"That's not what I meant, and you know it," Sara panted, recovering.

"You said 'Take me' and I took you at your word," I smirked in response. Sara was lying back, naked, flushed and beautiful in a post-coital state.

In context I knew precisely what she'd meant. I'd offered to take her home after a particularly rough day and she'd come storming out after the sheriff got on her case, almost demanding I take her home.

Some months ago we'd made our peace, but the tension between us had been building up again for a while. I don't think either of us recognised what it was at first, but when Sara admitted she was drinking because she was jealous of Chris I realised what she wasn't saying and I realised that I wanted more of Sara than I'd realised.

For quite a while I'd planned to do something, then Sara had given me the opening and I'd seized the moment.

She'd been startled when I followed her in, and shocked when I put my arms around her, leaning in to kiss her. But with that first kiss her confusion melted away as she melted into my body. I still led the way, pulling her clothes from her and kissing her all over before she'd undone more than a button or two on my blouse. My clothes didn't last long once she'd recovered from my forcefulness, indeed the blouse needed repair work as she'd simply torn it open in her rush to get my body exposed to her gaze.

The delight in her eyes as she saw me revealed before her gave me a buzz all of its own. The feel of her lips, tongue and fingers on my skin was awesome. That feeling as we kissed as our fingers explored inside the other was indescribable. I know tears of wonder were in my eyes, and I think Sara felt the same.

Now, lying languorously together, limbs entwined, Sara had found her voice. A few short weeks ago that comment would have sparked a fight. Now I recognised her teasing tone and relaxed.

It had been our first time, but somehow I knew it wouldn't be our last.
