Parents are supposed to nurture, love, and care for their children. They aren’t supposed to beat them, hurt them, or throw them away.

Each case involving abused kids took its toll on all of them, but Speed had seen them almost destroy his lover. He promises them he will protect and save them, he kills himself to make the promise come true.

The native New Yorker had never had a good relationship with his own parents, but it was nothing compared to Horatio’s history with his. It’s not just a case, it’s personal for the redhead.

And after each case Speed takes him home. Where he nurtures, loves, and cares for the man he gave his heart to, so he can go out the next day and save them all again.
