Title: Lauderdale
By: 10th-letter
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG13
Summary: A 21 year old Nick Stokes is on vacation in Ft.Lauderale, FL with his frat brothers. Forced onto a gay beach, he meets a man that would change his life. The summary is much more dramatic than the actual story.

A/N: This was all inspired by this exchange between Nick and Catherine in episode 315 “Lady Heather’s Box”.

Nick and Catherine are investigating a mostly liquefied body found underneath his barbell.

Nick: Well, it's gonna take a while for us to get this smell out of our nose hairs.
Cath: Parchment changes on the skin. What's the exposure on that window, south?
Nick: Uh, East. Direct sunlight. Found that down in Lauderdale. You gotta remember to turn.
Cath: Right, all that Spring Break activity with your frat brothers.
Nick: *quiet* Something like that. *bends down to investigate the body*

Fort Lauderdale has a huge gay following. Not exclusively gay, but it’s very gay-friendly. I was inspired.

A twenty-one year old Nick Stokes glared at his frat brothers. “I still don’t understand why you’re makin’ me do this guys.” He complained.

“Because you need this, Tex. All of us have been getting tail nonstop since we got down here. You shouldn’t be missing out just because you’re gay. Now get your well-toned southern ass onto that beach!” shouted Nick’s frat brother, Mike, shoving Nick out of their rental car and onto the hot pavement outside the boundaries of the beach. Nick nervously wrapped his towel around his waist and looked at the entry post to one of Fort Lauderdale’s most well-known gay beaches.

“Pompano Beach. That doesn’t sound too bad. Maybe I can do this.” Said Nick, mostly to himself. He didn’t realize Mike was still standing behind him.

“Damn straight you can. So to speak. Now get in there, I’ll bet you’ll have guys crawling all over you. Assuming you’re into that kinda stuff.” Stammered Mike, nervously adjusting his sunglasses. “I mean, not that you’re into sick stuff just ‘cause you’re gay or anything. I just mean that –“

“Mike, It’s ok. I’m going to go in. You can leave if you want. I’m a big boy, I can handle this.” Said Nick, smiling.

Mike’s shoulders slumped. “Oh thank you! It’s not that I don’t approve of your lifestyle or anything, it’s just-“

“Mike, there’s a couple of really hot girls at the bar over there, they’ve been eyeing you since we pulled up. Go, have fun.” Said Nick.

Mike smirked nervously and walked off, leaving Nick alone.

Nick sighed and stepped foot onto the warm sand of Pompano Beach. Nothing happened. The world didn’t end, Nazis weren’t riding dinosaurs just because he was gay. Maybe he really could be out and comfortable. Maybe things would be alright.

“Excuse me honey, I need to get through.” Came a voice right behind Nick. Nick turned to see a fairly hairy, overweight man wearing nothing but a very small black speedo.

“Oh, sorry.” Muttered Nick, trying desperately not to make eye contact.

“Mm, a six pack and a sexy accent! You’ll do fine in here, hon.” Said the man before walking away.

What have I gotten myself into? This is too much at once. I should just leave and meet Mike at the bar. I’m sure one of those bimbos at the bar would have me. Nick thought, turning around to leave.

“And where do you think you’re going?” came a voice from behind Nick. Nick turned around to look at who was talking to him and was momentarily stunned. He was eye to eye with a shaggy haired, thin young man wearing a pair of dark blue swim trunks and a Marilyn Manson T-shirt with the sleeves cut off, revealing decently toned arms. “Hello? Earth to hot guy with accent?”

Nick shook the cobwebs loose from his head and tried not to get lose in the young man’s brown eyes. “Oh, um, sorry. I’m Nick, nice to meet you.” Said Nick, extending his hand.

The young man shook Nicks hand and smiled, “I’m Greg. You can relax, you know. They’re pretty accepting here. Heck, there’s even a playground a few feet away for kids.”

“Kids, but how can gay people have kids? I mean you need-“ started Nick.

Greg smiled. “There are other ways, Nick. C’mon, mind if I show you around?”

“Sure.” Nick breathed.

~~~
Nick laid out his towel next to Greg’s. “So you’re from California? What’re you doing all the way out in Florida?”
“I’m on a vacation from school. I’m in the advanced Chem program at Stanford. I kinda needed some time off from all the science, you know?” said Greg, leaning back. Nick was trying not be obvious in staring at Greg’s lean torso.
“I- um I hear ya, man. I’m a Criminal Justice major back home in Texas and sometimes some of the theory just gets to me, you know?” Nick leaned back, rubbing some suntan lotion on his shoulders.
“Need some help getting the spots on your back?” asked Greg.
“That was one of the most obvious pick-up lines I’ve ever heard.” Laughed Nick. “But yeah, if you don’t mind.” Nick tossed Greg the bottle of suntan lotion and laid down on the towel.
Greg squirted some lotion onto his hands and started to slowly massage it into Nick’s broad shoulders. Greg was going to milk this opportunity as much as he could so he took full advantage of the fact that Nick’s bathing suit was untied. Greg massaged a small circle into the small of Nick’s back, eliciting a moan from the Texan.
“Man, you have magic fingers.” Moaned Nick.
Greg leaned forward, his mouth inches away from Nick’s ear. “Wait ‘til you see what I can do with my tongue.”
Nick smirked, “Mind if I take ya out to dinner first?” Maybe being gay isn’t all that bad. thought Nick.
A/N 2: The Nazi's riding dinosaurs bit is a reference to the Drawn Together episode called "Foxxy vs. the Board of Education". I highly reccommend the show. It's one of my favorites.
