Gil ran a loving hand through Greg's hair, tousling it slightly.

"You look great today," he said softly, admiring how his boyfriend was dressed. Somehow, Greg could make jeans and a sleeveless shirt look .... well, romantic.

He could imagine this beautiful man in a more traditionally romantic outfit -- something like black velvet pants, knee-high leather boots, and a frilly white shirt.

Yes, that was how he'd like to see Greg dressed -- only he was sure that the younger man wouldn't go for it. He didn't think that velvet and silk were Greg's thing, though he'd never asked if Greg had ever been interested in wearing those kinds of clothes.

Gil didn't think it was too feminine for a man to dress like that -- instead, he thought it would make Greg look even more masculine and handsome than he already did.

Maybe he could buy the clothes for his boyfriend, and see if Greg would wear them. Perhaps out on a date to a romantic restaurant where the look would be appreciated.

No, that wouldn't quite work. He wanted Greg to try the clothes on first.

Would they be a good Christmas present? A small smile tugged at the corners of Gil's lips at the thought. It was a good idea, one that might actually work.

But no .... if he bought Greg that outfit for Christmas, then he wouldn't have the chance to try the clothes on before they were bought and get comfortable with them.

So he would find another way to bring up the subject. Leaning forward, he brushed a kiss across Greg's cheek, deciding that now was as good a time as any. After all, if he didn't broach the idea now, then he might lose his nerve and never ask Greg about it, and a golden opportunity would be lost.

An idea came into his head as his lips brushed across his boyfriend's cheek; Gil decided to go with it, before he could talk himself out of putting it forward.

"Greg, there's a new restaurant that's just opened up not far from here," he said, choosing his words carefully. "I wonder if you'd let me pick out something for you to wear for a dinner date there."

All right, so he'd broached the idea; now, if Greg said that he didn't mind Gil choosing something for him to wear, he'd put forth the thought of Greg wearing something out of the ordinary, something that Gil thought he would look absolutely wonderful in. Something sexy and romantic.

"Sure," Greg said with a shrug and a smile. "Did you mean go out clothes shopping, or did you want to pick something out of my wardrobe?"

Gil couldn't hold back a smile. This was proving to be much easier than he'd thought it would be. "Going out to do some clothes shopping," he said, trying to sound casual.

Greg nodded, laughing softly. "Sure. I could probably use a new image."

"What would say to a more .... romantic image?" Gil began, his words hesitant. "Not for everyday wear, of course. Not to wear to work. But .... when we go out."

"I wouldn't mind that," Greg told him with a smile. "I kind of like the idea of looking like a guy from a painting. Like some old-world knight stepping into the present."

Gil couldn't hold back his own answering smile; that was exactly what he'd had in mind. "That was just the image I was thinking of," he said softly, amazed that his own mind and Greg's could run so parallel to each other at times. "You don't think it would be too .... effeminate, do you?"

Greg shook his head. "One of those silk shirts with frills down the front, and tall leather boots? Hell no, that's not the slightest bit effeminate. I think it's hot."

"Oh, so do I," Gil whispered, reaching out to take his boyfriend's hand. "And I can't wait to see you dressed like that. I think you're going to look amazing."

He didn't just think it; he knew it. He could already picture Greg's new look.

Greg would look even more beautiful than he did already; Gil was sure of that. And he would fall even more deeply in love, if that was even possible.

"Are you ready to go on that shopping spree now?" Greg asked him, twining their fingers together and nodding towards teh front door. "Because I didn't have any plans for today. I wouldn't mind being dragged around a few shops to try on clothes. Sounds like kind of a fun day to me."

"I'd love to go now," Gil told him, getting to his feet and reaching for his keys with his free hand. "Seeing you in all those romantic old-fashioned clothes is going to be fun for me, too."

They both headed for the door, their steps a little faster than usual.

Oh yes, this was going to be fun, Gil told himself. He was already looking forward to it -- and he thought that, judging from Greg's eagerness, his boyfriend was, as well.

Gil led the way out to his car, smiling to himself as they got in and he started the engine. He was sure that this was going to be the most productive shopping trip he'd even taken.
