Gil Grissom has never been good at letting go. He never throws out a book or a pair of jeans, he struggles at saying goodbye, and as much as he doesn't like to admit it, he does hold grudges. Those who accuse him of being cold rarely realize the exact depths of just how long he hangs onto past hurts. That's why he has the bulletin board and the ones that got away; he keeps them, in some small way, for always.

And, since he can't admit that he'll have to, some day, let go, he doesn't. Instead, he wraps his arms more tightly around Greg's waist and, even though he knows that they both have to get up for work in ten minutes and continue on with their lives outside these closed doors, he does what he can and holds on.
