Greg stood in the shower fuming. How dare Nick Stokes show up and expect him to just fall back into his arms! Granted, the idea of Nick's arms around him wasn't a bad idea at all, but Greg couldn't think of that now. He was supposed to be mad at Nick. Greg finished his shower and went to find his cell phone. He dialed Nick's number and waited for Nick to pick up. When Nick answered, Greg apologized for slamming the door in Nick's face, and asked if they could talk. Nick agreed and they decided to meet at Lonnie's Diner for coffee.

When Greg arrived, he was a bit nervous. He and Nick hadn't really talked at all since that day at the park. Greg decided that he wanted to hear what Nick had to say because even though they weren't together, Greg did still care what happened to Nick. As he made his way inside, Greg looked for Nick. When Nick saw Greg he broke into a huge grin and stood up next to the table. Greg sat down and the waitress came by for their order. After she brought their coffee, Greg looked at Nick and said: “I thought you wanted to talk.....”

“I do, G. But not here. We need a bit of privacy.....”

“Oh no we don't, big boy...Whatever you want to say can be said right here.”

“Okay, Greg....I don't want to argue.”

“Well, what's on your mind?

“Greg, I made a huge mistake with you. I treated you pretty badly, and I want you to know that I am deeply sorry for that. I know that I never should have pushed you away, and I want you to know that I realize that I was wrong to do so.”

“Nick, what about Tony? What is that all about?”

“I was going through some stuff in my head, and instead of talking to you and trying to make things tight, I turned to him thinking that somebody new would make everything go away. There was nothing between Tony and I but meaningless sex. I thought he would solve all my problems.”

“Well did he?”

“Not even close....I just made a bad situation worse because I hurt you and myself in the process.”

“Nick, I have to admit that I'm glad you got what was coming to you, but on the other hand, I'm really glad that you see where you went wrong. Nick, we were together too long for you not to be able to talk to me. Instead of pushing me aside, you should have turned to me and said something about what was going on. I might not could have helped, but I would have listened.”

“I realize that, Greg, I really do. That's why I came to see you. I want you to come home.”

Greg sat there in silence thinking about what Nick had said. He knew he wanted to go back to Nick, but he was afraid that he would end up hurt all over again. He needed to know that Nick was for real, and that Tony was gone for good.....

“Nick, where's Tony?”

“I honestly don't know. I dropped him off at his mom's house after we left the club, and I haven't seen or talked to him since. Tony thought we were going to get back together because we had broken up a couple of weeks ago, and when he called me, I agree to talk with him...but only to tell him that it was over. I almost let him talk me into sleeping with him again, but I decided that I shouldn't because I really wanted you.”

“So the two of you really are finished?”

“As far as I'm concerned we are.....”

“Nick, please listen to me. I really want to believe you. I really do, but.....”

“Greg, I understand. I broke more than just your heart. I broke the trust we had and so many other things. I'm willing to do anything to have the chance to earn your trust again.”

“Nick, I need some time to think about all this.....”

“Take all the time you need, babe.”

Greg got up to leave the diner and Nick took hold of his hand. As Greg stood there looking into Nick's eyes, he could see that Nick was serious. As tears welled up in Greg's eyes, he turned away from Nick and left. Nick watched Greg's car leave the parking lot and he went out to his truck. He sat there for a moment thinking about what had just taken place. He knew he had told Greg the truth about everything, and it felt good. He thought that if being honest with Greg felt this good now, it would have felt even better if he had done it a long time ago.

Greg drove around for a while before going home. Nick had given him a lot to think about, and he knew that he was going to have to think about everything and get it sorted out. He also knew that it was going to take a leap of faith to trust Nick again. Greg decided to sleep on it and would decide what to do in the morning. He made his way home and fell across the bed wondering what to do.

The next morning found Greg staring at the bedroom ceiling. He had fallen asleep sometime in the early morning hours and now he was awake again. He was tired but it was a good tired. He knew what he was going to do about the situation with Nick. He was going to go back to Nick, but he was going to start off in the guest room, and work his way back the other way. He felt that if they lived together first, the rest would take care of itself. He was excited to tell Nick of his plan, but knew that it was too early. Plus Nick had worked last night so he would be asleep right now anyway. Greg had plenty of time to talk to Nick.

Greg got up and showered. He had some errands to run, and then he was going to talk to Nick. He finished his errands later than he thought he would, and headed over to Nick's. As he pulled up in front of 922 Rose Ave., he smiled. He got out of the car and went through the gate to the front door. He rang the bell and waited for Nick to open the door. Nick opened the door and was surprised to see Greg standing there.....

“Hey, Greg...”

“Nick, I have some thing to say. I gave what you said to me some thought, and I'm here to give you my answer.....”

Nick stood there holding his breath. This was the moment he had been dreading and waiting for since he had spoken with Greg.

“We have a lot to work on, but if you are willing to try, then so am I......”

“Greg, are you sure?”

“As sure as I can be...”

“Baby, I promise you won't regret this......”

“I hope I don't either.....”
