What were the odds? He hadn’t spoken to them since he left New York. Ten years later he ran into his parents at a store in Miami. Speed had almost sneaked off before they saw him, but the store owner called out his name and they turned and stared in shock.

Ten years later and they were still able to make him feel useless.

‘Still can’t take the time to clean up, I see.’
‘I see you’re still going by that stupid nickname.’
‘Your brother is attending Harvard; he’s going to be a doctor.’
‘Are you even doing anything with your life or just freeloading.’

Speed stormed out of the store, hopped on to his bike and sped down the highway trying to get away from the past. It only took ten minutes for them to shatter everything he had built since he left.
