Prompt/Summary: NCIS winds up in Vegas on a case, they have to work with the local CSIs and Tony can't keep his hands off Nick. He’d never been so in love before. Or maybe lust was a better word for it. He’d also never felt so exhausted and run down, well at least for the past year. It had been a good couple of months. Then came the Meers case, a kidnapping of one little boy that had spiraled into the discovery of a dozen plus dead bodies that had been raped and mutilated. That discovery had then led to a cross country chase from DC to Vegas. It was in Vegas that the showdown happened. Fast and furious the bullets had flown between the cops and the paid thugs their Killer had hired. It was only after the smoke cleared and the bodies had been shoved to the floor that his team and the Vegas cops had discovered the barely breathing body of little Jonny Meers underneath the sick bastard that had raped and mutilated a dozen known boys just like him and had barely begun his game on Jonny.
Tony could barely remember the subsequent night and day of clean up, reports, and notification. The adrenaline had started to wear off at that point. It had been a nightmare chase to find the killer and he’d been lucky to have coffee let alone any sleep. It was only a couple of weeks ago that Tony’s life had been as perfect as it could get. He’d finally gotten his own team after ten years at Gibbs’ beck and call and he couldn’t have found it in himself to regret it at all. But then the responsibility of team leadership had started to sink in and the newness wearing off. Just in time really because at that very point his new team had been assigned the Meers case. Which went from being a report of a missing kid to a kidnapping within the space of a day. It also went from a kidnapping of one kid to the murder and rape of many little kids.
The bastard had left them clue upon clue, and thankfully his team had been on the ball and they’d figured out one clue after the other until it led them to the city of sin, and ironically enough the hometown of the murdering bastard they were chasing. Tony, despite the shining examples he’d had since starting at NCIS had become a big believer in inter agency cooperation and that included the local police and so on. He’d told the director about the case and then made some calls to the Vegas feds and the police chief as well. Everything went a lot smoother when people were told that the feds were invading.
And that’s how he had come to find his light at the end of the tunnel. He’d met his new one and only. He’d met him when the Vegas CSI’s had come to help out with the cleanup. He had found himself on his last leg and was leaning against the agency sedan when a shining black SUV pulled up to the scene. Tony had definitely perked up a bit when he saw the fresh faces. Especially since one of those fresh faces had about a mile long set of legs encased in tight denim and coming to the pointed tip of cowboy boots. He’d gone from looking at the thick legs and showcased package to the six pack abs and then on up to the easy going smile and wondering eyes.
It was from that point on that both Tonys had perked up just long enough to finish the case and go hunting. Barely a day later and a couple drinks down Tony found himself content and still on fire with his lust for the other man. They’d ended up chatting at the lab and bonding so much that Nick had been the one to initiate things. It had been a quick take out breakfast which had led to an even quicker make out session in the company car and then a long and slow fuck back at Nicks.
And that was where he was now, staring into the eyes of a man who understood. A man who within hours of meeting Tony loved him more than most had in a decade or so of knowing him. It had been a quiet night of love making and a sad sunrise filled with kisses and confessions. Tony had never wanted to stay somewhere so much ever before. He found himself saying as much as possible so that their time together wouldn’t end. He didn’t want to leave the bed, leave his lover’s arms, hell he didn’t want to leave Vegas.
But the mature adult in him knew better. Soon his teams calls would intrude and the peace he’d finally found would be shattered. Almost two days of knowing and loving Nick had showed him what he never knew he’d been missing. For once that emptiness in his chest and his soul hadn’t been there. In Nick’s arms he was content, he felt real, and he felt connected to something so much greater than himself. He hadn’t realized that real love was what he’d always been missing. And to feel such love in return was amazing. It was something that Tony knew would break him to give up. And before he could stop the words he had whispered a promise of long distance romance and commitment. The words and the meaning behind them scared Tony to the core. But he knew looking into Nick’s eyes that whatever sorrow and distance they faced in the future, their love was more than worth it. It was worth more than anything Tony would ever know now or again. And as he moved further into Nicks’ arms he knew that within a moment’s glance his life had changed again and he couldn’t find it in himself to regret it at all.
