Nick was in a sort of funk. He was upset that he would be on call during Christmas, and that meant that he couldn't go see his family in Texas. To add to the list, he and Gil really hadn't had a chance to talk since Nick had confessed his feelings to the man just a couple of weeks before. All of their interaction had taken place at crime scenes and in the lab, and they both had been professional.

Catherine had invited those that were going to be working or had no other plans to her house for a small gathering on Christmas Eve. Nick decided to go because it beat sitting home alone. He was surprised to see that Gil was there, and went over to say hello. The two men sat and talked for a while, and Gil told Nick that he wanted to discuss the subject they had talked about previously.

Nick told him that he really wanted to discuss that situation, but they should do it in private. Gil agreed, and they made arrangements to talk about it at Nick's place. Nick went to mingle with some of the other people, but his mind was on Gil the rest of the night. By the time Nick got back around to Gil again, he was startled to find that Gil had left.

The next morning, Nick was awakened by the doorbell. He got out of bed and saw Gil on his porch. He opened the door and invited Gil in. Gil sat down on the sofa and Nick asked if he wanted coffee. Nick came back from the kitchen and Gil turned to Nick.....

"First of all, I want to apologize for keeping you waiting so long for my answer to your proposition. I should have said something sooner, but I wanted to take some time to think about it....."

"I can understand that, Gil....."

Nick felt his stomach drop. He just knew Gil was about to tell him that he wasn't interested.....

"Nick, I want you to know that my feelings for you go even deeper than I realized. I don't want this to be just a casual thing. It's all or nothing....."

Nick was stunned. He couldn't believe that Gil was confessing feelings for him! He knew how he felt about Gil, but didn't know Gil felt the same way......

"I think I can live with that..."

"You think so?"

"I sure wouldn't mind finding out!"

With that, Gil leaned over and he and Nick shared their first kiss. Nick couldn't help thinking that this was definitely one Christmas to remember.....
