Notes: This all started because, as I watched the show last night, I wondered how H got to the club so quickly.

----------------------

I'm holding him as close to me as possible. Even after two showers he smells like smoke. I insisted that he get checked over at the hospital. His lungs were clear and his airways were unharmed. He's finally drifted off to sleep. I've got all I need to prove he's alright right here in my arms. So why am I still shaking like a leaf? Because this could have really been it. He could have died in that club.

It was the boss thing that kept me from joining them. I know it's silly. They invited me. Eric had the specific aim of not going home alone. That would leave Speed as a third wheel.

"Come on man. I want to see you in club clothes moving that skinny white butt of yours." he said with an edible look. He had his hand on my leg as I drove him home. His car was in the shop.

"Baby, I can't. I don't think I could keep my hands off of you all night." No one knows about us and we like it that way.

He grinned at me "My point exactly. These clubs are so dark, your own mother could feel you up and no one would be the wiser."

A shot of jealousy and possessiveness ran through me like fast moving water. He is handsome and sexy. He is bisexual like I am. He'll be in a hot dark sexually charged atmosphere with lots of beautiful women and horny men. Am I totally insane? Think Caine think...

"How are you getting home? Delko might not be available if he gets lucky. Which he will."

"I can cab it home, Dad." he smirked.

"Why don't I pick you up? We can go back to my place." Holy shit that sounded so insecure.

He apparently likes me that way. He chuckled "It's Ok H. I'll be good." He squeezed my knee as I pulled up to his place. We looked up and down the street for a second. We stole a quick kiss. As he got out I asked "What time should I be there?" He leaned into the open window "I don't usually last too long. About 2? Is that too late for you?"

"No it's not too late for me, young'un. See you later. Have a good time." As I pulled away from the curb, He shouted "I know you don't really mean that!!"

I was waiting outside around the corner listening to the radio. My phone rang. I was hoping it wasn't a call to come in. We were off but sometimes that doesn't mean anything to the powers that be.

"Yeah." I said in my make it quick voice.

"H. It's me." It was Speed. He sounded panicked. Scared. I heard screaming and total chaos in the background.

"Speed?" I turned over the engine and hit the gas.

"I'm in trouble. The club is on fire. I need you, man. We've got to get these people out of here!" he shouted into the phone.

"I'm coming Speed. Get out of there!!" I've seen the wholesale panic of a large crowd in a fire situation. If the smoke doesn't get you, the trampling feet of the other people will.

"Hurry.." he yelled and the line went dead.

I pulled up to see people running out and being dragged out. Against everything I knew to do, I ran in and started helping people out of the door. I was really looking for one face in the madness. I found him near the exit. His clothes were blackened by the smoke and he was breathing heavy. I've never been so terrified. I heard the walls cracking and breaking apart. I grabbed Speed and made for the door.

"This place is going up. We've got to get out!!"

Once we were outside, I realized I hadn't seen Eric.

"Where's Eric? Do you know where Eric is?" Speed was coughing and sputtering as he pointed to the other door. Eric was pulling people out with another man. As long as I knew where Speed and Eric are I was fine. Scared shitless but fine.

He's hugging me back now. "H, I'm good. Really." he mumbled into my chest. I think my tension woke him up. He picks up his head and looks me in the eye. I can see that he's right here with me. I run my hands through his hair. The last few hours have been hell. I'm really glad I hurried.
