Nick sat up in bed, thinking. Usually he was able to get to sleep but tonight was different. Tonight Greg had escaped death. The killer had returned to the crime scene and attacked Greg. Luckily Sara and Sophia were there and the killer took off.
The fact that the killer had not been caught still bothered Nick.
Greg moved restlessly in his sleep and Nick caught a glance at him. His eyes landed on the bruise on Greg's face and the deep cut that ran down his neck. The killer had taken Greg and pushed him right into a wall before trying to stab him. Greg had gotten away with a couple of bruises and a deep cut down his neck.
Greg went to the hospital and was released shortly after.
The fact that Greg had almost died scared Nick even more. He was close to losing the only one he cared about.
"Nick?"
He quickly snapped out of his thoughts and looked over at Greg who had opened his eyes slowly and looked at him, confused.
"Are you okay? Can't get to sleep?"
And Nick realizes that if Greg had died then he would never hear that voice of his again.
"Baby?" Greg asked as he managed to sit up and look at Nick worried. "Oh my God."
Nick had tears running down the side of his face and he didn't realize it until Greg had reached out to wipe them away. Nick couldn't stop the tears as they kept coming. He had only then realized how much Greg meant to him.
"What's wrong?" Greg asked, growing more scared. "Nick, tell me."
Somewhere, Nick managed to find his voice as he reached his hand out and caressed Greg's cheek. "I love you."
Greg hadn't expected that and he almost went into shock. It was the first time Nick had said ‘I love you' and it made Greg want to cry as well. But as Greg was about to say something Nick had pressed his lips up against his and he fell into the passionate kiss.
Nick had been careful when he pushed Greg onto his back, not wanting to cause Greg any physical pain. "God, you're beautiful." Nick said against Greg's lips as he began to kiss the younger man's neck.
"Nick," Greg said as he regretted stopping him, "what has gotten into you? I mean, I love this whole idea of getting on me but what happened?" He asked as he began to rub Nick's back.
"Greg, have you realized that you had almost died? Almost died and left me here with out you? Do you have any idea how much pain I'd go through?"
Greg's eyes softened as he looked at Nick before sighing. "Nick, this has played over in my mind over and over again for a while-"
"And what could I have done if you left me?" Nick asked, cutting him off. "I'm not even sure how I could live with that."
Greg ran his fingers down Nick's chest. "I didn't know."
"Didn't know what? Didn't know how much pain I'd be in?"
Greg bit his lip. "I didn't know how to react. I've never been in that situation before." He said, in defense. "How was I supposed to fight him off?"
"Just promise me to be careful, okay?" Nick pleaded as he kissed Greg on the lips, lightly before pulling away.
"I promise." Greg replied as he wrapped his arms around Nick's neck. As he was about to pull Nick closer to him, he noticed that Nick's gaze was fixed on the bruise across his face. "It's nothing."
Nick ignored him as he ran soft fingers across it. "It's bad. My God. I'm going to beat the hell out of this guy."
Greg shrugged. "Could have been a masculine woman."
"Masculine woman?" Nick asked.
"Oh yeah. I've seen a couple of those in college. They're crazy man. One almost beat the hell out of me because I told her she had something on her upper lip."
"She beat you because of that?"
"I didn't realize that it was hair. She was growing a mustache."
Nick snorted. "Gross."
"Tell me about it. I was ready to give her a shaver for Christmas but I didn't want to die."
Death. The topic had managed to come up again and Nick placed his fingers over Greg's mouth. "Stop mentioning death or no sex for you."
Greg fake pouted. "Damn."
Nick laughed and kissed Greg more passionately then before as he ran his hands down Greg's chest. He wanted to taste Greg. Wanted to feel Greg. Just wanted Greg more than anything.
But then Greg pulled away and smiled up at Nick. "Nick?"
Nick frowned as he noticed Greg stopping him. "What?"
"I love you."***
