The moment he left New York, he had vowed never to fall in love again. He had felt the pain of losing someone and would not subject himself to that a second time. When he got an itch he went out and scratched it. He enjoyed his job and spending time with his friends. To him nothing was missing from his life.

Until Horatio.

Horatio courted him; set out to win Speed’s heart. Took him to dinner, brought him flowers, even danced with him under the moonlight. Showed him what Speed didn’t even realize he was missing.

And Speed broke his own vow and fell in love.
