Title: A Very CSI Teens New Year
By: 10th-letter
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG13
Summary: AU, but in the same universe as my A CSI Babies Chirstmas story. It's New Year's Eve and a now 25 year old Gil Grissom is still babysitting for our heroes. He's carrying a surprise behind his back in hopes of an interesting New Year's.

A 25-year old Gil Grissom knocked on the door of his frequent babysitting gig. Well, babysitting was no longer the right term. The youngest of his charges was now 14, the oldest 16. They weren’t babies by any stretch of the word. No matter how juvenile Greg may act at times. Gil had long since dropped the nickname Gilly. A now 15-year old Warrick answered the door.

“Hey, Gil. Happy New Years.” He said, a small smile on his face.

“Happy New Years, Warrick. I brought surprises for everyone, but they have to wait until midnight.” Said Gil, shifting the brown paper bag he was holding.

“You brought us alcohol, didn’t you? You know we’re underage, right?” asked Warrick, ushering Gil through the door.

Gil smiled, “I said it was a surprise. Where is everyone?”

“Sara’s upstairs in one of the spare rooms with that ratty science book you gave her. Catherine is on the phone. Again. Nick and Greg are out back. They spend a lot of time alone together.” Said Warrick. “I’ve been watching Dick Clark’s Rockin New Year’s Eve.”

Suddenly a loud scream came from the kitchen as Catherine shouted into the phone, “I said to leave me alone Eddie! Go get drunk with Mike Keppler again! Or better yet, find one of your other girlfriends to cling to! I’m sure Erica Sikes would love to hear from you again! We’re through! Ugh!”

Catherine came storming out of the kitchen wearing an outfit that was way too revealing for her 16 year old body. She looked Warrick in the eyes and huffed. “That boy is so annoying!”

“I told you, Cath. You should’ve just gone out with me when you had the chance.” Said Warrick smoothly.

“I wasn’t aware the offer expired. Hey, Gil.” Said Catherine, without even sparing a glance at the older man. Catherine smiled and snaked her arms around Warrick’s waist.

“I believe this is my cue to leave.” Said Gil, stepping away. He was heading up the stairs to check on Sara when the sliding glass doors leading to the back yard slid open.

“Nick! I told you it was nothing! It was a game of spin the bottle! Ryan’s not even interested in me, his friend Eric brought him to the party on a dare!” shouted Greg, his hair spiked a large metal chain dangling from his neck.

“You still kissed him, Greg. That’s what I’m angry about. Hi, Gil.” Said Nick, looking up at Gil, his eyes watering.

“I didn’t flip out when I found you and Don making out in the locker room! Thank God Danny found me!.” Replied Greg. “Hey Gil.”

“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you and Ryan liked each other!” spat Nick.

“I don’t like Ryan, Nick. I thought you knew that!” replied Greg.

“There’s a lot about you I thought I knew.” Said Nick darkly before storming upstairs.

Greg was stunned. Gil walked over to him and laid a hand on his shoulder. “Wanna tell me what happened, Greg?”

“No, but it may help. A few weeks ago, there was this party at my friend Calleigh’s house. She had invited her friends from Miami: Ryan, Eric, Alex and Tim. We stole some of her dad’s whiskey and played spin the bottle. My turn landed on Ryan and Nick happened to walk in right when Ryan and I were kissing. Nick knows Calleigh from camp, so he goes over there all the time. Anyway, Nick walked in and freaked out! I broke the kiss and went chasing after him.” Greg said, taking very few breaths.

Gil patiently waited for Greg to finish. “And why do you think Nick reacted so strongly?”

Greg took a deep breath and went on. “Well, I stayed late after school one day after Chem Club and I remembered Nick had football practice, so I went looking for him in the locker room. I saw him and Don Flack making out! I freaked out and ran right into Danny Messer and told Danny what happened. Danny freaked out as much as I did and Nick and Don heard. Nick and I have been fighting ever since.”

“So you think Nick reacted negatively to seeing you and Ryan kissing so he decided to kiss Don Flack?” said Gil calmly.

“Yeah, but Gil. You want to know something?” asked Greg.

“Sure.”

“I never liked Ryan. Sure he’s cool and all, but I think I’m getting feelings for Nick. You’re not mad, are you?” said Greg nervously.

“Greg, why would I be mad? I’ve known you since you were 4. I don’t care what gender you may prefer. You are who you are, and nothing will ever change that.” Said Gil.

“Thanks, Gil. That means a lot. You should go talk to Sara. She keeps clinging to that stupid science book like it’s The Bible.” Said Greg before walking off upstairs to find Nick.

Gil followed him and knocked on Sara’s door.

“Come in,” came Sara’s voice, followed by a gasp. “Oh, Gil! I didn’t know you were here! Greg said he’d tell me when you came! I swear, one of these days I’ll kill him, he can be so annoying sometimes. But kind of cute at the same time you know? Like a puppy. That was a very weird analogy. I’m rambling, so I’m just going to shut up now.”

“It’s nice to see you Sara. I don’t understand why you’re still reading that book, a lot of the information in there is out of date now. I’ll get you a new edition for your birthday, how about that?” said Gil, sitting on the edge of the bed Sara was lying on.

“I’d like that, Gil. Are those new glasses? They look really nice on you.” Said Sara, blushing.

“Why thank you Sara. I appreciate the compliment. Now let’s go downstairs and join the others. I think I can hear Greg dragging Nick down the stairs.”

Sara nodded and closed the book following Gil downstairs to the living room.

A few hours later, the group was all gathered around the TV watching the ball start to lower. Gil had brought champagne and poured each of them a glass. Greg had apparently managed to make up with Nick as Nick’s arm was currently around Greg’s waist. Warrick was sitting on the couch, Catherine right in his lap. Sara was by herself, her champagne glass almost empty. Gil walked over to Sara, the bottle of champagne in his hand.

“More champagne, my dear?” asked Gil. Sara blushed and nodded.

“Oh! The countdown’s starting!” shouted Greg.

“We’ll each say a number and rotate.” Suggested Nick.

Gil liked the idea. “Ten.” He said, inching closer to Sara.

“Nine.” Said Sara.

“Eight” said Catherine, subtly inching herself closer to Warrick.

“Seven” said Warrick, not falling for Catherine’s moves at all.

“Six.” Said Greg, trying to move his mouth as close to Nick as he could without looking foolish.

“Five.” Said Nick, smiling at Greg’s obvious move.

“Four.” Continued Gil.

“Three.” Said Sara.

“Two” Said Catherine.”

“And I get one, cause I’m number one.” Said Warrick.

“Happy New Year!” they all shouted. The next few minutes were a blur of drunken kissing as Catherine gave up all subtlety and pounced on Warrick, forcing him into a passionate kiss. Warrick didn’t mind. Nick pulled Greg behind the couch and pushed him to the floor.

“Ow! Nick!” spat Greg.

“Shut up, Greggo.” Said Nick, straddling Greg and kissing him. Greg squealed with delight and draped his right leg over the side of the couch smacking Warrick on the head.

“Will you two knock it off back there! I have a hottie on my lap I need to focus on!” shouted Warrick.

“So do I!” replied Greg.

In the confusion, Sara walked over to Gil and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. “Happy New Year, Gil” she said.

“Happy New Year, Sara” he replied.
