Gil glanced over at Greg across the table, wondering just how to bring up a subject he felt that they needed to talk about. He'd been wanting to suggest to Greg that he see a psychiatrist for a while now, but he didn't know how receptive his boyfriend would be to the idea.

He didn't think Greg would go for it, not without an argument. Ever since his abduction, Greg had been very wary of talking to people he didn't know well.

Gil could hardly blame him for that. But he had to talk to someone.

Yes, Greg was recovering from that horrific experience -- but Gil knew that he needed to talk to someone other than the person closest to him. Greg seemed to be closing himself off to anyone that he wasn't acquainted with, turning his back on the world.

That wasn't healthy, no matter which way anyone tried to look at it. Greg had every right to be wary, but his recovery was going to be severely hindered if he didn't face those demons, slay them, and come out victorious on the other side.

It wouldn't be easy, but he knew that Greg could do it.

Gil just wasn't sure of how to bring up the idea of his boyfriend seeing a shrink. How would Greg take it? Would he think that Gil was somehow dissatisfied with him, or with their relationship? Would he feel that Gil wanted him to change? Would it make him spiral into a depression?

He hoped that Greg wouldn't do any of those things, but he had no way of knowing how the suggestion would affect his boyfriend until he brought it up. But by then, the words would be out, and if they resulted in any kind of damage, it would already be done.

"I'm thinking about seeing a shrink."

Gil's head came up at the words, his eyes widening. He met Greg's gaze across the table, wondering if his boyfriend had somehow become a mind-reader in the time that they'd been together. How had he known just what Gil was thinking about?

None of that mattered, Gil assured himself. He was just glad that Greg had come to that conclusion, and that he'd done it on his own without having to be pushed, however gently. It seemed that things might be turning around in a more positive direction, and Gil was glad of it.

"I think that's a good idea, sweetheart." He reached out to take Greg's hand, squeezing it gently before letting go. "It's going to go a long way towards your recovery."

"I hope so," Greg said, his voice quiet. "I just feel like I have to do it."

Gil nodded, exhaling slowly, letting a feeling of relief sweep over him. Greg had come to just the conclusion that Gil wanted him to, without being prodded towards it. And if he was correct, then this could be the best step he'd take in his own recovery.
