Summary: Riley and Catherine start their living together 'trial period'.

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon when Catherine and Riley began packing
the moving boxes so the two of them can start their time under one roof,
which they both hope will be a permanent move after this month.

"My God woman how many clothes do you own, you realize you only need
clothes for a month and I do have a washer and dryer...so I can wash
your clothes."

"I know Cat, but I figured I would bring enough clothes so it doesn't
look like I'm wearing the same outfit over and over again...people would
begin to think I was poor."

"Hey honey we are on the city payroll, we are poor." Catherine says with
a laugh.

Catherine helps Riley tape the box shut and asks "What about this
container of cds and dvds you want this to come with us?"

"Yea why not, maybe we can listen to one of the cds while driving back
to your place."

"First let me see what you have here....not bad baby...Nat King
Cole....Glen Miller...Randy Travis...Lynyrd Skynyrd...Creed...Katy
Perry...even some Irish Ballads, wow talk about eclectic?"

Well, I guess the big band stuff was because of my parents because they
listened to it when I was growing up, the country and newer rock were on
a whim, Skynyrd I've always liked and the Irish Ballads those are
because of my ethnicity, I guess that stuff is kind of in my blood."

"Damn...my parents never really did the 'old country' kind of thing so I
really don't know what my roots are, or where my great grandparents were
from."

"Well next time you get on the computer, check one of those family tree
sites, that might help you out."

"Sounds good...so you ready to go?"

"You bet hon, let's get going."

Catherine and Riley's new living arrangement was working out
wonderfully, however Riley didn't change the address or home phone
number on her employment record for a few reasons, first of all the
month wasn't up yet and she had agreed to give this trial period a month
and it had only been two weeks, and secondly, even though the whole lab
knew they were dating, they didn't want to tell anyone anything because
the two thought it might be bad luck if they revealed anything about the
living arrangement.

"I have to go get my mail after work sweety, so it's prbably best we
drive separately to work tonight...I told my landlord what we were doing
and she said that was okay, she even wished us luck and asked if she
should start showing my apartment...but I told her this was just a trial
period, but you never now I could learn to love it here."

"No problem, so you think this could be permanent?"

"C'mon Cat you promised no prodding, pushing or nagging about this...but
so far I'm rather comfortable in this shack you call a house." Riley
answers trying hard not to bust out laughing.

"Shack huh, I'll show you shack..." and with that Catherine carries a
pillow and blanket out to the backyard and puts them in the tool shed,
"There Miss Adams are your sleeping quarters for the morning."

Lindsey comes running down the stairs screaming, "MOM STOP Please...Why
are you putting that pillow and balnket in the tool shed...I thought
this was going so well...please tell me what happend."

Both Catherine and Riley are shocked at Lindsey's near hysterical
reaction and realize their kidding went to far, "Linds honey don't worry
Lee and I aren't fighting."

"Then why are you putting her pillow and a blanket out in the shed?"
Lindsey says as she tries hide the few tears she has shed.

"Oh baby, it was nothing, Your mom and I were just goofing around, I
jokingly called the house a shack and your mom went and got a pillow and
a blanket to punish me for the little joke...so don't worry everything
is great between your mom and I...Come here hon." Riley then embraces
Lindsey til her tears have dried.

"So you're still in love with my mom and are staying here for the month
for that trial period."

"Yes Lindsey and you know your mom isn't the only one I love, Lindsey
you are such a wonderful person and as corny as it sounds a 'chip off
the old block' how could I not love you too."

Hearing that admission of love for her daughter coming from Riley,
Catherine could only run up to her two favorite ladies and devour them
with hugs and kisses, and after she kissed Riley deeply once more she
looked at her girlfriend straight in the eye, "I never thought I could
ever love you more than I already did, but hearing you say that just
makes me love you even more."

"And I love you Cat...hey Lindsey there is something that you must never
forget..."

"What's that Lee?"

"I love you too sweety."
