Title: Road Trip
By: Fran Holland
Pairing: Gil/Nick

Nick threw the last of his clothes in his overnight bag and zipped it up. He quickly made a mental list of things to bring on the trip and ticked them off one by one. He was dreading this trip to Los Angeles, four hours in the car with Gil Grissom was not something he really wanted to do. It wasn't because he didn't like his boss, it was the complete opposite, he liked him too much.

Nick brought his bag into the living room and glanced at his watch. Grissom was supposed to pick him up at 9:00, so he had about ten minutes to wait. He picked up the remote and clicked on the television. He channel surfed for a few minutes, not seeing anything interesting, so he clicked the television off and leaned his head back. It was going to be a long day.

Gil and Nick had both worked last night. They both took off about thirty minutes early to go home shower, pack and get on the road. The meeting with the L.A. crime lab was scheduled for 1:45 this afternoon. They were supposed to compare notes on the Iverson case. It seemed that the L.A. crime lab had a case that was identical and Grissom wanted to see the body of the young girl and compare notes.

Nick jumped when he heard the honk outside. He quickly stood up and grabbed his bag. He glanced around to make sure that all the lights were off and locked the door on his way out. He ran down the stairs and opened the back passenger side door of Gil's Denali.

He tossed his bag in and slammed the door. He opened the front door and slid inside the cool interior.

"Head 'em up and move 'em out, boss." Nick said with a smile.

Gil brought his sunglasses down on his nose to look over them. "You are too young to remember 'Rawhide'."

"Griss, really now, do you forget where I'm from." Nick grinned at him as he buckled up.

"As if you would let anyone forget." Gil said dryly and put the SUV in reverse. They did not speak again until Gil was on I-15. Nick finally had enough of the classical station and without asking, started punching the buttons.

"I was enjoying that, Nick." Gil said with a glance in Nick's direction.

"Sorry, but if you want me to stay awake, we are going to have to find another type of music." Nick said as he continued to punch buttons until the voice of Garth Brooks came out of the speakers.

"Yes." Nick said with a grin at Gil. "Now, this is music."

With a pained sigh, Gil once again turned his attention to the road. They passed through Henderson and hit the desert. Finally, Gil couldn't stand it any more and hit the off button on the radio.

Nick had been slumped down in his seat singing to a Sammy Kershaw song and jumped at the sudden quiet.

"What did you do that for?" Nick asked, sitting straighter in his seat.

"Nick, as much as I love hearing you sing, that music is giving me a headache. And since you don't like classical or hard rock and I don't like country, we have come to an impasse and must settle for the sound of silence."

"Who said I don't like hard rock?" Asked Nick.

"I've never heard you listen to it, so I assumed you only liked country music." Said Gil, sparing Nick a glance before bringing his eyes to the road again.

"I like pretty much anything except quartet gospel and rap." Nick said. "That's what you get for assuming, you know what they say... So, what else have you assumed about me?"

"What do you mean?" Gil asked, "I think I know you pretty well."

"Sure you do. What's my favorite color?" Nick asked.

"Blue." Gil said confidently.

"Lucky guess. What is my favorite type of candy bar?"

"Hershey's Plain." Gil was feeling cocky. He had seen Nick eat enough of them.

"Favorite Football team?"

"Okay, that is so simple. It's an insult to my intelligence." Gil shot Nick a disgusted glance. "If we are going to play Twenty Questions, at least make it worth my time."

"Oh, so you want to play hardball." Nick nodded his head up and down. "Favorite television show?"

"Ahhh, MythBusters." Gil tapped a little drum roll on the steering wheel.

Gil was getting a bit too smug, so Nick thought he would shake him up a bit. "Boxers or briefs?"

Gil's tapping stopped. He quirked his eyebrows at Nick. "That's a trick question, you wear boxer briefs."

Nick's mouth dropped open. Gil laughed. "Locker room observations, Nick."

"Oh, oh yeah." Nick flushed a bit, but decided if Gil could play this game, he'd give it his all.

"Blonds, brunettes or redheads?"

"Brunettes." Gil said and then added, "of course, I haven't seen you with any in a long time. Have you given up on women?"

Nick sucked in a breath, had Gil guessed? No, he couldn't have. "Hey, I'm asking the questions."

"Carry on then."

"Favorite brand of beer?" Asked Nick.

"Bud Light." Gil said with a grimace. "You have unrefined taste buds."

Nick smirked. "Favorite food?"

"Easy. Chocolate, in any shape, form or fashion." Gil said with a slight smile.

Looking back on this whole scene, Nick couldn't have said why he said what he said at that moment.

"Gay, Straight or Bi?"

Gil jerked the wheel so hard that they went off on the shoulder for a few seconds. Once he had the car under control again, he slowed the vehicle. Nick stared straight ahead, not daring to glance over at his boss.

"Straight?" Gil answered the question with a question.

"I guess I stumped the boss, huh?" Nick whispered and still would not look in Gil's direction.

With a calmness that he did not feel, Gil said, "Using evidence and past observations, you are not gay either, which only leaves one possible conclusion."

"Brilliant deduction, Sherlock." Nick said wryly.

Gil pulled off on the shoulder. They were in the middle of the desert and not a car was in sight. He put the SUV in park and opened the power windows before shutting off the engine. He turned in his seat to look at Nick. Nick was looking out the side window, still afraid to look at his boss. Afraid of what he would see in his eyes. Mentally kicking himself for putting an end to the fun he was having with Gil.

"Nick? Why did you let me in on this secret of yours?" Gil asked.

"Don't really know. I guess I just wanted to tell someone and you seemed like the obvious...." Nick's voice trailed away.

"Nicky, please look at me."

Nick sighed and slowly turned to face Gil. "Look, Griss, I'm sorry that I've made you uncomfortable. I really don't know why I told you."

Gil looked into Nick's eyes. They stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity and Nick was the first to look away.

"Perhaps you told me because you feel comfortable with me and felt a connection of some kind." Gil said after a time. "Perhaps you sensed that I was the same as you."

Nick's eyebrows shot up and his lips parted. Gil could not have shocked him more if he would have slugged him. "What are you saying?"

"I'm saying that I'm the same as you. I enjoy a women's body, but I enjoy a man's body just as much." Gil said showing absolutely no emotion.

Nick shook his head as if to clear it. "Holy shit. I would never have guessed." He wiped his face with both hands and ran his fingers through his hair in a nervous gesture that Gil found endearing.

"Nick, if I asked you a question will you answer openly and honestly and not say what you think I might want to hear?"

Nick took a deep breath. "Sure, anything, Griss."

"Did you want me to find out your were bi-sexual, so that perhaps you and I... that I would...what we would....Fuck!!!!" Gil's voice was loud in the enclosed space. "Nicky, I find you very attractive, I like you as a person and I need to know how you feel about me. Now, if you don't find me attractive, just say so. I want you to be honest. Damn, I don't know what to say. If you told me that you are bi, just to get something off your chest... or if you told me because you find someone else attractive. Shit, I don't even know if you are seeing someone. Are you seeing someone?"

Nick was staring at his boss with growing fascination. Gil never cursed. He never spoke incoherently, like he just did. Suddenly, Nick got it and he began to laugh.

Hearing Nick laugh at him, Gil's face turned stormy. His hand struck the steering wheel with enough force to rock the vehicle.

"Griss, hold on. I wasn't laughing at you. Really." Nick said, holding out his hands to calm his irate boss down. "I was laughing at the situation. I like you, you like me, it just seems comical somehow."

Gil faced forwards and rested his forehead on the steering wheel and let out a deep breath. "So, now what? Can we go back to being friends and co-workers, knowing what we know about each other?"

"Co-workers? Definitely. Friends? Of course. Lovers? Even better." Nick said, holding his breath.

"Lovers? Look Nick, being lovers is out of the question. We work together. I'm your supervisor...." Gil started.

"Stop right there. If you mentioned sexual harassment, I'm going to knock you out of this truck." Nick said forcefully.

"I wasn't going to mention sexual harassment, I was just going to say that it would be a very bad idea for us to act on this...this....you know."

"You're scared." Nick positively crowed. "Gil Grissom is scared."

"I. Am. Not." Gil grated out between clinched teeth. "I just think that we should be prudent and not act on this mutual attraction."

Suddenly, Nick was leaning over the console and had Gil in a clinch. One hand behind Gil's neck pulling him forward and one hand gripping the steering wheel for balance. His mouth was on Gil's and Gil's universe exploded. The kiss only lasted a moment. Just long enough for Gil to lose all thought. When Nick pulled away, their eyes met. Nick's were dark with desire and Gil's were stunned.

"What was that?" Gil stuttered.

"And they call you a scientist." Nick said dryly.

"Nick, God, Nicky... we can't...." Gil's speech deteriorated into gibberish. "I don't....what are...."

Nick smiled a sexy smile at him and Gil stopped trying to speak. He just stared at the gorgeous man looking back at him and soon he was smiling himself.

"Do you want to know what I want to do?" Nick asked him a little while later as they were once again driving through the hot, Nevada desert.

"What?" Gil asked.

"After the meeting with LAPD's crime lab, I want to have a nice dinner and find a nice hotel with a pool. After we work off the dinner in the pool, I want to go to our room and fuck each other's brains out. How's that sound?" Nick could not believe how bold he had become.

Gil once again swerved onto the shoulder, but corrected it and Nick could see the blush on his face and neck.

"Please try to refrain from saying things like that while I'm driving a large vehicle in excess of 70 miles an hour." Gil said dryly, with a slight hitch in his voice. Nick was putting mental pictures in his head and at this rate the rest of the drive to LA was going to be extremely painful, since he was wearing tight jeans and the crotch area was getting tighter.

He spared a glance over at Nick and Nick looked back with unabashed glee. He looked like a kid in a candy store.

"Sure, boss. Won't say another thing about having sex. Or sex in general. Or being alone together in a hotel room. Or my mouth on your..."

"Nick!" Gil shouted.

"Sorry." Nick said in a voice that told Gil he was anything but sorry. Nick turned up the radio and fiddled with the buttons until he found a station out of L.A. and began to sing along with Def Leppard's 'Pour Some Sugar On Me'.

Gil groaned and tried to ignore the man beside him be thinking of the article in the latest forensic publication on latent prints on frozen flesh. Nick continued to sing to the radio, switching from station to station as the need arose.

Two and a half hours later, they pulled into LA. Nick got out the directions from Mapquest and both men became all business as Gil negotiated LA traffic and their minds went to the case at hand.

By the time they pulled into the parking lot of LAPD's crime lab, their previous conversation was forgotten and they were focused on the evidence.

"Well, that was fruitful." Gil said as they once again walked outside into the hot, California sunshine. "He was definitely in LA."

Nick nodded and they had got inside the SUV before he spoke. "He's escalating. Our vic was in worse shape."

"Yeah." Gil agreed, as he put the truck in drive and pulled out into traffic. He headed east towards Las Vegas. Nick sent him a quizzical look.

"Where are you going?" He asked. "I thought we were going to find a hotel and dinner."

"I know a place in Victorville that serves great steaks. It's only 85 miles, you can hold out, can't you?" Gil cocked his head in Nick's direction.

"Sure, I can wait." Nick said, as he got comfortable for the ride. The men continued to talk about the case until Gil pulled into the parking lot of an old rustic style building.

Nick looked out of the window and said, "Doesn't look like much, are you sure this is the place?"

"Looks can be deceiving, Nick." Gil said as he put the truck in park and turned off the ignition. Nick got out and the men walked into the dark interior of the building. The smells were heavenly. Nick's mouth began to water. The hostess was an overweight Hispanic woman with a wide smile. She seated the men in a booth and gave them menus.

The men looked over the menus and a short while later a slim, young man of about 19 came up to get their orders. The men each ordered a steak, Gil's well done and Nick's rare, which caused Gil to frown in disgust.

"There are parasites in beef cattle, Nick, you should cook all meat to a temperature of at least..."

Nick interrupted, "Shut up, Griss."

Gil's eyes widened with shock. Nick looked at him and laughed. He was still laughing at the older man when the young waiter brought their drinks, iced tea for Gil, Coke with a lime for Nick.

The men settled into an easy conversation about food and favorite restaurants and soon their steaks arrived with large baked potatoes and fresh rolls. Conversation stopped as both men realized how hungry they really were. They had skipped lunch and it was now close to six o'clock.

Finally, Nick pushed his thoroughly cleaned plate away and sighed as he leaned back in the booth. "Wow, that was the best steak I've had in years."

Gil smiled across at Nick. He noted how Nick's eyes were sleepy looking and his hair was ruffled from the breeze. His polo shirt was form fitting and leaning back in the booth like that caused the material to tighten and Gil could see his nipples through the fabric.

"Let's get out of here. We need to check into the hotel before dark, so you can play in the pool." Gil said as he took out his wallet and fished out his credit card. He paid at the front desk and a few minutes later, they were driving down the road again. They were both lost in their own thoughts.

Nick broke the silence by saying nervously, "Gil, can I ask you something?"

"You can ask me anything. I hope you know that, Nicky."

"How long has it been since you've had sex?"

Gil made a strangled sound and gripped the steering wheel. Apparently, Nick was bound and determined to make him wreck the truck before this trip was over.

"Gil?" Nick said hesitantly.

"Let's just say that it has been a very long time and leave it at that, okay?" Gil said quietly.

They rode in silence for a few more minutes and it appeared to Nick that they were leaving the city limits. He knew that there was nothing between Victorville and Barstow, so he cleared his throat and said, "Gil, where exactly are you going?"

"Don't worry. We are almost there." Gil said, as they came up on a little strip mall. Gil pulled into the shopping center and swung into a parking spot in front of a package store lit with neon signs.

"I believe I'm going to need some liquid courage tonight. Do you want me to pick you up anything? Bud light?" Asked Gil.

"Hey, good idea. A six pack of beer would be great." Nick said and reached around to get his wallet. "Let me chip in my share."

"I got it." Gil said as he got out of the truck and shut the door, leaving Nick to watch him enter the package store. Gil had left the truck running, so Nick scanned the radio stations again, looking for a decent station. It did not take him long to find a country station and he was tapping his fingers and humming along with Alan Jackson when Gil came out of the store holding a large shopping bag.

Once he was settled and they had turned around in the parking lot, Gil turned off the highway onto a small paved road just outside of town. Nick was singing along with The Judd's 'Mama He's Crazy', Gil listened to the lyrics as he drove slowly down the road. He really liked Nick's voice and the lyrics took on a whole new meaning being song by a man who was crazy about another man. Gil knew that Nick liked him, liked him a lot and Gil felt the same way. He just didn't know how this 'affair' was going to spill over into the workplace.

Gil followed a curve in the road and a very pretty hotel came into view. Nick sat up and stared with his mouth open. "Cool. How did you ever find out about this place?"

"I stayed here two years ago. A friend recommended it, so I just stopped in on my way back from a convention in LA." Gil explained.

Gil pulled the car up to the front portico and he and Nick both got out of the truck and went inside. Nick assumed that Gil was going to play it cool and get two rooms, after all, the LVPD was picking up the tab, but Gil surprised him by asking the pretty, dark haired clerk, "Do you have a single with a king size bed facing the pool?"

She smiled and nodded, "Sure do. How many nights?"

"Just one." Gil said as he once again pulled out his credit card.

The clerk was very friendly and efficient so the check-in did not take long. Pretty soon, Gil and Nick were throwing the bags on the bed.

Nick was looking at everything in the room. "This place is nice. The bathroom has a garden sized tub, and hey, look at this..." Nick was pointing to the television. "HDTV. How cool is that?" Nick began looking in all the drawers.

Gil gave Nick a smile. "You are so easy to please. Quit wasting time and get ready to swim. It'll be dark in about an hour."

Nick opened his bag and took out a pair of shorts. He faced away from Gil as he pulled his shirt over this head and Gil had to pretend to read the check-out pamphlet so he would not stare. The shirt was tossed on the bed and Nick unzipped his jeans and kicked off his shoes. Socks and jeans joined the shirt on the bed and Gil's mouth went dry as he looked upon Nick's sexy butt in just a pair of gray boxer briefs. Nick hooked his fingers on the waistband of his underwear and they were dispensed of quickly. Gil openly stared at Nick's perfect ass and sighed to himself when Nick slipped on the shorts.

He turned and looked at Gil, "Hey aren't you gonna change?"

"I'll just keep you company. I'm not much of a swimmer." Gil said. "Let me fix a drink and I'll meet you by the pool."

"Alright. I'll see you out there." Nick said as he reached into the shopping bag and pulled out two beers. Nick grabbed a towel from the bathroom and walked out the door.

Gil poured his scotch into the plastic tumbler that was supplied with the room and followed Nick. When he arrived poolside, Nick was already doing laps. He was the only one in the pool and Gil sat down at one of the patio tables to watch him swim.

Nick swam about ten laps and then waded over to the side next to Gil's chair. He pushed his fingers through his wet hair and leaned his elbows on the side of the pool.

"The water's great, sure you won't change your mind?" Nick looked up at him.

Gil took a sip of scotch and shook his head, "I'm fine."

Nick pulled himself up by his arms and swung his legs out of the pool. He shook his head to clear the water from his ears and reached for his towel that he had thrown on a chaise lounge. Nick quickly dried off and looked up to see Gil staring at his clinging shorts. He just stood there watching Gil stare for a few minutes and then asked in a husky voice, "Like what you see?"

Gil's blue eyes met Nick's brown ones. "Very much." Gil's voice was almost a whisper.

"Let's go back to the room." Nick said, already moving towards the door to their room. Gil noticed the beers were untouched and he grabbed them on his way. He guessed that Nick did not need the liquid courage that he did.

Gil opened the door and before he could close it, he was slammed up against it and Nick's mouth was crushing his. His hands carrying the beer bottles and his drink hung uselessly by his sides and he let Nick have his way. Nick's tongue seemed to be everywhere, his mouth, his neck, even his ears. Gil felt lightheaded and moaned as his knees threatened to give way.

Nick came up for air and smiled at Gil with a smile that was pure heat. His pupils were dilated and his breath was ragged. He took the beer and drink from Gil and sat them down on the table. Then he reached up and one by one, unbuttoned Gil's shirt.

"Nicky, I....are you sure...sure you want this?" Gil couldn't seem to catch his breath.

"More than I've ever wanted anything in my life." Nick said with so much passion that it was Gil's undoing and he sat heavily on the bed. Nick sank to his knees between Gil's thighs and continued, "I've waited a long time for this."

He reached up to Gil's chest and gently pushed him backwards. He unbuttoned and unzipped Gil's jeans and grabbed the waistband and tugged. Gil raised his hips so that Nick could pull the tight pants off. The friction over his hard cock caused him to groan.

He did not seem to know what to do next. He lay there on the bed with his feet still planted on the floor, staring at the ceiling, waiting and wondering about what was to come and then he felt Nick's hot mouth on the front of his boxers. He felt the heat through the cotton and his cock throbbed. He felt Nick's hands on his thighs, on his balls and all along the length of his shaft. Jesus, how many hands did he have?

Nick stood and pulled off his wet shorts. Gil leaned up on one elbow to watch. The shorts hit the floor and Gil focused his attention on Nick's hard cock. He sat up and tentatively cupped Nick's balls. Nick's eyes closed and his head fell back. He felt Gil's warm breath on his cock and whimpered, "Please Gil, don't make me beg."

Gil didn't hesitate and his mouth came down and took Nick's cock deep inside. Nick's hips bucked and he cried out Gil's name. Gil continued to work Nick's cock in and out of his mouth, applying just the right amount of suction to drive his lover crazy. His hand continued to play with Nick's balls, rolling them, squeezing them lightly.

"Gil, God, you have to stop...I'll come to quick...stop, please." Nick took a step backwards, pulling his cock out of Gil's hungry mouth. Gil moaned in frustration.

"Nicky, please, I want to taste you. I want to make you come." Gil panted.

Nick shook his head and pushed Gil back on the bed again. "In a minute." He said grinning down at Gil. "Scoot up." Gil wiggled his hips and scooted up towards the headboard until he was lying lengthwise on the bed. Nick lay beside him and laid his hand on Gil's chest, his hand roamed over the planes of Gil's pectoral muscles, down his belly and back up to caress his nipples. Gil's eyes were closed as he languished in Nick's touch. Nick's mouth was on his again and this time Gil was more prepared and their tongues met and did battle until both of their hips were grinding together. Nick growled as he yanked at Gil's boxers. "Get them off." Gil pulled off his underwear and tossed them to the floor. When Nick's cock touched Gil's, it was like an electric shock to his system. He moaned into Nick's mouth and he felt Nick's lips curve into a smile.

Nick pulled away and he looked down into blue eyes, hot with desire. He sat up and got up on his hands and knees and settled his body over Gil's. His mouth to Gil's cock and his cock to Gil's mouth. He waited patiently until he was sure that Gil was ready to take him in and then his mouth came down and swallowed Gil's cock all the way to its base. Gil bucked beneath him and grabbed Nick's hips to bring his cock down into his waiting mouth. The wet sounds of sucking and the moans of both men continued as each was driven closer to a climax. Gil tried to hold on, he really wanted to get Nicky off first, to relish to taste of his lover's semen, but Nick was so talented with his mouth that Gil couldn't help it. He screamed around Nick's cock as his orgasm hit him like a freight train.

Nick swallowed all of Gil's semen and turned all his attention to giving Gil the taste that he had wanted. His hips moved and he began fucking Gil's mouth with short thrusts and when he felt Gil's fingers graze the sensitive area under his balls, he came so hard that his eyes saw black for a few seconds. He felt Gil swallowing his load and whimpered in pleasure.

Nick rolled off of Gil and lay there trying to get his breathing to return to normal. Gil's hand moved over and ran up and down his thigh, and he reciprocated by lazily drawing circles with his finger over Gil's belly.

"Gil."

"Nick"

Both men had spoke at the same time and both laughed softly. Nick finally sat up and looked down at Gil. He noticed Gil's face was flushed and his breathing, while not ragged like a few seconds ago, was still not quite back to normal.

"So, how was for you?" Nick asked in a teasing voice.

"I saw stars. And rainbows. And waterfalls." Gil said dreamily.

"Gil, can we take road trips more often?" Asked Nick as his hand wrapped around Gil's cock.
