"Gil?..."

Nick pushed open the glass door of the office and stopped, a slow smile curling his lips.

After three straight shifts, working two apparently connected now seemingly disparate cases, Gil's body had got the better of his mind. He was asleep in his chair - glasses half-way down his nose, mouth open, head dropped back at an angle that was going to leave him with a painful crick when he woke.

He was snoring softly, the sound almost lost in the constant background noise of the lab.

Nick pushed the door to behind him and stepped into the chaos of the office, being careful where he trod. Reaching across the desk, he silently peeled a Post It note from the pad next to Gil's laptop and pressed it to the cover of the file he was carrying.

Picking up the expensive silver fountain pen from the A4 pad covered in notes and doodles, he wrote fluid words on the yellow paper.

Then he placed the file on top of the others, just where it would catch Gil's eyes when he opened them, and putting the lid back on the pen with a quiet click he padded out of the office.

Gil woke with a start.

Cursing his human state, he sat up and immediately regretted the sudden movement when his neck screamed in protest. Flinching, he rubbed at the stiffened muscles, the heat of his hand soon loosening them up. As he did he glanced at the scrawled Post It on top of the pile of folders on his desk.

He smiled as he read it and reached across to peel it from the brown cover.

'Rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty. Your prince dropped by. Find enclosed the glass slipper.'

Flipping open the cover of the file, Gil read the top sheet and grabbed it up in its entirety, launching himself from the chair.

He owed his prince a thousand kisses.
