If one was precise then a diamond was nothing more than high condensed carbon. And yet it was so much more. People killed each other to own these stones. Nick stared down at the young woman who had been stabbed just so the thief could take her jewelery, including her engagement ring. He felt disgusted. But suddenly his gaze fell on his own ring. A small band of platinum with a beautiful diamond in it. With a tender smile he looked at Gil Grissom who had given him the ring. And suddenly he understood the urge to own this stone.
