who it is."

Greg made a face at Warrick.

They watched the game Warrick was getting very irritated with Nick and Greg. They where doing way to much talking and not really watching the game.

"Just ask him on a date already" Warrick thought.

Much to Nick's and Warrick's disappointment the colts won easily.

"That was a waste of my time" Warrick said standing up.

Nick just shook his head. Greg on the other hand had a big smile on his face.

"Wanna watch the late game" Greg asked.

"As much as I love your kick ass TV and Sound system, I gotta go. But thanks for the food. See you at work tomorrow" Warrick said.

"Nick it was great meeting you" Warrick said. "Same time next week" he asked.

Nick looked over at Greg.

"Yop, We'll get pizza next time" Greg said.

"I'm buying next time" Warrick said.

"Not if you come to my house" Greg said.

"Fine by me you're the rich one not me" Warrick said. Greg looked at him as he walked out of the house.

Greg let out a slow sigh. Nick looked over at him.

"I won a jackpot at the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino." Greg said.

"Really?" Nick asked.

"I was with Sara and she talked me into playing the last bit of money I had. I put it in and won." Greg said.

"100 million dollars" Greg said almost in a whisper.

Nick eyes widened.

"Oh my god" he said.

"I know, it's crazy, I still don't believe it myself" he said.

"I should go" Nick said he started to pull the covers off himself.

"No, Nick, please don't do this. You are still to sick to be outside."

"I mean I know you had some money but this, my god" Nick said sitting up.

"Nick please just stay until you are well enough, you'll just get worse out there" Greg pleaded with him.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Nick asked.

"Because, I was afraid to," Greg said

"Afraid, why where you afraid?" Nick asked sitting back.

"You're a proud man Nick, I was worried you'd freak out and leave. I..." Greg stopped and looked down.

Nick looked down at his shacking hands.

"I was starting to like you" he said softly. "I thought that you knowing would scare you away."

"Wait, you like me?" Nick said very surprised.

Greg nodded.

"Why?" Nick asked.

"Why what?" Greg asked.

"Why would you like me. I don't have anything."

"Like I said, I can tell you're a proud man who hit a really bad time in your life. But you still keep fighting. When you stayed with that lady to make sure no one took her stuff. You gave up your place in line for that older lady. You're a good person despite what was happened to you. You're a fighter" Greg said.

"I don't have much fight left in me" Nick said weakly.

"Plus you're kind of cute" Greg said.

Nick smiled and put his hand over his face.

"Just please don't leave, I want you to stay so you can keep fighting" Greg said.

Nick looked away from Greg. He nodded.

Greg smiled. "Thank you" he said.

"This can never work. It's just to weird. I mean no matter what happens it's going to look like I'm using you for your money" Nick said as Greg looked over at him. "It's just crazy" he went on shaking his head.

Greg only nodded.

"I'm sorry, I think you are a very sweet person. You are so pure and honest. You don't judge people. You have been so kind to me. You're not too bad to look at either. Doing everything and you barley know me" Nick said weakly. "But it just can't work, out. It just can't"

"I mean you see why it can't work out don't you. I don't want people to think that." Nick went on.

Greg nodded. He stood up and picked up the plates and walked into the kitchen. He put them into the trash. He leaned on the wall and put his hand over his face. He let out a long sigh. At times like this Greg wished he'd never won that fucking money. But at least he was staying. That helped a little. Greg sat down at his table and put his hands over his face.

Nick closed his eyes.

He hadn't felt like this about any one for a long time, but what kind of feelings were they. Was he falling in love with the young man? Or was it because Greg saved his life, took him in when he was at his weakest. Or was it that he never seemed to mind when he was dirty from head to toe and knew that he smelled horrible. He stuck up for him when his best friend talked bad about him. No one was carried about him for two years. And now here was this young man willing to help Nick out, give him a place to stay, food to eat, and maybe give him so much more. Nick slowly opened his eyes.

What the fuck was he doing, he was pushing him away. He was about to loose the only person that took the time to see him for a human not a homeless bum. Nick tried to stand up but his legs give out on him. He tried again but fell weakly back onto the couch.

"Hey, I just got paged into work" Greg said walking into the living room. "So you know, just relax and I will see you later".

Nick nodded. Greg walked over to the door and put on his coat and hat.

"If you need anything just give me a call" Greg added and walked out of the door.

"Damn it" Nick said lowering himself to the couch. "Damn it all to hell."

Greg got into his car and sat there waiting for it to warm up. He put the car in gear and headed to the lab. He slowly walked in side and made his way to the locker room. He walked in and opened his locker.

He put his coat and hat way. He turned hearing the door open.

"You fucking bitch" he almost yelled.

"Greg, I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking clearly when I did that." Sara said.

"You broke into my house and tried to make me think Nick took the money" He said still shouting.

"Greg please don't yell, let me explain!" Sara said.

"There is nothing to explain Sara, you didn't trust him so you wanted me to feel the same way." He turned away from her.

"Greg please just give me a chance." She said almost in tears.

"No, you had your chance and you blew it" he said in a cold voice. "Just stay away from me."

"What?" Sara asked.

"You heard me, Stay away from me, and don't talk to me anymore" he slammed his locker causing her to jump.

"Greg please you're going to end our friendship over some bum" Sara said weakly.

"No, I'm going to end our friendship because you are not who I thought you where" he said facing her again. "I don't want to be around people like you." he added walking out of the locker room.

"Hey Greg" Catherine said as she walked past him.

Greg didn't answer. He walked into the restroom and headed over to the sink. He splashed some cold water on his face. He was letting this whole thing with Nick up set him way to much. He couldn't believe what he had said to Sara. Part of it was true. He had never seen her like that. Never would have guessed that she'd be so mean to someone who needed so much help. He took in a few deep breaths and turned off the water.

"Greg we have to talk" Sara said.

"You're in the men's restroom" He said sounding very hateful.

"Greg I need to talk to you" She said. Greg started to walk out and Sara grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back.

"Let go of me" he yelled.

"No, you have to hear me out Greg," she said.

"Fine what is so important?" he asked.

"Have you ever been in love with someone you know you have no chance of being with," she said looking down.

"Maybe," Greg said. He wouldn't say he was in love with Nick but he still was very upset that he wouldn't get the chance to find out.

"Well I have," she said. "And sometimes love makes you do stupid things." She said as a tear ran down her face. She quickly wiped it away. She forced a laugh. "You do something without thinking what it will do to that relationship," she said again wiping away other tear. "Greg I'm in love with you, I have been for a long time," she said no longer wiping way the tears.

"And I just couldn't stand to see you with someone like that guy. I mean I always knew I never had a chance because you're gay. I thought I would be ok with you finding someone, but when it came down to it. I wasn't. It hurt so badly. Much more then I thought it would. And the fact that he was homeless" She stopped. "I think if you had found someone that was better than me would have made it easier. But..." She turned away placing her hands over her face.

Greg slowly turned her around and pulled her close. "Oh god Sara, I'm so sorry," he said.

"Greg, I don't cry," she said laying her head on his shoulder.

"I know," he said running his finger though her hair.

She pulled away. "So please don't hate me. I'm so sorry," she whispered.

"Sara, I could never hate you, why didn't you tell me sooner?" he asked.

"And say what. Are you sure you're really gay because I have feelings for you. Maybe you could give it a try just to make sure. See if you are wrong," she said.

"No, just something, I don't know," he said.

"Greg, this is why I could never tell you because now you feel bad." She said. "It's going to change everything between us."

"What do we do now?" he asked. When he told her to stay away from him earlier he didn't really mean it. He knew that would make up a few hours or days later and everything would be fine. But now this felt like she was ending it.

"Greg, I thought I would be ok seeing you with someone else. I know this is stupid because we've never even dated. But when we hung out as friends it felt like a date. Seeing you with Nick killed me. It hurt me so much," again the tears.

"Sara you're my best friend," he said fighting back his own tears now.

"I'm sorry Greg, I just can't. Seeing you with someone else would just kill me," she turned and walked out of the rest room.

Greg just stood there. This may be the worst day of his life. He just found out his best friend was in love with him. And it sure seemed like she was ending their friendship. And what happened with Nick before he came to work. Greg let out a long breath and walked out of the restroom.

"Greg I paged you like an hour again," Gil said.

"Not now I'm busy." he snapped walking into past him.

"What did he say?" Gil asked.

"He said he was busy," Hodges said.

Greg walked up the steps leading to the roof. He walked out side and walked over the edge. He leaned on it looking up at the sky. It was a clear night, but still very cold. He couldn't see very many stars because of all the lights. He rubbed his hands on his arms. It was freezing cold out and he wondered how Nick lasted so long out here. He sighed and closed his eyes. He stood out side until his teeth where chattering and finely headed back inside.

"Greg!" Gil shouted. "I paged you over an hour ago and you tell me not now I'm busy and you've been standing out side in the cold without a coat". His voice started out hash but softened as he finished.

"Are you ok?" he asked.

"No not really, just having a really shitty day," he said.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Gil asked.

"Not really," Greg said. "What do you need me to do?"

"A hit and run. Someone called in a body, could you go check it out," Gil said holding out a piece of paper.

"Hey," he said taking it. He walked into the locker room and put on his coat. He shut it and walked out.

"I'm stuck with you Sanders," Jim said.

Greg just nodded and followed him out to the car. Much to Greg's dismay it was a homeless man that had been hit. Greg processed the scene without saying one word to Jim. He was with Greg never shuts up Sanders. Jim had tried to get him to talk but after a while gave up.

"Ok," Greg said. "That all I need."

"Think you can find the guy?" Jim asked.

"Hey I know you, you where at the shelter. What did you do with Nicky?" an older man shouted.

Greg turned and looked at him.

"I helped him out. He's very sick," Greg said.

"Greg we really should be going," Jim said grabbing Greg's arm.

"You put him in jail didn't you, you asshole?" the man yelled.

Jim pulled Greg to the car.

"Are you nuts? Just tell every homeless person out there that you helped that bum and they will be all over you," Jim said opening the door.

"Maybe I will help them all!" Greg snapped trying to pull away from Jim.

"Don't make me kick your ass in front of everyone. Get in the car." Jim said easily pushing Greg into the car.

Greg finally sat down.

"What is wrong with you? Did you take a stupid pill or what?" Jim asked.

"No, I'm just having a bad day." Greg said.

"Yeah well I'm all for helping people out but that is just stupid Greg. I know that you lucked out with that guy, and that's he is a good person, but they're not all going to be like that."

"Who told you that?" Greg asked.

"Rick did, he said he was a nice guy. I still can't believe you let him in your house."

"Jim I don't wanna talk about it. Can you please drop it?" He asked looking out the window.

"Fine," Jim said pulling up to the lab. Greg looked out the window. He felt like screaming. He was so pissed. Jim parked the car and Greg got out and got the evidence out of the car. He noticed Sara's car was gone. He walked into the lab. Jim was close behind him.

Greg handed the bag of stuff to Hodges.

"What would you like me to do?" he asked.

"Your fucking job," Greg said.

"Greg my office now," Gil said.

Greg turned and walked to his office.

"What was that about?" Gil asked.

"It was a stupid question," Greg said.

"Greg I think you need to go home and figure out what is wrong; you are not acting like yourself at all." Gil said.

"I'm fine. I'll finish the case."

"No you're going home. Don't come back here until you've fixed what ever is bothering you."

Greg stood up and walked out of Gil's office. He walked out to his car and got in. He punched the steering wheel over and over.

Greg sat in his car for almost an hour. He had his music blearing. When he did finally get out of the car his ears where ringing. He thought about going to a bar and getting drunk. He even thought about calling Warrick to see if he'd come out with him.

But no he just sat in his car. He didn't think, he just listened to the music, singing at the top of his lungs, banging his head along with the beat. He did feel better even thought nothing was solved He got his keys out and unlocked the door. He walked inside.

Nick opened his eyes hearing the door. He sat up.

Greg walked into the living room seeing Nick.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you" he said.

"I wasn't asleep" Nick said.

Greg nodded and made his way into the kitchen.

Nick slowly lifted his weak body off the couch. He leaned on the coffee table waiting for the room to stop spinning. He made is way into the kitchen.

"I would of gotten you what ever you needed, you should be in bed" Greg said.

Nick took a few steps closer to Greg. He reached his shacking hand out and touch Greg's face.

He leaned in. Their lips touched, softly at first. Greg wrapped his arms around Nick and pulled him closer. The kiss turned almost despite. Greg could taste the sweetness of the soda Nick had finished. Nick finally pulled away needing to breath.

He took a few breaths. "I'm sorry" he said. "I got scared."

Greg smiled. "It's ok" he said. Nick's body was getting weaker in Greg arms.

Greg helped him back to the couch. They both sat down.

Nick was still breathing hard. Greg took his hand. Greg leaned Nick back. Nick shirt was already off.

Nick closed his eyes as Greg placed small kisses on his chest and neck. Nick held his hand tighter and Greg moved down to his belly button. He slowly made his way back up once again finding Nick's lips. There arms held each other close and Greg moved on top of Nick. Making sure most of his weight was on his legs. Greg pulled away again sensing Nicks need to breath. He leaned forward and kissed Nick's neck.

Greg looked at Nick. He slowly got up, sitting on the table.

"I've had a very bad day" Greg said.

Nick sat up just a bit.

"I just don't want it to happen because of that" Greg said. Nick smiled.

"You're old fashioned?" He asked.

"Kinda, we haven't even gone on our first date" Greg said. Even though he wanted to. But from the look on Nick's face he'd made the right choice. "And I think we need to get you healthy before we do anything else. You still look pretty bad" he added.

Nick nodded and laid back down on the couch. Greg smiled again.

"So at my work, We've got a great doctor there. He said he'd give you a look over. He thinks he knows why you stare off" Greg added.

Nick let of a slow breath. "What did he say?" Nick asked.

"Said it may be something called Petit-mal seizers. He would like to take a look at you."

Nick looked down "Ok" he said.

"Good, I'll give him a call and see when he can look you over" Greg said. He walked out of the room.

Nick closed his eyes. He knew this would be the harder part for him. Greg seemed to care. And it seemed to be genuine. Nick wasn't used to taking things from people. He always had to fight for everything. But he wasn't going to allow his pride to get in the way.

"He could see you now" Greg said. "It's a slow night"

"Hey way are you home so early anyways" Nick asked. It was only 10:45.

"Like I said, I had a really bad day." Greg said.

"I'm sorry" Nick said.

"No, it wasn't you, had a fight with Sara" he said.

Nick nodded. Greg helped him put his shoes on and helped him stand up. Nick leaned on Greg with each step he took.

"I'm glad you're going, I don't think the doctor should of sent you home this soon" Greg said.

"I just don't feel any better. It's like the pills he gave me aren't helping. My chest still feels tight" Nick said.

"Doc's a good guy. He'll help you out" Greg said helping Nick into his coat.

They walked out side. Nick almost gasped as the cold air entered his lungs. Greg unlocked the car and helped Nick in. He got in and started it, quickly turning on the heat.

"I can't believe it's this cold" Nick said.

"I know, I just don't get it." Greg said as he pulled into the all. "Oh he works in the morgue so don't freak out."

"As long as he doesn't keep me there" Nick said with a nervous laugh. Greg helped Nick out of the car and they made there way inside.

"Oh hello there Gregory" Doc said. "Please come in."

"And you must be Nick" he said as Greg helped Nick sit down on the table. "So nice to meet you."

"Thanks" Nick said shaking his head.

Doc moved his hand away quickly and placed it on Nick's forehead. "Hmm" he said.

"When did they send you home" he said now taking his temp.

"Uh it was Saturday" Nick said. "I was only there for two nights."

"I told them it was too soon" Greg said. "But they wouldn't listen. Cause he didn't have any insurance."

Doc nodded. "Hmm 102, what did they send you home with."

"Amoxicillin, I think" Nick said

"Really, you're kidding right?" Doc said.

Nick shook his head.

"Well, you should be taking Telithromycin for one thing. I'm going to take some blood and run some more test."

"Doc, we've got two DB's on the way" David said.

"I'm sorry; we'll have to finish this later. I will come in an hour early tomorrow if that will work with you. I want to see what kind of seizure activities you have" Doc said as he drew some of Nick's blood.

"Ok, doc will see you tomorrow," Greg said.

Doc handed Greg the new prescription.

"That should help you Nick" he said. "Get some for the fever as well."

Greg once again helped Nick out to the car. And they headed to the drug store.

Nick slowly got off the couch and stood up. This was the first time in days that he didn't feel dizzy. Whatever Greg's friend at work gave him was helping. He made his way into the restroom and pulled off his clothes. He stepped into the shower and turned on the water. He made it very hot. He leaned his head back into the water letting it run down his thin body. He ran his shaky hands through this hair, then over his face. He needed to shave; he was getting much more than a five o'clock shadow.

Greg got out of bed and walked into the living room.

"Nick" he said. He walked down the hallway hearing the shower. He noticed the door was cracked open. Greg walked to the door and looked inside. He could but watch Nick in the shower.

"I wonder if Greg has an electric shaver," He thought as he reached for the shampoo. He had to admit it was nice being able to take a shower whenever he wanted to and be in there as long as he wanted to. He raised his hair again taking his time to enjoy the hot water. Most of the shelter's he had been at only had cold water. You where in and out in five minutes or less. He then reached for the body wash. He ran it over his body. Again, he took his time raising himself off.

Greg took a slow breath. He found himself very turned on but also filled with worry. Nick was nothing but skin and bones. Greg jumped hearing the shower turn off, moving out of sight.

Nick reached for a towel and ran it over his body drying himself off. He ran it thought his hair a few times than wrapped it around his waist.

"Hey Greg" Nick called out.

Greg jumped when Nick called his name out.

"Are you wake?"

Greg waited then called out, "Yeah what do you need?" as he walked into the restroom.

"Do you have an electric razor?" Nick asked.

"Sorry man, mine's at work, all I got is a razor," He said.

Nick signed. "Can't use them," he said.

Greg made a face. "I could help you shave," he said.

Nick let out a long breath.

"Or you know, mine's at work, you could just use it when we go up there" Greg said.

Nick looked over at Greg. "No you can help me," he said.

Greg nodded and got a razor out of his drawer. He got out of the shaving cream. Nick sat down on the toilet. Greg help cover Nick's cheeks, chin and neck with the shaving cream. He carefuly ran the razor over this skin being very careful not to cut him.

"I feel so useless," Nick said once he was done. He stood up and walked out of the restroom. Greg tossed the razor in the trash and followed Nick into the living room.

"Can I borrow something to wear?" He asked.

Greg nodded. "You know we all need help every now and then. Some just need more then others," Greg said as he walked out. He picked out a pair of jeans and a button down shirt. Nick had only been wearing sweatpants the last few days and Greg hoped it would make him feel better.

"I hope you don't mind, I got you some underwear," Greg said walking into the room.

"Thanks" Nick said taking the clothes. He walked back into the restroom and got dressed. He ran his finger though is hair getting it out of his eyes. He again spaced off. Greg stood in the doorway. This one seemed a lot longer then normal. Nick finally blinked a few times and looked around the room.

"You look nice," Greg, said walking in. "Here I got you a belt" Since Greg's cloths where very baggy on him.

"Thanks" Nick said taking the belt from him. He put it on and took a step back as if to you look himself over.

Greg smiled. "Now if you don't mind, I need to shower."

"Give me a minute" Nick said trying to hide his smile.

Greg shook his head.

Nick stood at the mirror a bit longer and messing with his hair.

"I know a great place to get your hair cut," Greg said.

"And have a dew like you, no thinks, I'll just go to sleep with wet hair and get that look" Nick said smiling.

Greg had a hurt look on his face. "What, I spend a lot of time on my hair. I don't just get out of bed and go."

"Really wow, I'm sorry," Nick said still smiling.

"Get out of my bathroom" Greg said playfully pushing him.

"Ok, ok, gee man, didn't now your hair meant that much to you" Nick said walking out.

Greg pulled off his clothes and got in the shower. He groaned a bit as he tried to turn on the hot water. Nothing but cold came out.

"Oh shit," he said taking faster shower, he would remember in a long time. He got out and wrapped a towel around him, rubbing his arms trying to warm up. Greg walked back into his bedroom and got dressed. He returned to the living room to find Nick once again staring off.

Nick looked around.

"That was a fast shower," Nick said.

"Yeah someone used up all the hot water" Greg said sitting down.

"Oh sorry" Nick said.

"I told Doc to meet us there at four. That is an hour before my shift. Wanna get some lunch before we go."

"Are you asking me out on a date?" Nick asked.

"Nope not yet, I don't do lunch dates. They are a waste of time. No this will be two friends just eating something before work," Greg said smiling.

"Oh I see" Nick said.

"See I need like four or five hours for someone to get the full Greg experience" he said standing up.

Nick shook his head smiling.

"That is if you feel up to lunch. You seem to be feeling better today." Greg said.

"Yeah, I'm still a bit tired but I'm not so dizzy" Nick said.

Greg put his hand on Nick's forehead. "You still have a bit of a fever," Greg said. "Maybe I should just order a pizza."

"What ever you wanna do is fine with me," Nick said.

"Are you up for eating out?" Greg asked.

"Yeah I think so," Nick said slowly standing up. He took a step and lost his balance. Greg caught him. They stood there face to face. Nick leaned forward and there lips touched. Greg slowly pulled away from him and lowered him back down to the couch. "Pizza it is," he said.

"I'm sorry," Nick said looking down.

"No big deal, there is plenty of time for that later" Greg said smiling. He reached over and took Nick's hand in his own.

Nick swallowed and leaned back. Greg got the phone and ordered the pizza.

"It'll be here in 35 minutes," Greg said.

Nick nodded again.

"Just give your self some time," Greg said. "You're still pretty sick."

"You know I used to be strong" Nick said. "I could take care of myself, I could work, I had a life, and I had a boyfriend. It was a great. I was so happy. I had friends and we'd get together all the time. Going to parties, clubbing, and football games, you name it. Then I got sick and this happened." He paused. "It just shows you what kind of people your friends really are. Once this happened."

He held out his hands. "They all left me. First was my boyfriend. We were gonna get married even. Had it all planned. A weekend trip to Canada. Once he realized I couldn't work anymore, he baled. Locked me out when I was at the office. He called the police on me saying I was trying to break into his place. So I left. I went back to my friend's place. He was acting weird around me. Then I was hit with a bunch of doctor bills. And next thing I know he sued me for everything I had." Nick said. "Because I wasn't going to be able to work anymore."

"Not everyone is like that" he said.

"I know" Nick said softly. "I just want to be who I was before this" he added.

Greg didn't say anything. He wasn't sure what to say. He just looked at Nick and took his hand.

The doorbell rang, making them both jump.

"Pizza" Greg said standing up. He walked to the door and took the pizza boxes. He put them on the table and grabbed the two twentys in the ash tray to pay the guy.

"Keep the change," Greg said.

Nick looked over at the door.

"Wow, sir thank you so much."

"Thanks for getting here so fast" he said after the driver walked away Greg shut the door.

Greg went into the kitchen and got out a few plates and pops. He walked back into the living room.

He put the plates down and opened the lid for one of the boxes.

He got himself two pieces and got out two for Nick.

"Thanks" Nick said. "It's been a year since I've had Pizza"

Greg took a bite and glanced at Nick. He opened his can of pop.

Nick reached for his and opened it. He held it with both hands as he lifted it to his mouth.

"Maybe Doc can help with that to," Greg said.

"God, I hope so," Nick said putting the can down.

Doc took a step back and placed a finger on his lip.

"Hmm" he said. "Oh yes".

Greg looked at him then over at Nick who was having a petit-mal seizer. Nick blinked a few times and looked around the room.

"Ok Nick, could you please hold out your hands?" Doc said.

Nick held them out.

"They never shook before your surgery?" He asked.

Nick shook his head putting them down.

"Any thing left shaking?"

Nick again just shook his head.

"So how are you feeling?" he asked.

"A lot better, that stuff you gave me really helped. I'm still a bit tired," he said. "And I do get a bit light headed sometimes."

"Well your blood work was ok. You're a bit ammonic, you need to eat better. I am going to start you on Depakote 500 mg twice a day and we will see what that does. I would also like to get you on a prenatal vitamin. Before you say anything, they are great for helping someone that was had a very poor diet. But it won't do any good if you don't eat."

Nick looked down and let out a very defeated sigh.

"I also believe you're a bit depressed. I would like to start you on WELLBUTRIN XL. And for your handsÃ…"

Nick looked up and held his breath.

"I'm going to put you on Propranolol 100mg twice a day. It has been known to help prevent tremors. So we will give it a shot.

"Thank you so much" Nick said.

Greg looked at Nick and smiled. Nick tried to smile back.

"This should help. I can't tell you for sure if it will stop them completely but it will help calm then down." Doc said. "You should take on first thing when you wake and then one around two or so in the afternoon. But with that and the Depakote you should get good results."

"Thanks again" Nick said.

"If you need anything less or feel something isn't working for you stop by anytime" Doc said.

Nick nodded and stood up. He followed Greg out into the lounge. He started to fell a bit light head. He stopped. Greg walked back to him, took his arm, and led him into the break room.

Sara looked up to see them enter.

"Hey Sara" Greg said and lead Nick over to the couch.

She nodded and took a sip of her coffee. She slowly stood up and left the room.

"Do you think I should go after her?" Greg asked

Nick shook his head. "I wouldn't, this is something she needs to deal with on her own."

Greg nodded.

"Greggo you and I got a case, we need to go, Gil is already upset. Hey Nicky you are looking a lot better."

"What I'm not even late, in fact I'm early," he said standing up. "I can call you a cab to take you home," Greg said.

"No, don't do that. I can just hang out here, if that's ok," he said.

"I don't see why not," Greg said. "I'll get these filled while we are out too," he added.

Nick nodded and sat back on the couch.

"Here's a few bucks if you wanna get a drink or something out of the vending machine," Greg said.

Nick took the money and put it in his pocket.

"See you later," Greg said and he followed Warrick out.

Nick closed his eyes. He opened them hearing the door open.

"Who are you?" Gil asked.

"I'm Greg's friend Nick," he said.

"Oh, very nice to meet you" Gil said walking out. Nick again closed his eyes.

"You wanted to talk to me," Gil asked walking up to Sara.

"Yes, I did. I can't keep on working with Greg. We are having problems and I do not see any way of working them out. I want to be transferred to days," she said.

"Sara, I need you on nights," he said.

"Then I'm giving my two weeks notice" she said.

"Sara wait, we can work something out"

"I'm sorry Gil, I just can't do it. It breaks my heart seeing him," she said softly.

Gil looked a Sara. "I would rather lose him then you. What if I transferred him to days?" Gil asked.

"That would work," she said.

"Do you want to tell me what this is about?" He asked.

Sara glanced at break room door.

Gil nodded. She turned and walked down to the restroom. She stood in front of the mirror and wiped the tears way from her face.

"Since when do you stand in front of the mirror, oh Sara what's wrong are you ok?" Catherine asked.

"I will be," she said.

"Wanna talk about it?" Catharine asked.

"No thank you" Sara said. She again walked out and headed down hallway. She stopped in front of the door. She could hear Nick in there coughing. She placed her hand on the door but stopped.

"Sara, that's not going to help" Gil said.

"I'm better then him, he's a homeless bum" she said wiping the tears away again.

"It's not about who is better or not, it's about that makes Greg happy" Gil said softly.

"It's not fair, why does he have to be gay?" She asked.

Gil pulled her close and held her. He ran his hands though hair.

"Shh" was the only thing he could think of saying.

Sara slowly pulled away from him.

"I'm such a baby," she said. "I shouldn't cry over this."

"It's ok to cry Sara; nobody will think less of you."

She nodded. Her pager went off.

"It's Hodges. My trace is back," she said turning away.

"If you need me, my door is always open," Gil said as she walked away. Gil again walked inside the break room.

Nick looked up at him. Gil got a cup of coffee.

"Would you like a cup," he asked.

Nick nodded. "Just black" he said.

"So why did Greg bring you to work?" he asked sitting the cup in front of Nick.

Nick told Gil everything that had happened the last few days. Gil looked at Nick.

"Well Greg is very lucky to have met you," he finely said.

"What do you mean?" Nick said.

"I'm sure you know that Greg has come into a lot of new money. He has been struggling with that for a while, wondering if he'd find someone. Now he's found someone with a good heart." Gil said.

Nick looked down and blushed a bit.

"Don't let the fact that you've had a bad go change you Nick. You have a good soul. Greg is a very caring person. He was a gift. He can see people. However, it doesn't take a gift to see why he cares about you. It's easy to see."

Nick blushed even more. Gil stood up and walked out of the room. Nick looked up and reached for the coffee taking it in both hands. He took a long drink. Then put the cup back down. He leaned back and placed his heads behind his head.

Gil looked up from his pile of paper work. He could hear Greg and Warrick talking.

"Greg, I need to see you in my office," Gil said.

Greg stopped and walked into Gil's office.

"Shut the door" he said.

"What did I do?" Greg asked.

"Warrick get you ear off the door" Gil yelled.

Warrick backed away from the door and headed into the break room. He stopped and slowly made his way back to Gil's office.

"I'm going to have to move you to days," Gil said.

"What days, why" Greg said.

"It will work out much better for everyone by me making this change."

"But" Greg started to say. He turned and looked at Gil. "Oh, I see. Ok"

"You can have the rest off the week off so you can adjust to your new schedule. I want you here on Monday at 7 am sharp." He said.

"Warrick if you don't' get away from the door I'll put you on weekends" Gil yelled.

Warrick again walked away from the door.

"So enjoy your time off," Gil said.

Greg nodded and stood up. He opened the door and Warrick fell forward. Gil rolled his eyes.

"I was just going to the lab." Warrick said.

"Weekends need a new CSI" Gil said.

"I'm gone." Warrick said. He followed Greg.

"What happened G?" he asked.

"I'm going to days," he said.

"What on man that sucks, why is he moving you to days" Warrick asked.

"Because I'm not Sara," Greg said. "I'm off the rest of the week". He said heading down to the break room. He still had Nick's proscription in his hands.

They entered the break room. Nick looked up.

"Well we can go now," Greg said. "I'm done for the night."

"Really" Nick said standing up. He grabbed his coat and put it on. Greg was still wearing his.

"I'm off the rest of the week. I'm moving to days," he said forcing a smile. He headed out to his car. Nick was close behind him.

"Greg."

He stopped and turned seeing Sara.

"I'm sorry" she said and turned away.

Greg did not say anything. He and Nick walked outside.

"Shit it's cold" Nick said as the cold air almost took his breath way.

Greg unlocked the door and they both got in.

"Day's now," Nick said.

"Yeah" Greg said.

"Days aren't so bad," Nick said.

"No, I think it will work out just fine" Greg said.

Nick sat on the couch and stared at his hands. It had only been a day since he'd gotten the pills from Doc Robbins, but already he could see an improvement. He reached for his cup of coffee with only one had and raised it to his mouth. He took a sip and placed it back on the table.

Nick leaned back and looked around Greg's home. If it wasn't for the TV, the sound system, and the Xbox 360 most would not be able to tell Greg was a worth lot of money.

Nick let out a long sigh. He got up and walked down the hall and stopped in Greg's doorway. Greg was still asleep. He was lying on his stomach with a pillow over his head. Nick could hear him snoring softly.

Nick pulled his coat closer to him, turned and walked out of the house. The cold air took Nick's breath away and it burned as it entered his lungs. He lowered his head as he walked. It helped a little, but he knew he wouldn't last long in this cold. Nick reached the corner and looked around. He saw Ray's Diner. He walked across the street and stood in front of the door. Again he looked around and then made his way inside.

"Can I help you sir?"

Nick took in a few deep breaths, letting the warm air fill his lungs.

"I'm meeting someone."

Sara waved at him. "Over here, Nick."

He wasn't sure if he should turn around, but he did and walked over to the table.

Sara said, "Have a seat, Nick."

"I was really surprised that you called me and wanted to get together," Nick quietly exclaimed as he sat down.

In a voice Nick had never heard her use, she asked, "What are you doing?"

"I'm meeting you for coffee," he said.

She asked, "No, I mean with Greg, why are you doing this?"

"He's been so kind to me and I think there could be a lot more," he said.

Sara asked, "So you're gay?" Her hateful tone give Nick the chills. He only nodded.

"Oh, so wow, your life if set now. You found a nice rich man to take care of you and now you don't have to sleep in a trash can any more." She stared at him as she took a sip of her coffee.

"No, that's not it at all," Nick said.

"Why? Tell me Nick, what do you have to give back to him? You have nothing, he's going to have to take care of you and you won't get a job."

Nick dejectedly said, "I can't get a job."

"Oh, your hands, I forgot," said Sara sarcastically. "Maybe if you had laid off the drugs and drinking that wouldn't have happened."

"Is this why you called me? So you could put me down," he said his hands now shaking again.

Looking at his hands, she said, "How long has it been Nick? I bet you want a drink now, don't you?"

Nick put his hands under the table.

"Been a while since you've gotten drunk? You can't drink around Greg, that would ruin your whole plan," she said.

Nick asked, "Oh, I have a plan?"

Sara nodded. "You've found easy street, you're set now. Just had to lay off the juice for a while to make Greg think that you're just a very unlucky guy."

Nick shook his head. He took his cup of coffee with both hands.

"I want you to tell me what you have to give him," she said in a cold tone.

"I, I, I . . . "

Sara said, "See, even you know you don't have anything to give. You know this will always be a one-sided relationship. You will be using him. And you know it."

Nick looked out the window.

Sara pulled out her wallet. "I'm giving you five hundred dollars. I'm sure deep down somewhere that you are a good person. Get a bus ticket and get as far way from here as you can. Before you hurt him. Because you know you will. You are not meant to be with someone like him. You want Greg to be happy right?"

Nick pressed his lips together and nodded.

"So do the right thing and leave. If you leave now, it won't hurt him as much and he'll get over you much faster." She placed the money on the table and walked out.

Nick picked up the money and looked at it.

Maybe she was right. What was he thinking? How could he really be with someone like Greg? He wiped a tear from his cheek and stood up. He put the money in his pocket and walked outside.

Sara waited for him outside, "The bus station is across town. You want a ride?"

"No, I'll walk," Nick said.

"You're doing the right thing, Nick. I knew you could be a good person after all." Sara swiftly walked away.

Nick pulled his coat close to him as the wind blew harder. He wished he had a pair of gloves and put his hands deep in his pockets. He felt something in his other pocket and pulled it out. It was the money Greg had given him from the other day. He'd never used it. Nick sighed and pushed it back into his pocket. He started to walk down the road and he slouched as he walked. He stopped when a car pulled up next to him.

"You won't make it do the bus station," Sara flatly stated.

Nick said, "Don't you think you've done enough?"

"No, not until I know you're gone and out of Greg's life," she said. "Get in."

Nick stopped and opened the car door.

"That more like it," Sara said.

He stared out the window as Sara drove.

"I think you should go somewhere warmer," she said. "Florida is nice most of the time."

"Yeah and it's far away, too. That way when someone finds you dead, overdosed in an alley somewhere it won't be Greg," Sara said.

"Yeah, I wouldn't want to do that to him," Nick said.

Sara pulled up to the bus station.

As he got out of the car he said, "So, are you going to come in, buy my ticket, and hold my hand while we wait? You want to personally put me on the bus when it's time to go?"

"Don't be a smartass," she said driving off. Nick looked at the bus station. He looked around. He noticed a few homeless guys standing on the other side of the street.

"The police should do something about them," he heard. He was one of them just a week ago, maybe he was still one of them. How could *he* make Greg happy? He felt he was a poor excuse of a man now. Nick spaced off.

"Sir, hey you," the policeman waved his hand in front of Nick's face.

Nick blinked a few times and looked at the officer.

He asked, "Sir, are you ok?"

Nick nodded. "I had a seizure," he said.

"You should sit. Should I call an ambulance for you?" He stopped. "Wait, I know you."

"You do?" Nick asked.

"You're Greg's friend. I saw you at the crime lab. I work a lot of crime scenes with him."

"Oh yeah," Nick said and he relaxed just a bit.

"Is he around? It sucks that they moved him to days. I won't get to work with him as much. He's a great guy. My wife and I just had a baby and he got us the greatest crib. Things are kinda tight for us. She was on bed rest for a long time. Anyway, tell him thanks," he paused. "Wait, are you leaving town?"

Nick said, "I'm not sure, someone feels it would be best if I did."

The officer nodded. "Well good luck," he said and walked off.

Nick stepped inside the bus station. He had to get out of the cold air. He walked into the restroom and looked in the mirror.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greg started and got out of bed. He walked into the living room.
"Hey Nick," he said. Greg didn't hear anything. "I thought we could go on that date today."
He called out again, "Nick?" He went into the living room. Greg sighed, seeing Nick's coat was gone.
"Dammit," Greg swore. He punched the wall.
"Sara was right all along," he thought, making his way back into his bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nick stood in the line and waited for his turn.

"Next. Hello, next," said the ticket agent.

Nick was pushed forward. He blinked and looked around.

"Sorry."

"I don't have all day."

"I need a ticket to Chicago leaving today," he said.

"Fine, that will be one hundred thirty-five dollars, please." Nick pulled out the money and gave it to her. She handed him his change and the ticket. Nick turned and got out of the line. He let out a long sigh.

Nick leaned on the wall waiting. Sara had been right about one thing. He was dying to do something since he'd been with Greg. He slowly made his way to the magazine rack. He picked up a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. He paid for them with the money Greg had given him. He walked outside smacking the pack on the side of his hand a few times and opened it. He pulled one out and lit it. He lifted it to his mouth and took a long drag off of it. He leaned his head back and slowly blew out the smoke. He finished it and placed the pack in his pocket. He walked back inside.

"Am I to late, did I miss the bus?" Someone called out.

Nick smiled. "No Dora you've got an hour before the bus leaves."

"I can't believe you're doing this for me" she said.

"Well it' your chance to start over. Here is 300 dollars to get you on your way" he said handing her the money and tickets.

"Oh Nicky I don't know how to thank you" she said hugging him. " I mean it, I owe you big."

"Well call me when you find your family and get settled in" he said.

"Yeah but what about you, you don't look so good. You could of gotten away. Why did you do this" she asked.

"I've got something good going on here" he said.

"So you got a place to stay and food to eat?" she asked.

"Yeah don't worry about me" he said softly.

She hugged Nick again and took the ticket and money.

"I'll call you when I find them" she said. Nick watched as she walked over to the bus. He turned and headed outside. It seemed even colder now. He started to wonder if he could make it home to Greg's place. He walked over to the payphone. He pressed 0.

"Operator can I help you?"

"I need the number for a Greg Sanders" he said pulling his coat closer. It was now starting to snow again.

"Would you like me to call the number for you sir."

"Yeah that would be great" Nick said.

Greg sat up in bed. He reached for the phone.

"Sanders, shit yeah."

"What kind of way is that to answer the phone" Nick said.

"Nick" Greg said sitting up. "Where are you."

"I'm at the bus station, very long story, could you come get me" he asked.

"The bus station" Greg said.

"Yeah, like I said it's a long story"

"Ok, give me a few minutes" Greg said and hung up the phone. He got out of bed and grabbed a pair of jeans and put them on. He found a sweatshirt and added that. He went into the living room and put on his socks and shoes. He picked up his coat and put it on. He found his keys and wallet and headed outside to his car.

"Holly shit it's cold" he said as he unlocked it and got in. "I should have gotten the auto starter" He waited for the car to warm up and headed down to the bus station.

Nick pulled his cigarettes out of his pocket and lit one. His head was starting to hurt and he hoped it would help. He saw Greg's jeep pulling up. He put the cigarette out and walked down to the jeep. He opened the door and got in.

"So what's going on" Greg said not trying to hide the announce in his voice.

Nick leaned back. "Sara called me and asked me to meet her at a dinner" he said. "I thought that she was going to try and talk or something. But she gave me 500 bucks and told me to get a bus ticket out of here."

Greg eyes widened and his mouth dropped.

"I know this homeless lady; she hooked up with the wrong guy. Long story short, I got her a ticket so she could go home and find her parents."

"Sara did that" Greg said. "I can't believe she'd do that to you. I mean she's my friend or she was my friend" Greg said. "I thought you left"

"Sorry about that. I just thought we where going to talk" Nick said.

"I'm glad you didn't leave" Greg said almost shyly.

"Me to" Nick said smiling.

"So I was thinking maybe we could go on that date tomorrow" Greg asked hopefully. He tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

"I'd like that" Nick said.

"Good" Greg said as he pulled the car up to his house. They both got out and quickly made there way inside.

"This is nuts" Greg said. "I'm just shocked she did that, Why is she doing this."

Nick just shrugged his shoulder. Part of him felt that Sara could be right. Nick walked to the couch and sat down once he removed his coat and shoes. Greg did the same and sat next to him.

He looked down at his hands. They where barely moving.

"You smell like smoke" Greg said.

Nick pulled the pack out of his pocket and tossed them on the table. "Nasty habit, I use to do it all the time when I'd get stressed out."

Greg nodded. "She said some pretty bad things didn't she" he asked.

Nick nodded. "I want to be honest with you. This is hard for me. I mean because of everything you have and I have nothing." Nick said.

Greg nodded.

"It just feels so wrong sometimes, and then it feels so right. I want to get know you, maybe see where it goes but then there also the fact I have no where left to go. IÃ…." Nick stopped and placed his hand on his head. He wanted to smoke very badly.

"You know, winning the money was the best thing that happened to me and the worst thing. I mean I got to help my parents out, got a new car and a nice house. But I don't want it to ruin what we could have together" Greg said.

"I just don't know how to get around it. I mean it would be different if I had my own place, had a job" Nick said his hands starting to shake again.

"So are you saying you don't want to give this a try" Greg said.

"No, I'm not, I really like you, I want to get to know you. It's just" he paused. "If something doesn't work out between usÃ… I can't go back on the street" he said trying to fight back the tears. "And then I would be using you, and what if I'm so afraid of going back out there that I do use you." Nick said. He grabbed the pack of the table. He started to put it back down.

"You can smoke in here" Greg said. "Nick, that won't happen. I know you're a good person. I'm not worried about it. I trust you."

Nick lit one and got a long drag from it. He looked at Greg.

"I also can tell that you're a worrier" Greg said.

Nick wiped his eyes with his free hand and took another puff.

"I'm going to pay you back for everything" he said.

"I know you will" Greg said.

"I mean it" Nick said.

"Good, so now will you stop worrying so much" Greg said taking his hand. He pulled Nick in and kissed him. He could taste the smoke on him. Nick placed the cigarette in the ash try and wrapped his arm around Greg. Greg pulled away just a bit so they both could breathe. Greg hoped that Nick wouldn't keep up the habit of smoking but leaned in for another kiss. Nick pulled away this time. Greg leaned him back on the couch. He placed a few kisses on Nick's neck and placed his hand on his shirt. Together they pulled it off. Greg again starting kissing his neck, He slowly made his way down to Nick belly.

Nick closed his eyes and arched up just a bit. Greg placed his hands on his hips. He undid Nick's belt and did the same with his button on his jeans. He slid them down just enough to uncover his underwear. Greg placed a kiss on Nick even thought he was still covered with his underwear. Nick let of a soft moan as Greg kissed him again. He looked up at Nick looking for some kind of sign.

"Do you want me to stop" Greg asked his voice was very hot and deep.

"It's been over two years" Nick said in a weak voice.

"Should I stop" Greg asked again. He didn't want to force Nick into anything.

Nick closed his eyes. "No" he mouthed.

Greg slowly pulled Nicks underwear down. Nick lifted himself up to help out. Nick was rock hard and a bit larger then Greg would have guessed. He took him in his hand slowly running it up and down and adding a bit of pressure as he reached the tip.

The movement took Nick's breath away and he gasped. Greg repeated the movement a few more times, letting the pre cum help coat him. His hand slid a bit easier. Greg wanted to take it slow, it had been a while for Nick and he didn't want him to cum to fast. Greg moved his hand a bit faster now, squeezing as he reached the tip.

Nick closed his eyes and grasped the cushion beneath. He held his breathing know he was on the edge of climaxing. This was going to end way too soon. Nick moaned as he came. Greg smiled and kept moving his hand up and down. Nick body relaxed just a bit and Greg let him go. He could see the almost embarrassed look on Nick's face. He smiled and moved forward kissing Nick once again. Greg stood up and went into the restroom. He got a towel and returned to the couch. Nick took the towel and cleaned himself off. He slowly sat up.

"Wow, it's really snowing now" Greg said sitting next to Nick.

Nick looked at him. Greg flashed his smile.

"Today was all about you" he said. "I'm gonna order a pizza" he said standing up.

Nick only nodded as he pulled up his underwear and pants. He picked up his cigarette and finished it off.

It will be here in 30 minutes Greg said sitting next to Nick. Greg handed him the remote. Nick flipped though the channels as Greg sat behind him. He placed his hands on Nicks shoulder and started massaging them.

"What does it take to get you to relax" Greg said working his hands harder.

"I'm getting there" Nick said stopping on Animal Planet.

Greg rolled his eyes as he moved his hands.

"Nick, wake up." Greg said shaking him. "Rise and shine sleepy head."

Nick slowly opened his eyes. "What time is it?" he asked, slowly sitting up.

"It's 6:30," Greg said sitting next to him.

"What? Why are we getting up this early?" Nick whined, falling back on the couch.

"Because it's our first date, now get up and take a shower. I left you some clothes." Greg said

"Why does our first date have to be at 6:30?" Nick whined.

"Because I said so," Greg said kissing him.

Nick looked over at him. He was already dressed. He had on a pair of jeans and a long sleeved sweatshirt.

He sat up again and stretched. He stood up and made his way into the restroom. He pulled off his clothes and got into the shower.

Greg sat back on the couch and yawned. He got up and went into the kitchen.

"Hmm," he said smelling the fresh coffee. He got out two cups and filled them both. He also got out the oatmeal and started it.

By the time Nick entered the kitchen Greg had breakfast ready. Nick sat down at the table. He reached for his pills and opened each of the bottles. He took a sip of coffee to wash the pills down.

"So what are we doing this early that we don't have to dress up?" Nick said between bits of the oatmeal.

"It's a surprise!" Greg said. "But trust me you'll like it!"

"I don't like anything before 9," Nick said pushing the bowl away. He stood up and went into the living room.

"Yeah well suck it," Greg said following him.

Nick picked up the pack of cigarettes and removed one and lit it. Greg now wished he hadn't told him he could smoke in the house but if everything went like he planned today, Nick may not want to smoke anymore.

Once he finished it Greg tossed him his coat.

"Sorry I'm not much of a morning person," Nick said as he put the coat on.

"Me either," Greg said putting on his. They walked outside. The cold air made Nick gasp. He lowered his head as they hurried to the car. Greg handed Nick the keys.

"I can't believe I got this place with out a garage," Greg said opening the door. He pulled out an ice scraper and started to push the snow off. Luckily they only got a few inches. Nick got in the car and started it. He coughed a few times as Greg got in.

"Doc would kick your ass if he know you were smoking and you were sick" Greg said tossing the brush in the back seat.

"I know," Nick said rubbing his hands together.

"This suck, it's Vegas, it should not be this cold," Greg almost shouted.

Nick jumped and looked at Greg.

"I'm sick of it being this cold. Sorry," he said smiling.

Greg backed the car down his driveway.

"I'm getting a garage added on," he said.

Nick shook his head and looked out the window. The further Greg drove, the more he wondered where he was taking him.

"You're not going to drive me out to the desert and kill me and hide the body are you?" He asked.

"No, that never works, the animals always find the body," Greg said with a straight face. "The water is the best place to dump a body, gets rid of all the evidence." With a smile.

"Oh so I don't have to worry then?" Nick said.

"Not today," Greg said. After about a 40 mile drive Greg turned down a gravel road.

"Are you sure you not going to dump me?" Nick asked looking out the window. "Where are we?"

"A buddy of mine has a ranch," Greg said. "He's been bugging me to come out and ride some of his horses."

Nick turned and looked at him. They pulled up to the barn.

"But I don't know how to ride, so I was hoping you could teach me," Greg said stopping the car.

"I can do that," Nick said. He couldn't hide the smile on his face. They both got out of the car and walked inside the huge barn.

"What is that smell?" Greg asked making a face.

"You don't wanna know," Nick said looking around.

"Hey there Greg it's about time." Someone called out. A man walked over to him. He was about 6 feet tall with black hair. It was hidden by his cowboy hat. He wore jeans and a flannel shirt and cowboy boats. He looked a lot older than Greg. Nick guessed he was in his 50s or so.

"Nick this is Jonathan, Jonathan, Nick," Greg said.

Nick shook Jonathan's hand.

"So I know Greg doesn't know anything about riding but what about you?" He asked.

"It's been a while." Nick said "But I used to ride all the time. I had a few horses of my own," he said.

Jonathan nodded. "Well Greg, you can ride Reese and Nick," he paused; "I think Star will be good for you" They are in stall 12 and 16. Everything you need is there." Jonathan said. "Just yell if you need any help." He led them down the barn. "Just follow the hallway to your left and you'll find the arena. I don't think anyone is using it today," he said.

Greg and Nick made their way down the hallway. Greg stopped in front of the stall with a 16 on it. They both removed their coats and hung them up. He jumped back when black head popped out.

"Holy Shit," he said. "You are a bad horse, you scared me," he said and touched it's face. He looked at Nick.

"I bet this one is yours cause it's got a star on it head."

Greg turned to the other stall that had a 12 on it.

"Hello in there," he called out looking in the stall. "Hey you I'm going to ride you today so you better be nice to me."

Nick laughed as he opened the stall door and walked in. He was greeted with a nay and a nudge. He reached up and patted her on the head. She lowered her head down as if asking him to scratch her ears.

"She likes you," Greg said. "Mine's just standing there looking at me."

Nick patted her a few more times then took her by the halter and lead her out into the hall way. He hocked her up then made his way to Greg's horse. She tossed her head up and down a few times as Nick opened the door.

"You wanna go for a ride?" Nick said reaching for her halter. He led her out in the hallway as well, tying her up. Then he got out two brushes.

"So you're Reese, I'm Greg" he said walking around the horse.

Nick showed Greg how to brush the horse. Nick tried not to laugh as he listened to Greg talk to his ride.

"You are not going to throw me are you?" Greg asked as he ran the brush over the brown hair. "We are just going to go nice and slow. No running or jumping, just a nice slow..."

"Boring" Nick called out.

"...yes boring ride, little horse, Sorry to disappoint you, Jonathan picked you for me so you get stuck with a nice slow boring rider who doesn't know anything about horses, oh maybe I shouldn't have told you that, you may try and be a bad horse. You won't do that would you, you're going to be a good little horse," Greg said.

Nick turned to his own horse running the brush over her legs and stomach. He patted her a few more times. Next he showed Greg how to put on the saddle blanket and saddle.

"But she'll pass out if I pull it too tight" Greg said

"You'll fall off of her if you don't pull the saddle tight," Nick said.

"Oh Reese I'm so sorry, I hope you forgive me," Greg said pulling the strap tighter. "You're lucky to have me-look how tight he's putting that on her" Greg said. "Nick is so mean to you Star."

Nick walked over to Reese. He took the strap and pulled it tighter.

"Just remember, he did that not me," Greg said watching Nick adjust the saddle. Nick turned and looked at Greg.

"What?" He asked.

"You're weird," Nick said getting out the bridles.

"I have to put this piece of metal in her mouth. Doesn't that hurt her?" Greg said.

"No Greg, she's used to it, it won't hurt a bit," Nick said

After a few failed attempts, Nick put on Reese's bridal.

"See these? These are the reins," Nick said. "That's how you make her go." Nick said placing them in Greg's hands. They led the two horses down to the arena. Nick pushed the door open.

"Oh wow," he said looking around.

"It's heated too," Greg said.

Nick placed the reins on the saddle.

"Oh Nick how do I get up on her?" he said.

"Watch I'll show you," Nick said. He placed his foot into the stirrup and grabbed the horn. Nick pulled himself up and swung his leg over.

Greg stood there staring as Nick was sitting in the saddle.

"See it's easy," he said taking the reins in his hand. Star took a few steps forward then stopped.

"Yeah sure it's easy" Greg said trying to lift his leg to the stirrup. He got in and he grabbed the horn and tried to pull himself up. Nick smiled as he watched him.

"Don't laugh at me," Greg said finally pulling him self up. "Hey, where did her head go?"

Nick covered his mouth as he laughed.

"Oh my god," Greg said. "This isn't funny."

"You need to pull up with your other leg'" Nick said still laughing.

Greg glared at him. "How do I get off?" he asked.

"Like this" Nick said hopping down.

"You think this is funny but it's not" Greg said hopping down.

"Sorry, it's the one thing I can still do" Nick said. He helped Greg into the saddle. Then remounted his horse.

"Ok Reese walk," Greg said pointing forward. "Go, forward, hmm mush, go."

Nick wasn't paying any attention to him now. He gave Star a gentle touch with his foot and she walked forward. He again touched her with his foot. She was now trotting.

"See look at them! That's what I want you to do," Greg said. Reese lowered her head down and started looking for food.

"Ok, eat first then we ride, not that fast though," Greg said watching Nick and Star.

Nick had Star to a full gallop now. He glided her around the arena a few times. Then slowed her down.

He stopped her next to Greg.

"She's on a lunch break," Greg said smiling.

Nick rolled his eyes.

"Pull the reins up and give her a slight tap with your foot" Nick said.

"I'm not going to kick her, that's not very nice," Greg said.

"Just tap her with your foot, don't kick her," Nick said.

Greg pulled the reins up and tapped the side of Reese. Her head lifted and she started to walk.

"Use the reins to lead her where you want to go, if you want her to go faster just tap her again," Nick said leading Star after Reese.

"Nope, I like slow," Greg said.

"Suit yourself," Nick said dropping the reins forward and giving Star a kick. Greg watched as they bolted off.

"Sorry little horse, I don't run." Greg said. Reese kept on walking.

Jonathan stood in the doorway.

"Hey Greg," he called out.

"Your friend can ride." He said walking over to them.

"Yeah, I think Reese wishes Nick was riding her and not me."

"Reese doesn't like to run much, she's lazy," he said patting the horse. "That's why I put you on her." He adding watching Nick guide the horse around the arena.

"So he's looking for work?" Jonathan asked.

"Yeah he is," Greg said.

"Well, I can use someone to work my horses and help clean the stalls," he said. "I'm not as young as I used to be!"

Greg nodded as Reese can to a stop.

"Oh I broke it," he said.

Jonathan laughed and snacked the horse on the back end. She jumped forward almost knocking Greg off.

Greg leaned forward grabbing a handfull of the horse's hair. She ran half way up the arena then slowed down.

"Pull back on the reins to make her stop," Nick said riding up next to them.

Greg pulled back and Reese slowed down then can to a stop.

"You are not funny Jonathan," he called out. After a few lessons, Greg was almost able to keep up with Star.

Greg pulled her to a stop.

"It's even better to ride in a field," Nick said. "There is nothing like it."

"Well someday it will warm up and we can ride outside," Greg said pulling Reese to a stop.

"My butt hurts," he said shifting his weight around. He looked at his watch. "Wow, it's already 4 o'clock."

"Man we've been riding that long?" Nick said surprised. "Now I can show you how to cool a horse down and un saddle then."

Greg nodded. The led the horses around the arena a few times then got down. Nick helped Greg remove everything from Reese.

"Now you have to brush her again," Nick said handing Greg a brush.

Nick went to work on Star, trying not to laugh as Greg once again talked to the horse.

"Don't laugh I heard you talking to your horse" Greg said. "Would it kill you to tell her thank you for the ride?"

"OH Star, I had a blast, thanks so much for the lovely ride" Nick said.

Greg rolled his eyes. "See, he's just being rude now Reese" Greg said. "He didn't mean that, I really did"

Greg watched as Nick returned the horses to their stalls.

"Hey that was some nice riding" Jonathan said.

Nick turned towards him. "I was a bit rusty" he said.

"You looking for work, I could use a guy like you to work my horses and help around here?" Jonathan said.

Nick looked at the horses then back at Jonathan.

"I've got about 15 horses of my own and I can't ride them all!"

"Yeah, I'd love to." Nick said.

"Good, I pay 200 bucks a day; you start at 6am tomorrow." Jonathan said.

Nick turned and looked at Greg.

"Can you get up that early?" Greg asked.

Nick nodded. "Can you, you'll have to drive me here!"

Greg smiled. "As long as I have my coffee" he said taking Nick's hand.

"You had this all planned out didn't you?" Nick said softly.

Greg nodded. "Now let's go home and get cleaned up, we still have our first date" Greg said.

Nick pulled Greg close and hugged him. "Thank you so much" he said.

Greg pulled away. "You smell like a horse," he joked

"Hey so do you" Nick said as they grabbed their coats. They walked out to the car hand in hand.

Greg and Nick made their way inside. The cold air only reminded Nick that he still wasn't feeling well.

"So are you still up for our date?" Greg asked as they both removed the layer of coats and sweatshirts they had on. Nick sat down on the couch and seemed to space off. Greg sat next to him and waited. Nick blinked a few times and looked around the room.

"So are you still up for our date?" Greg repeated taking Nick's hand. Nick nodded almost shyly.

"Good, I'm gonna hit the showers," Greg said hopping up. He rushed off to his room. Nick leaned back on the couch and looked down at his hands. He let out a long sigh then ran his fingers through this hair.

Nick stood up and walked into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and looked inside. He pulled out a can of pop and sat down at the table. He opened it and then took the pills that sat on the table. He rubbed the side of his head a few times. His head was hurting now. He stood up and headed into the restroom. He could hear Greg in the shower.

"Hey Greg, I've got a headache so I'm stealing something for it," Nick said.

"Ok, are you sure you wanna go out?" Greg said peeking out of the shower.

"It's just a headache, I get them all the time," Nick said finding what he wanted. "I feel like a junkie taking all these pills," he joked.

"But I think they are helping, I only noticed you spacing off once today, and your hands seemed a lot better," Greg said.

Nick nodded looking down at them. Before he started on the medicine he wouldn't have been able to open any of the bottles.

Greg turned off the water and reached for a towel. He wrapped it around his hips before stepping out. He look at Nick, he seemed a bit stressed out.

"What's on your mind?" Greg asked placing his hands on Nick's shoulders. "Oh, shit you're tight," he called out.

"I'm justÃ…" Nick paused. "It's all happening so fast, a week ago I was sleeping in a trash can standing in line hoping to get a free meal. Now IÃ…"

"If it will help I can put a trash can in the living room," Greg said trying to hide his smile.

Nick smiled and shook his head. "No, thanks, your couch is fine. That is one part of my life I donÑt want to go back to." Nick said. "It's just a lot to take in, my life is changing so fast, and I just feel like I didn't do anything to earn this. It all happening because of you," he added leaning on the counter.

"You got that job because of you Nick, Jonathan told me he'd check you out but couldn't promise me that he'd hire you. Jonathan's horses mean everything to him. He's very picky about who he hires," Greg said, running his hands over Nick's shoulders and neck.

Nick looked down at the floor.

"I'm not saying that to make you feel better," Greg said working his hands harder. "And I think you've suffered long enough."

"Yeah, but why me, I'm not special, I'm no better then anyone else down there, why me?" Nick said softly.

"I asked the same thing when I won all that money," Greg said. "I felt like there are a lot of other people who needed it more then I did."

Nick looked up at him. "Hell, I still feel that way sometimes." Greg added.

"So what do you do?" Nick asked.

"I try and give back, make a donation somewhere," Greg said softly his hands never stopping.

"I don't have anything to give," Nick said.

"You don't have to have money to give back, they can use your time as well," Greg said.

"You probably think I'm being stupid," Nick said closing his eyes.

"No, I don't, I understand everything that you're going through," Greg whispered. "And now you don't have to tough it alone." He could feel Nick slowly relax beneath his touch. He on the other hand was far from relaxing.

Nick slowly opened his eyes. He swallowed softly as he looked at Greg.

"Our date," Greg said trying to hide that sound in his voice.

"I have to shower," Nick said.

Greg nodded but neither man moved.

"I should really shower," Nick repeated.

Greg removed his hands from Nick's shoulders and took a step back.

"I should get dressed," Greg said.

"Sometimes the smell of horse is hard to get off," Nick said as he pulled his shirt off. "Maybe you should make sure you got it all."

That was all Greg needed to hear.

He dropped the towel revealing his rock hard cock. Nick pulled his socks and shoes off and then his pants. Greg took a step towards him. Nick wrapped his arms around him and their lips pressed together. Greg entered his mouth tasting the soda and a bit of smoke. He turned Nick around and leaned him up against the wall. Greg pulled away needing to take a breath. He then started to kiss his neck. He placed a few kisses there and moved down to his shoulders, then his stomach. Greg moved down to Nick's cock, it was rock hard as well. Greg took him in his hand. It's tip was already wet. Greg ran his hand over it's tip a few times.

Nick gasped for air as Greg moved his hand up and down. Greg glanced up and smiled. He then took Nick in his mouth and slowly moved up and down. He ran his tongue along the back of his cock as he moved, sucking as he reached the top of it. He ran his hand up and down tightening and loosening his grip. His mouth moved on the tip, the lips forming a tight seal around the top.

Nick let out a soft groan. He was on the edge already and came hard in Greg's mouth. Greg slowly removed his mouth from Nick and stood up. He took Nick's hand and led him into the shower. He turned on the hot water. Greg was still rock hard. They both stepped in the water and Nick pulled Greg in for a deep kiss, tasting himself on him. Nick pulled away. He placed his hand on Greg then let him go, and turned around.

"Are you sure?" Greg asked.

"I'm sure," Nick said.

Greg smiled and removed the lube that was behind the shampoo. He placed some on his finger. Nick leaned forward placing both hands on the shower wall. He arched back feeling Greg place his finger on him. Greg slowly pushed his way in. Nick tightened just a bit at the feeling of Greg's fingers. It had been so long since he'd done this.

Greg waited until he relaxed and slowly moved his finger in and out. Once Greg felt he was ready he added more lube and slid in his second finger. He again moved then in and out. Once a 3rd finger was added Greg knew Nick was ready. He slowly pulled his hand out and added lube to himself. He gasped at his own touch he was so ready. He moved closer to Nick wrapping his arms around him. He placed the tip at Nick's entrance. Greg slowly pushed inside him.

Nick called out and arched back. He knew it was going to hurt. Since Greg fingers were not as long or large as the cock that had entered him. He bit his bottom lip. Greg pulled him closer and waited for Nick to adjust to the pressure of him being inside him. Greg felt Nick relax and slowly moved his hips back and forth. The pain didn't last long, Greg sensed and sped up, pushing himself in and out of Nick. He slowly slid his hand down Nick's wet chest and took his cock in his hand. He ran his hand up and down it squeezing the tip each time he reached the top.

"Oh, shit," Nick called out knowing he was so close. He arched back and again bit his bottom lip.

"Not yet," he told himself trying to fight it off.

Greg slowed down just a bit, hoping Nick wouldn't cum too fast.

Despite him slowing down he felt Nick's hot juice run all over his hand. But Greg didn't last much longer himself. He pulled out of Nick just as he came. Nick rested most of his body weight on the shower wall. He was so tired. He felt Greg's arms around him.

"I don't think I can move," Nick said, out of breath.

"Me, either," Greg said. "Let's just stay in here."

"We're running out of hot water," Nick said. Greg slowly pulled away from Nick. He turned off the water and picked up the towel that he'd used earlier. He wrapped it around Nick and started to dry him off.

"We should nap before our date," Greg said running the towel over Nick's thin body.

Nick nodded waiting for Greg to stop. Greg placed one last kiss on Nick's lips before he jumped out and grabbed himself a towel. Nick stepped out as well. He followed Greg to his room. Sleeping on the couch just didn't seem right. Greg tossed his towel on the floor and pulled the covers back. Both men climbed in bed. Greg lay on his back, Nick lay next to him.

"I don't think I've been this tired before," Greg said.

"Me, either," Nick said, barely able to keep his eyes open. Greg too tried to fight off sleep but couldn't.

Greg woke up some time later. He opened his eyes seeing Nick's head on his chest. His left hand was tangled up with Nick's. Their legs were also tangled up as well. Greg smiled and placed a kiss on Nick's forehead. He pulled him closer with his only free limb and again closed his eyes.

Nick woke up to the sound of the alarm clock going off. He tried to sit up but couldn't.

"Hey, Greg, we slept the whole night away," Nick said, trying to move him off.

"What time is it?" Greg asked.

"It's 4:30," Nick said. Now free from Greg he sat up.

"Why am I up this early?" he said, pulling the pillow over his face.

"Because I start my new job and I have to be there at 6 AM," Nick said, falling back on his pillow.

"AM, oh I thought you had to be there at 6 pm," Greg whined removing the pillow. He glanced over at Nick.

"I'm gonna take a shower. I'll come get you later," Nick said, rubbing the side of his head.

"Are you ok?" Greg asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, ever since they cut into my head I get really bad migraines," Nick said, once again sitting up. "Something about the scar tissue causes extra pressure," he added, now standing up. Nick stretched, lifting his hands over his head.

Greg smiled at the view and sat up himself. "Coffee, I need coffee," he whined, getting up.

"Go cook me breakfast," Nick said with a smile.

"Ha, ha, I don't cook," Greg said, picking up a pair of shorts off the floor. He slid them on and made his way into the living room.

"I seem to remember you cooking all kinds of things for a football game," Nick said following him.

"Oh that was my evil twin brother who goes by the same name. Me, I don't cook, not at 4:45 AM," he said, going into the kitchen. "Oh my god the coffee fairy came and started my coffee pot," Greg said. He took a deep breath. "Oh god, that's a nice smell, how did you do that?"

"I'm not telling," Nick said, walking into the restroom. His eyes widened seeing a bag with his name on it sitting on the toilet. He looked inside. He pulled out a new shirt, jacket, jeans, riding gloves, boots and a hat.

"It's your first day at work, you have to look sharp," Greg said.

"You didn't need to do this," Nick said, looking at him.

"Oh me no, I didn't do that, my twin did, he's so sneaky like that" Greg said taking a sip of coffee. "He can be a real pain in the ass."

"Oh, Greg, thanks so much," Nick said.

Greg smiled. "I know you'll pay me back," he said taking another sip of coffee.

Nick nodded and took a few pills hoping they would kill off his headache.

"Now get in the shower, mister, or you're going to be late for work," Greg said.

Nick again looked at the clothes. He turned and got in the shower. Greg walked out of the room.

"Two points for me," he thought making his way into the kitchen. He looked at the clock. Hmm, he didn't have much time to cook it was almost 5. He guessed he'd have to leave at 5:30 to get Nick to the ranch on time. "Oh, egg sandwiches," he said out loud. He got the eggs and cheese out of the fridge. He got out a pan and went to work singing loudly as he cooked.

"Thank god for coffee," he said.

Nick took a step back and looked in the mirror. Everything fit perfectly. He picked up the cowboy hat and walked out.

"Oh, wow, you are one sexy cowboy, you could have been that cowboy movie," Greg said as Nick shyly made his way into the kitchen. Greg kissed him and handed him a cup of coffee.

"So, did your twin show up and cook?" Nick asked seeing the sandwiches on the table.

"Hmm, yeah, I guess he did," Greg said.

"You better change. You can't drive me like that," Nick said picking up a sandwich.

"Oh, yeah," Greg said he went into his bedroom and put on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. He put on his shoes.

"It's kinda warming up," Greg said. "It may reach 40 today."

"It's about time," Nick said, getting more to eat. He was very hungry since they never ate any dinner.

"I guess we'll have to go on our date tonight," Greg said, picking up a sandwich. "Well, we better go, you can't be late on your first day."

They both got another sandwich and walked outside. Greg unlocked his car and they both got in.

"You're going to get sick of taking me every day," Nick said.

"Hmm, no I won't, I have to work anyways. Do you have a driver's license?" he asked.

Nick shook his head. "No, it expired and I don't think I can get it back because of my seizures," he said.

Greg nodded and turned the radio a country station.

"In honor of your new job I'm going to listen to this," Greg said "Now, don't be alarmed if I pull over and get sick a few times."

"It's not that bad," Nick said.

"Not for you, you like the crap," he said yawning.

"It'll grow on you," Nick said.

"Yeah, like mold or something," he said.

"You're kind of weird," Nick said smiling.

"Oh, you haven't seen anything yet, wait until I work a triple and I'm on no sleep and 48 cups of coffee," Greg said.

Nick made a face. "Hmm, that sounds fun."

"All part of the job, gotta get the bad guys," Greg said. He pulled in to the ranch and parked the car.

"So what are you gonna do? You're off today," Nick asked getting out of the car.

"Gonna go to the store and get some stuff. Other than that, just gonna mess around," Greg said, not really sure. "Haven't given it much thought."

"Oh, I'm glad to see you here," Jonathan said. "And Greg got you here on time as well."

Greg stuck his tongue out at him.

"Well, let's get started," Jonathan said. Nick nodded and followed Jonathan, Greg a few steps behind them.

"Greg you can hang out if you want but you know how I am when it comes to working around here," Jonathan said.

"No, I gotta do some stuff, I'll be back. What time does he get off?"

"At 4," he said. "But he gets an hour lunch break at noon."

"Cool, I'll bring lunch," Greg said. He walked over to Nick. "See you later," he said, kissing him.

Nick nodded as Greg walked away.

"Ok, I need you to come and clean the stables first thing. Water and grain then as well. Guests and clients start to show up at 9 so they have to be done by then. No exceptions. Nine you can take a break, if you want, nothing longer than 20 minutes. After that, come find me. I got a lot of horses that need work. Like I said, lunch is at noon. You get an hour. Find me at 1 and we'll go from there," he said. "You have any problems, come find me. Most of the horses are nice, but you can tie them in the walkway if you want. Just clean up after them," he said.

Nick nodded. "Not quite as glamorous as a vet," he thought, "but it's a job," and it was something he could do and do well.

*8:15*

Nick wiped the sweat off his forehead. He was in the last stall.

"Ok, now horse, it's not so nice for you to shit after I picked everything up," he said, picking up the fresh pile with a shovel and tossing it into the wheelbarrow. "Lord, now I sound like Greg," he said, shaking his head. Next he changed all the water buckets and then gave them all fresh hay and grain.

"Nick, could I see you please?" Jonathan said from the other end of the stable.

Nick made his way down to him. Jonathan was looking at the first few stalls.

"I'm sorry, I'm a bit rusty, like I said I haven't doneÃ…"

Jonathan held up his hand. "I don't think I've ever seen my stalls this clean," he said, "and you changed all the water as well. We usually just do that once a week. Man, you're fast and good," he said smiling.

"Yeah, I just, I wouldn't wanna drink the same water all week long," Nick said.

"I'll show you to the break room," Jonathan said. Nick followed him. He suddenly stopped.

"Nick," Jonathan said. "Hey Nick, are you ok, what the fuck is going on?"

Nick blinked a few times and looked around.

"Hey, man, you ok?" Jonathan said.

"Yeah, it was a seizure," Nick said.

"Oh, Greg told me about them. You do that a lot?"

"It's getting better. I'm on medication for it," he said as they both started walking again.

"Well, this is the break room. Pick a locker so you can put your stuff in it. I'd get a lock," Jonathan said, making a face. "Good help is hard to find."

"That's Tom over there and that's Billy. Say hi to Nick."

Both men tipped their hats at him.

Tom stood up. "You ready, babe?" he said. Billy got up and nodded. Both men walked out holding hands.

Nick looked up.

"Yeah, most of my staff and clients are gay," Jonathan said.

"Tom's my brother, Billy's my brother-in-law. You know most anything goes around here, kissing, holding hands, just remember to be respectful to others. But, I don't want to see anyone fucking in my barn. You will be fired on the spot or kicked out."

Nick nodded.

"So sit and relax, meet me at the indoor arena at 9," Jonathan said walking out.

Nick sat down. He leaned back in his chair. He made his way to the arena at 9 o'clock.

"This is Midnight," Jonathan said. "This stupid little horse pisses me off, she's lazy, and I don't have time to deal with her," Jonathan said. "It doesn't matter how many times I kick her or whip her she slows down. I'm hoping if she gets ridden everyday and worked hard she'll learn."

Nick nodded.

"Just go with your gut, don't overwork her or burn her out," Jonathan said handing Nick the reins.

"I'll be back at about 10:30. Have her cooled down and unsaddled."

Nick again nodded, then mounted the horse. Tom was working a horse in the arena as well.

"Alright little lady, show me what you got," Nick said, tapping her with his boot. She tossed her head back.

"That's gotta stop, too," Tom called out. "But Jonathan won't use a tie on her, thinks they are mean."

"I gotta idea," Nick said. "I just need a few glass bottles with some warm water."

"Jonathan won't like you hurting her," Tom said now stopping his horse. He watched Nick as he trotted her around the arena. Just like Jonathan said, she slowed down to a walk.

"Oh no, it won't hurt her," Nick said, kicking her now and making her run. He guided her around the arena. Each time she went to slow down he'd give her a hard kick and make her run all out.

*10:05*

Tom noticed Jonathan and rode over to him.

"Shit, brother where did you find him, he's really good," he said.

"He's Greg's new boyfriend," Jonathan said.

"He wants some glass bottles with warm water, says he can stop Night from tossing her head."

"Hmm, I'll get them and see what he's got in mind," Jonathan said, walking away. He returned with a few glass bottles.

"Nick, bring her over here," Jonathan said.

Nick rode her over to the two men. As he slowed her down, she tossed her head back.

"Stupid little horse, I'm gonna sell you in a week if you don't shape up and someone will beat the shit out of you and use a fucking tie on you," Jonathan said.

"I have an idea," Nick said seeing the bottles. Jonathan handed them to him.

"You better not hurt her," he said.

"I won't," Nick said holding the bottle over her head. He gave her a soft kick. She tossed her head back and the bottle broke. The warm water ran over her head. She stopped feeling it running over her head and then started to run.

"She thinks it's her own blood," Nick said stopping her. She again tossed her head back but Nick had the next bottle in place. She reacted the same way running forward. Nick pulled back on the reins and she came to a stop without tossing her head back.

"Well, I'll be damned," Jonathan said. "Ok, cool her off and take a break," he said looking at his brother.

Nick ran her a few more times. Each time she came to a stop he had the bottle waiting but she did not toss her head back. Nick smiled and started to cool her off. He unsaddled her and led her back to her stall.

He headed down to the break room. He placed his hands in his pockets and felt something. He pulled out a few dollars and a note.

"Don't blame me, my evil twin that money in there, not me," Nick smiled and walked over to the pop machine. He placed a dollar in and pushed the Coke button. A can rolled down. He picked it up. His hands were shaking more than they had in the last few days. He sat down at a table. Tom and Billy walked over to the table and sat down.

"I'm Billy," he said shaking his hand.

"Nick," he said, then shook Tom's hand.

Tom glanced at his hands as Nick opened the can.

"Welcome," Tom said. "Nice to finally get some good help around here."

"Thanks," Nick said taking a sip of pop.

Greg pounded on the door harder.

"I know you're in there, open up," he yelled. At first, he was going to go shopping. He knew Nick would need more than one set of clothes to work in. But the more he thought about what Sara had tried to do the angrier he got. He had to talk to her right now.

"Sara, open the fucking door," he yelled, pounding on it so hard his fist was starting to hurt.

The door finally opened. Sara was in her nightgown. She covered her face trying to block the sun from her eyes. "Greg," she said, still half asleep. "What are you doing here?"

"I want to talk to you," he said, pushing his way inside.

"You're mad at me aren't you?" she said shutting the door. She followed him into her living room. She sat down on the couch and yawned. "I hope you know, that I pulled a double and I just went to bed about an hour ago," she said, rubbing her facing trying to wake herself up.

Greg glared at her. "What the fuck where you trying to pull?" He almost yelled.

"Trying, dammit, he didn't get on the bus," she said, sound very disappointed.

"No, he didn't," Greg yelled.

"I should have made sure he got on the bus. So what did he spend the money on. He got drugs, didn't he?" Sara asked sounding very hopeful. "Did he get drunk?"

"Why, is that what you wanted to happen? Were you hoping he'd go back to his old ways. Well he did Sara," Greg said.

Sara smiled and leaned forward.

"He got a pack of cigarettes," Greg said.

"Is that it?" she asked.

"No, he got a ticket for a friend of his, then he called me," Greg said. "Sara, how could you, you were my best friend."

"Were," she said.

"Yes, were. I don't get it. I know you said you were in love with me but why would you do this?" he asked, pacing back and forth.

"Greg, I just want to make sure you're going to be happy and safe," she said.

"I am happy, I've never been happier," he said.

"You've only known him a few weeks," she said.

"I know but I'm still getting to know him," he said.

"Greg, why can't you see the truth?" Sara said.

"Why can't you?" he yelled.

Sara looked away from him.

"When I woke up alone and he was gone, it was something I've felt before. It was like someone punched me in the stomach. And then to find out it was because of youÃ…" he said.

"Greg, your just setting yourself up to get hurt. Why can't you see that?" she said. "God, will you please stand still? You're making me dizzy."

"No, you're wrong Sara, he's not going to hurt me. You know it's funny but that day I came home and the 40 bucks were missing, I knew it wasn't him, because I trust him."

"Greg, you're being silly," she said. "He doesn't even have a job, do you really believe that story he told you."

"Yeah, I do," Greg said. "And he does have a job, he works at The Saddle Ranch." He was still pacing back and forth.

"Oh, please, when did he get a job?" she said, grabbing his arm.

"Don't touch me," Greg said, pulling his arm away.

"Greg, relax, sit down and I'm sure we can work this out," she said.

"Work what out? I'm not the one with the problem," he said, pacing faster now.

"I'm sure everyone at work will see this like I do," she said.

"Warrick likes him," Greg said.

"I think he was just trying to be nice. Greg, wake up honey, this guy is going to take you for everything you have, he's going to break your heart and lose your trust."

"Yeah, well, I'm used to that," he said.

"Used to what?" she asked.

"People breaking my trust," he said, stopping in front of her.

"What are you talking about?" she asked.

"What the fuck do you think? You broke in to my house and stole money from me, hoping I would think it was Nick," Greg almost yelled.

"Greg, calm down, you're going to piss off my neighbors," she said.

"You of all people, Sara, I trusted you more than anyone and you go and do something like that. I mean weÑve been through so much together, the lab, me becoming a CSI, the money. Then I find someone that could make me happy the rest of my life and you try to ruin it. Why wouldnÑt you want me to be happy?" he asked, his voice much softer now.

Sara again looked away. "Greg, do you think it's easy for me to watch you talk about him, to be with him, when I'm in love with you."

"You've got a weird way of showing it," Greg said.

"You're gay, I never had a chance," she said.

"Oh, please, you had plenty of chances, I was into you a long time ago," Greg said.

Sara looked at him. "What?" she said.

"Back when I was nothing more then a lab rat to you. I used to flirt with you, I even asked you to lunch a few times. Once you said yes and I waited in the break room for over an hour. You never showed up. You went out with Gil instead," Greg said, now sitting down in a chair across from her.

"I remember," she said.

"Yeah, then the lab blew up and we both got hurt."

"You got hurt, I just had a cut on my hand. It was nothing like what happened to you," she said.

"You stayed with me most of the time, even took some time off work," he said. "There was one time, I heard you talking with Warrick, you must have thought I was asleep."

Sara eyes widened.

"He asked why you were wasting all your time off on some stupid lab rat," Greg said.

"Oh, Greg you weren't supposed to hear that," she said, placing her hand over her mouth.

"You said I feel sorry for the little dork, he's got no friends and his parents are so poor they can't even get down here to see their only son. I mean what kind of parents would do that. He'd be here all by his self. HeÑs such a loser IÑm afraid heÑll do something stupid," Greg said.

"He's got a crush on you, Warrick said. You said, Yeah, can you believe he even asked me out for lunch? I even said yeah but I never showed, I went out with Gil. Cath said he looked like such a loser waiting for me. God, how desperate do you think I am?"

"Greg, I didn't mean it," she said.

"Yeah, you did. But you know you were right, I didn't have any other friends, and my parents couldn't get down here to see me, they where still trying to pay off my school loans. So I didn't move. I just laid there acting like I was asleep. After that, I didn't have that feeling for you anymore. It was gone," he said.

"Greg, I'm so sorry."

"It's ok, I got over that a lot time ago and to tell you the truth I forgot about it really. I mean you did turn into my best friend after all that," he added, standing up again. "But this time it's different, I don't think I can forget this."

"Greg why can't you see..."

"Look Sara, I know you think you had good reason for what you did but I swear to god, if you ever pull anything like that again... Well, you're a woman and I don't believe in hitting a woman. But you know if you did do something like that again you would be more of a rat. And I could hurt a rat," Greg said with a look of anger and hate in his eyes that sent a chill down Sara.

She swallowed hard and looked away. "You'd give up our friendship over some homeless loser?" Sara said.

"No, you already made that choice for me," Greg said. "And his name is Nick," Greg said, walking away.

Sara watched him as he walked out of the room. She jumped when she heard the door slam. She put her hand over her face and started crying. She stood up and walked over to the window. She wiped a tear from her check and watched Greg drive off. She turned and walked back into her room. She lay down on the bed and curled up. She closed her eyes.

Greg turned up the radio as loud as he could. He sang along with the song. He pulled into the mall's parking lot. He parked the car and got out. He took a few deep breaths and walked inside.

"Can I help you?"

"Yeah, my boyfriend got a new job and he needs new clothes," Greg said.

The older man nodded. "What does he do?"

"No, he needs new everything, work, dress and play clothes and so do I," Greg said.

The older man smiled. "Follow me, sir," he said. Greg followed the man back into the store.

Greg glanced at his watch it was 10:45.

"You've been very helpful," Greg said tipping the man.

"You need anything else you come and find me sir," he said.

"I will," Greg said. He turned and looked at all the boxes of clothes he'd gotten. Most were for Nick and he wondered how he would react to all the clothes. Greg had to make three trips to get everything out to his car.

"Oh, man, that's the last time I'm gonna shop when I'm pissed off," Greg said to himself. He got into his car and stopped to get some sub-sandwiches and chips. He made his way back to the ranch, getting there about 10 minutes before noon. He parked the car and got the bags of food and made his way to the break room.

"Oh Greg, I love you man," Jonathan called out. "Nick is a gift from God. He's so good, I owe you big time."

"No, you don't, I'm just as grateful as you are," Greg said. "Where's Nick at?"

"He's working a stupid little stallion of mine. He's worthless, I'm gonna sell him if Nick can't get him into shape. I'll take the food to the break room," Jonathan said.

Greg handed him the food and headed to the arena. His eyes widened seeing Nick on a black and white horse. It was rearing up.

"My god, he's had him up there for 15 minutes,"Tom said.

Billy just nodded not taking his eyes off Nick.

Greg walked over to the other man. They both nodded. Greg looked at Nick.

He was covered in sweat. His arms where shaking. But he would not let the horse go down. If he leaned back Nick would push all his weight forward, keeping the horse from falling over on top of him. It he tried to go down Nick pushed all his weight back pulling the horse up even higher, keeping him reared up on two legs.

Nick could feel the horse's body shaking under him. He knew the horse couldn't keep this up much longer. Nick wasn't sure he could keep him up any longer either so he let the horse down on all four feet. The horse snorted a few times then reared up again. Nick did the same balancing act with him again. The tired horse did it's best to fall over but couldn't. Nick's arms burned as he kept the huge animal up in the air. He again let the horse down. It snorted again but this time lowered his head to the dirt.

Nick kicked his side and the stallion took off. Nick guided him around the arena a few times but brought him to a stop near the three men.

He smiled seeing Greg.

"Wow, Nick that was amazing," Tom said taking the reins from his shaking hands.

"I've heard of people doing that shit, but I've never seen it," Bill said.

"Go and eat lunch, I'll cool him down and put him away," Bill said as Nick lowered himself off the tired horse. He patted the horse a few times.

"Thanks," he said, wiping the sweat off his forehead.

"You earned it," he said, leading the horse away.

"Holy shit, that was crazy," Greg said, taking Nick's shaking hand.

"Yeah, we'll just have to see if he rears up on me tomorrow," Nick said trying to catch his breath. "So, what did you do today?"

"Hmm, I talked to Sara, and got really pissed off and I went to the store and got us both a bunch of new clothes. But you know I didn't mean to get so much stuff, it just kinda happened. I know you don't like me getting you stuff but you can't wear that everyday and it was on sale. Ok, no it wasn't, but you know it looked nice," Nick placed his hand on Greg lips.

"Shh," he said and pulled him close and kissed him. "That's better," Nick said. Greg nodded and took his hand.

"You know, you're shaking." Greg said.

"Yeah, I kept him up there too long. My arms are going to hurt me tomorrow,"" he said.

"I got some sandwiches and chips," Greg said.

"Good, I'm starving," Nick said. He took a few steps and then stopped. He took a step back.

"Nick, are you ok?" Greg asked. Nick didn't answer. Greg watched him and waited.

"Nick," Greg said again. Nick's eyes seemed to roll back and he fell to the ground.

"Oh, shit," Greg yelled moving next to him. Nick's whole body seemed to go into convulsions.

Greg pulled out his cell phone. "Shit," he said moving it around. "Oh shit, come on," he yelled.

"Roll him on his side," Tom yelled. Greg did this with Tom's help.

"What's happening?" Greg said.

"He's having a seizure," Tom said.

"No, he doesn't have them like this," Greg said. "He has the spacing off kind."

"He's never done this before?" Tom asked.

Greg shook his head. "No, never," Greg said.

"Time it and I'm going to call 911," Tom said running off.

"Oh, shit," Greg said, watching Nick's body shake. Nick's body finally stopped. Greg checked his pulse.

"Nick, wake up," Greg said shaking him.

"When did it stop?" Tom asked.

"It was like five minutes, I think," Greg said. "Why won't he wake up?"

"He will, just relax. Help is on the way," Tom said as they were joined by Jonathan.

Nick's body tensed up again and started to shake.

"Oh, god, what's happening?" Greg yelled as Tom moved Nick on his side again.

"Nick," Greg yelled.

Nick slowly opened his eyes.

"Nick," Greg said, moving close to him.

"Oh, shit," Nick called out, placing his hand on his head. He placed his other hand over his eyes. Jonathan moved, trying to block the sun.

"Is that better?" he asked.

"Yeah, what happened?" Nick asked.

"You had a Grand-Mal seizure," Tom said. "We called 911. Greg said that's not normal for you."

"I've had one before," Nick said. "But it was before they removed my tumor."

Greg took Nick's hand and closed his eyes.

Nick tried to sit up.

"Just lay still, Nick," Jonathan said. "You should wait until the paramedics get here."

Nick lay down. He closed his eyes hearing the sirens getting closer. Jonathan waved down the truck.

"He had 2 five minute seizures," Greg said as the 2 men walked over to them.

"Sir, how do you feel?" one asked.

"Like I got thrown off a horse," Nick said, once again trying to sit up.

"Lay still sir, we wanna check you out. Has this happened before?"

"Yeah, about 3 years ago. I had a tumor. I haven't had one since they removed it," Nick said, watching as the medic moved all around him, checking to make sure he was okay.

"He has Petty-Mal seizures," now Greg said.

"And you are?"

"Oh, I'm his boyfriend," Greg said.

"Well, Nick, we better take you in and let the doctor get a look at you. Make sure there isn't another tumor causing you to have seizures."

Greg and one of the medics helped Nick to his feet.

"Any pain when you walk?"

"No, I just feel really tight," Nick said once they reached the truck. They helped Nick get in. He laid down on the stretcher.

"You can ride with him."

"Thanks," Greg said getting in the back. He again took Nick's hand.

"You look like crap," Nick said.

"You scared the shit out of me. I didn't know what was going on, thank god Tom was there," Greg said holding his hand tighter.

Neither man spoke the rest of the way. Both feared the worst as they pulled up to the hospital. Greg got out and watched as the medic pulled the stretcher off the back rig. They pushed Nick inside and were met by a few doctors.

"Oh, no, I want someone else," Greg almost shouted.

"Oh, you, again" Dr. Green said. "Take him to trauma 2."

"I said no, we want someone else," Greg said, stepping in front of Nick's stretcher.

"Sir, we don't have time for this," Dr. Green said.

"I want to see someone else," Nick said looking at Greg.

"Is there a problem?"

Nick and Greg turned seeing a women doctor standing in front of them.

"Yeah, I don't want this doctor working on him, he was rude to us," Greg said. "He treated Nick badly because he was homeless," Greg said.

"That is not true," Dr. Green said.

"I want someone else," Nick said.

"I'll take you, I'm Dr. Jones," she said. "Trauma room 3" she said, following them in there.

"Sir, you'll have to wait outside while we run some tests," she said.

Greg nodded walking out of his room.

"Doctor, he's seizing again," a nurse called out.

Greg stopped and turned. The doors closed and Greg walked up to them. He watched as a few nurses ran around Nick. They lifted him oft the stretcher and put him on the bed. Greg took a few steps back but did not take his eyes off the window, not taking his eyes off Nick. He finally looked away once the curtain had been closed and he could no longer see in the room. He made his way to the waiting room and took a seat. He put his hands on his face and let out a long sigh.

"Greg," Jonathan called out.

"Oh, thank god," Greg said as Jonathan, Tom, and Bill joined him.

"What's going on?" Tom asked.

"I don't know, he's having another one. God I hope it's not another tumor," Greg said as the three men sat down next to him. "They won't let me in there."

Jonathan nodded.

Greg looked down at the floor. He could hear Jonathan, Bill, and Tom talking but wasn't listening to them. He was zoned out.

"Greg Sanders?" he heard. He looked up.

"We think we've gotten the seizures to stop for now," Dr. Jones said.

"Is he ok?" Greg asked standing up.

"He's got a headache and is pretty stiff but other than that he's seems ok. I see he was here a few weeks ago."

"Hey, Dr. Green sent him home too soon, he was still very sick," Greg said.

She nodded. "I am sorry about that, we don't have much of a budget for the homeless."

"I told him I'd be paying for everything, and I will be for today as well," Greg said being joined by the others.

She again only nodded. "Well, we got a cat scan done and are waiting for the results. You can go back and see him if you want. The rest of you will have to wait until he's in a room of his own."

Jonathan nodded. Tom started to say something but was given a quick look from his brother. The 3 of them made there way back into the waiting room.

"Yeah, I would," Greg said

She led Greg back to where Nick was. He had his eyes closed. He looked very pale.

"The seizures took a lot out of him," Dr. Jones said.

Nick opened his eyes and smiled. Greg walked over and took his hand. He pulled a chair up to the bed and sat down.

"So what have they told you?" Nick asked.

"Not much, they did a cat scan and they will let us know."

"Us, no, you is more like it," Nick said. "They are barely talking to me, I must have a sign on my head that's says I'm a broke homeless loser. It‘s like I‘m not even here."

Greg pulled Nick's hand up to his mouth and kissed it.

"I'll be right back," Greg said.

"Greg, man, don't, it's ok, really," Nick pleaded.

"No, it's not, they shouldn't treat you like that."

"I don't wanna cause any trouble you know," Nick said. "Please just sit down with me."

Greg looked at Nick and walked over to him. He sat down and took his hand once again.

"Thank you," Nick said softly.

"I wonder how long it's going to take," Greg said.

"Why, you got plans?" Nick asked.

"Well, I'm kinda seeing this really cute cowboy and we've been trying to have a first date but something keeps happening."

"Sounds like he's nothing but trouble," Nick said. "Not worth the wait."

"Oh no, he's worth the wait, I can feel it," Greg said. smiling.

Nick smiled and looked down shyly. Greg leaned forward and kissed him softly on his lips.

"Oh god, I'm sorry."

Greg pulled away and Nick looked down blushing a bit.

"I have the results of you cat scan," Dr. Jones said.

Nick again took Greg's hand. Both men held their breath.

"Well, I have good news and bad news. What would you like first?"

"The bad news," Nick said.

"Okay, well I believe the scar tissue is what is causing you to have the seizures. I was shocked when I looked at this. I can't believe there is that much tissue in there. I looked at your original scan and I see no reason for this. I can't believe someone did this to you," she said. "Anyway, I want to start you a medication to see if it will cause it to shrink. If notw we may have to look into surgery again."

"What's the good news?" Nick asked.

"I don't see anything that looks like a tumor so I'm ruling that out."

"Oh, thank god," Nick said. Greg let his breath out as she said that.

"I'm going to increase your Depakote 500 mg a dose and I want to start you on something called Lamicatial 100 mg 3 times a day," she said. "And we will go from there. I see no reason why you can't go home," she said.

"So, what do I do it he has another seizure?" Greg asked.

"Lay him on his side. Make sure there is nothing near him that he could hit. If he's got a tie on or a tight shirt, loosen it up. Don't put anything in his mouth and don't try to hold him down."

Greg nodded. "Should I call 911?" he asked.

"It's up to you, if he has them back to back, or if it goes longer than 10 minutes you should call, but for anything less than that I wouldn't. This could become part of his… your, everyday life," she started to Greg but turned to face Nick.

Nick swallowed hard and nodded.

"I'll get this filled for you before you leave. Do you have any other questions?" she asked, standing up.

Nick looked at Greg. They both shook their heads.

"Ok, I will be right back with your discharge papers and your medications," she said, walking out of the room.

Nick placed a shaky hand on his head.

"Does your head hurt?" Greg asked.

"My everything hurts," Nick said sitting up.

Greg stood up and helped Nick get up and get dressed. They both sat on the bed and waited for Dr. Jones to return.
