Greg hurt all over. It was his fault, though. He'd gone out with some friends the night before, and had way too much fun. They'd had lots to drink in celebration of Greg's recent single status, and now Greggo was paying for it. He made his way to the bathroom, used the facilities, and washed his face. He then gobbled down some aspirin and made his way to the kitchen to make some coffee.

While waiting for the coffee to finish, Greg thought back to the night before. His friend Jeff had called him up and asked if he wanted to check out one of the new clubs that had opened recently, and for once, he had agreed. He felt it was time to spend time with his friends again, and so it began. He and Jeff had met up with more friends and the party was on! The only bad part was when Greg had gone to the bar to get more drinks and ran into Nick's new boyfriend Tony.

They were barely civil to each other, and once Greg got his drinks, he went back to the table and told Jeff and company what had happened. Jeff told him not to let it worry him because they were celebrating. Greg relaxed and went with the flow. The only other bad moment of the evening was when Greg saw Nick coming from the restroom area. Greg slipped into a corner so Nick wouldn't see him. It hurt Greg to see Nick, but he wasn't going to let it bother him.

The night went on, and Greg and his friends thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Greg knew he was drinking too much, but wasn't worried. He wasn't driving, and he was off from the lab for the next two days, so he partied on. They went to breakfast and Jeff put Greg in a cab and sent him home with promises of them talking the next day.

Greg poured himself a cup of coffee and after a few sips started feeling a bit more human. He was just about to get into the shower when he heard the doorbell ring. Without thinking and looking through the peephole, Greg opened the door to find Nick standing there.....

“What in gay hell are you doing here, Nick?”

“Hello to you, too, Greg...”

“What do you want, Nick?”

“Can I come in?”

“I'm not so sure I want you here, Nick...”

“Look, Greg, I just came by because I wanted to talk to you.....”

“So talk.....”

“I know you were at the club last night. Tony said ya'll ran into each other at the bar.....”

“So....I can go to the club if I want to...”

“I know that Greg. The truth is that Tony's pissed because he thinks I chose that club because I knew you would be there.....”

“Trouble in paradise already, Nick?”

“You could say that...”

“What the fuck does that have to do with me, Nick?”

“Greg, I made a mistake. I thought Tony would be good for me, but he's done more harm than good. I know I told you that I needed a change of scenery, and I thought I did at the time, but I guess I was wrong.....”

“Nick, you've got your nerve.....You tore me all to pieces when you walked away to go be with your precious Tony, and now, you're wanting to come back to me, right?”

“Well....”

“No, Nick! The answer is no.....I think too damn much of myself to put myself in a position where you can hurt me again. You wanted it so bad, well, you can keep your change.....”

With that, Greg slammed the door leaving Nick standing on the stoop.....
