As Sara walked along the corridor towards her apartment she could hear the familiar and not-so-dulcet tones of Siouxsie Sue belting out from her apartment.

She knew it was her music, because no one else in her building would listen to it. She'd started as part of her teenage rebellion against her parent's choice of music. She would find modern cover versions of their favourites, and the Banshees had really met that need. She'd got into the rest of their music too. Like it was for many teenagers, alienation and identity crisis were very much a part of Sara's teenage years.

As she got even closer she could hear another voice singing along to the line 'Won't you come out to play.' She smiled to herself. Catherine. For all that woman could move to music like a dream, she couldn't carry a tune if her life depended on it. She rarely sang, or even hummed along, because she was quite self-conscious about her inability to keep tune.

Self-consciousness not helped any when early in their relationship they'd gone to a karaoke bar and Sara had won first prize. Though Sara didn't rate her voice that highly, she sang well and confidently. That night, singing a love song to Catherine had changed her voice just enough that she had probably deserved her win. Catherine had been amazed and ashamed of her own failure in equal measures.

As Sara slipped her key into the lock, 'The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful, and so are you' rang out in Siouxsie's voice supported less confidently by Catherine's. With impeccable timing, and the confidence of having listened to the song hundreds of times Sara burst into song as she entered the apartment.

"Dear Catherine, won't you come out to play." In mid-note Catherine's voice stopped. She blushed as she turned to face her lover, mortified to have been caught singing.

"Dear Catherine, let me see you smile," Sara continued, and Catherine did as in time to the beat she sashayed across the room, threw her arms around Sara and kissed her soundly.

In the background Siouxsie carried on alone, finishing off with a last chorus of 'Dear Prudence' before silence settled over the lovers.
