Horatio Caine looked around at his team, in his opinion the best around.

Calleigh Duquesne was the top of her field. Her uncanny ability to know a gun by the sound it makes made her an asset. He had gone down personally to New Orleans to recruit her. She was beautiful and deadly.

Eric Delko had caught his eye when he was working on bomb squad; he had helped out with retrieving pieces of a bomb that had gone off underwater. His observation skills of what to retrieve were exceptional.

Alexx Woods had already been part of the team. She was part of the team when he had left and still there when he returned. She was the one that kept them together. Mother to each and every one of them

Tim Speedle seemed to be permanent fixture in the lab. He was the one person Horatio could always count on. His ability to get results fast and accurately, hence his nickname, ‘Speed’.

“What are you thinking?” Speed asked his lover.

“My family,” Horatio answered.
