Title: Making It Official

Summary: Catherine asks Wendy if she wants to make it 'official'.
Spoilers: Sequel to 'Dreams and Nightmares'.

Catherine and Wendy have been seeing each on a semi-regular basis since the hostage situation at Lindsey's high school took place. Oh it was nothing really too serious; lunches together during shifts, movie nights at each other's homes that included Lindsey, using the mall gift certificates they got one another for Christmas, where the two would talk about their favorite things and get to know each other better as Wendy wrote in her note she gave to Catherine during the hostage situation.

Catherine however, was wondering if she and Wendy should make their budding relationship a more serious and lasting one; "What's on your mind mom?" asked Lindsey from her seat at the breakfast table.

"How do you know I have something on my mind?"

"First of all, you get a far away, determined look in your eyes and Second, you haven't touched your scrambled eggs for the past five minutes...so I figured you were thinking about something," Lindsey explains nonchalantly.

"I guess I have been thinking about something...I just don't know what to do about it."

"Well you know mom you could always tell me, besides you're the one that always tells me that if I have a problem that needs a solution to talk it over with you so that we can think of solution together."

"You know that sounds like a great idea."

"So what's your problem mom?"

"Well you know Wendy and I have been seeing alot of each other?"

"Mom, the only people that don't know are the astronauts on the space station."

"If you're going to make fun of me, then forget it." Catherine says angry at her daughter's humor.

"I'm sorry...I promise no more jokes...now what is your problem with Wendy, she has always been nice to me even including me on movie nights at her place?"

"Well honey the thing is that I like her alot and I know she likes me alot too...but..."

"But you don't want to make the same mistake you did with Riley, falling in love so quickly and having your heart broken again...how am I doing so far?"

"You're hitting the nail right on the head."

"So you want to tell Wendy you want to be her girlfriend and hope she will feel the same, but not to the point where the two of you are acting like the kids in my school; playing kissy face and wanting to get into each other's pants 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

"LINDSEY MARIE WILLOWS...where did you get the idea of such things..." Catherine yells at her daughter shocked at what she was saying.

"I told you mom, even adults act like teens when it comes to sex."

"We do that...don't we...so what do you think I should do?"

"I'd ask her to dinner, to a nice place...semi fancy, a place that you either wear a dress or nice pair of dress slacks...no jeans or shorts, talk it over with her and see what happens."

"Thanks honey, i'll do that...I do have Friday off and so does she so I'll call and make reservations for two at Luigi's Trattoria at seven o'clock...how does that sound?"

"Fantastic."

The lab wasn't very busy the rest of the week, it seemed like crime took a holiday or something and it was finally Friday.

"Now don't forget I'll see you tomorrow night at Luigi's Trattoria around seven." Catherine reminded Wendy nervously.

"I'll be there with on time Catherine, not to worry...say hi to Lindsey for me..." Wendy says as she get up walks over to Catherine, kisses her on the cheek and whispers, "See you then Cath."

Catherine was just getting out of her car at the restaurant when she heard a familiar voice, "Catherine...hey Cath, you just get here too." Wendy says as she walks up to Catherine.

"Hey Wen..." Catherine was dumb struck as she saw Wendy wearing a tea length maroon dress with a little slit up the side, matching sandles and jewelry, and her hair done up with tassles of hair framing her face, "Wow Wendy you look beautiful."

"ME...You tell me I look beautiful...did you look at yourself in the mirror," Wendy says as she admires Catherine in a mdnight blue sleeve-less dress; showing just the right amount of cleavage, matching pumps and jewelry and her hair in soft curls that framed her face.

"Shall we head in then," Catherine says wrapping her arm around Wendy's waist.

The women had a great time at dinner, it was then time to pay the check and Catherine snatched it off the table before Wendy had a chance, "Come on Cath, let me pay my portion of the bill...let's see I had the Ravioli Diablo...House Caesar Salad and we shared a Tiramisu."

"Can't a woman take her girlfriend out..." Catherine then put her hand over her mouth as a look of fear came into her eyes.

"Catherine did you just call me your girlfriend?"

"Please Wendy just forget I said that," Catherine says trying to avoid the subject and leave without anymore is said.

"Catherine, how can I when that's all I've been thinking about and hoping for since that time in your office."

"You mean you want me as your girlfriend."

"Of course I do, who wouldn't want a woman as lovely and as wonderful as you."

Catherine lets out a sigh of relief, "Thank God, I was so nervous hoping you wouldn't mind...and I hope you don't think I am immediately taking you to bed," Catherine says rather shyly.

"Of course I don't think like that Catherine, you are someone special to me...you're more than just someone to go to bed with...you're someone I can watch movies with, take walks with, play games with...you are someone I can grow to care very much about, not that I don't care a lot about you now...Cath, why are you crying."

"Wendy, you've made me one very happy woman...how about coming to my place for a cup of coffee...you can chat with Lindsey because I'm sure she'll be up waiting to see what happened, besides it was her idea that I ask you out and we talk about this."

"Well then we go to your place, that way I can thank her in person." Wendy says as she takes Catherine by the hand, she then lets Catherine pay the bill and takes her to her car.

"See you fifteen minutes.," Catherine says getting into her car as Wendy walks to hers.

Fifteen minutes later Catherine and Wendy walk up to the front door of the Willows house, "So are you ready for this baby?"

"I sure am honey....let's do it."

Catherine and Wendy walk into the house and see Lindsey bounce up from the couch and run up to the couple, "So...tell me what happend...what's going on?"

Catherine and Wendy take that as a cue to kiss each other deeply, "Does that answer your question?"

Lindsey smiles, "So it's official you and Wendy are girlfriend and girlfriend"

"Yes it is...I am your mom's girlfriend."

"And I am Wendy's girlfriend."

Lindsey runs over and hugs both women, "Thank you Wendy for making my mom happy."

"Lindsey, your mom makes me happier than you can ever imagine and I hope that will be the case for a long time to come."
