"I can hardly believe we're here!" Greg's voice was high-pitched, excited.

Ryan couldn't hold back a smile at his boyfriend's exuberance. He could hardly believe that they were here, either -- in Paris, halfway around the world from Vegas.

This was a place that he'd always wanted to see, but he had never wanted to do it alone, so he'd never come here before. Now that he could share Paris and all of its romance and beauty with Greg, he couldn't wait to go out and start exploring the city.

"The city of light! One of the most romantic places in the world!" Greg continued, almost waving his arms in his excitement. "I've always wanted to see Paris!"

"So have I," Ryan said with a soft laugh. "And now we're going to!"

His own desire to see the city was at a fever pitch, but he knew that they wouldn't be able to get much, if any, sightseeing done tonight.

They were both exhausted; they'd had a long plane trip, with two layovers. And the hotel room they were in was far too luxurious for him to want to go anywhere tonight, before he got some sleep and was able to relax and recharge his batteries, so to speak.

Besides, Ryan told himself with a smile, they had twelve days here. Russell had given them a sixteen-day vacation -- two weeks, with an extra weekend.

It was as though Russell had sensed that the two of them were dangerously close to burnout, and that they needed some time away -- from work, and from Vegas in general.

He'd even suggested that they go to Paris, to see some place that was completely different from where they lived. Ryan could swear that there had been a twinkle in his eyes when he'd mentioned that the city was not only known for art and culture, but for romance.

Yes, Russell probably knew about his relationship with Greg -- or at least guessed at the truth. But he was a good person, and he wouldn't censure them for it.

They'd have no problems with Russell, which was a relief.

Now that they were actually here in Paris, in the city of light, they could lie down and relax for a while. They had plenty of time ahead of them to see the sights.

There was so much to do here that Ryan doubted they could do it all in twelve days, but they would try. He was determined that they would both enjoy their time here to the fullest, but for right now, it was best if they tried to unwind and get some rest.

The lights of the city could wait until tomorrow, when they were rested and it was daylight. He just hoped that Greg's exuberance would last, and keep bubbling over.

But first, he wanted them both to get some rest so they would be refreshed in the morning.
