Challenge: 100 Drabbles – Horatio Caine/Timothy SpeedleIt wasn’t fair. Horatio stared at the grave where his lover lay. He had fought so hard to get out of the darkness and live his life. And cancer took him not even three years later.
He watched his lover fight until the end. He would never forget the look in Speed’s eyes before he closed them forever. They held no fear, only sadness and regret at leaving Horatio behind.
They had been apart a month, a month too long. Their friends had not left him alone; afraid of what he would do if they did. Horatio sat down and leaned against the tombstone.
A gunshot echoed through the still cemetery.
