Greg turned off the vacuum and stood with his hands on his hips, looking around at the living room carpet and feeling that he'd done a good job of cleaning up. Not that the apartment had been messy, but he liked to keep things dust-free as much as possible.

He hauled the vacuum back to the hall closet and stowed it away, closing the door and heading to the kitchen to pour himself a glass of tea now that the cleaning was done. Ryan had gone to the grocery store; Greg had said he would stay behind to get the housecleaning done.

This was usually something that he hated doing -- but now that he was living with Ryan, it had become less of a chore. It was easy to do housework when he knew that he was doing it to keep their communal living space a pleasant place for them both to reside in.

It was easy to do things for Ryan, because Ryan did so much for him. There were times when he would be the one to do the grocery shopping, and Ryan would take care of the housework. And then there were times when they would go shopping together, which was always fun.

It was so easy to be with Ryan, Greg thought with a smile as he leaned against the counter and downed his glass of tea. It was easy to live with him, easy to be around him -- and very, very easy to love him. Ryan was the kind of person who it was impossible not to love.

Was he the only person who saw his boyfriend in that way? He didn't think so; everybody at the crime lab had accepted Ryan as one of the team from the very beginning, and they all enjoyed having him there. He was easy to work with, too -- everyone said so.

He had always thought that falling in love would take time, that he would grow to love the person he was meant to spend his life with. That hadn't been the case with Ryan -- he'd fallen for his lover from that first smile, from that first hello, that first touch.

Ryan had been incredibly easy to fall in love with -- and it was easy to maintain that love. He had never even considered looking at anyone else since he'd first met Ryan; no one else, not even models or movie stars, could compare with the man who was by his side.

He'd never felt that way about anyone before, Greg thought with a smile. Ryan was the only man who had completely captured his heart and soul -- and he knew that no one else ever would. He had found the person he was intended for, and he was never going to leave.

It still amazed him that Ryan had been single and heart-whole when he'd come here to Vegas. How could he have lived in Miami for so long and not have had a relationship that worked? The people in Miami must have been crazy, Greg told himself, shaking his head in wonderment.

He hated to think that Ryan had been lonely when he'd lived there -- but of course he hadn't. He might not have had any relationship that had worked out for any length of time, but he'd dated different people. It wasn't as though he'd been completely unwanted.

Unlike himself, Greg thought with a sigh as he rinsed out his glass and set it on the counter. He hadn't really been unwanted, per se, but his inability to let anyone get close to him had driven away a lot of potential relationships. But in the end, he was glad that it had.

If he had been seeing anyone when he'd first met Ryan, he would have had to turn away from the man who had always been destined to be the love of his life. Either that, or else break up with the person he was dating -- because he would never cheat on anyone he was involved with.

Ryan would never do that, either. Ryan was the kind of man who only gave his heart and soul once, to one person -- and when he did, it was forever. Greg knew that he himself was the same way, which was only one of the things that made them such a perfect couple.

Falling in love with Ryan had been the best thing he'd ever done for himself -- even better than coming here to Vegas and working in the crime lab. He had carved out a life for himself here, but it had been somewhat of an empty life before he'd met Ryan.

Ryan had filled his life with love, laughter and joy -- and hope for the future. Ryan had become the center of his universe, and Greg had no regrets about choosing to be with him. How could he possibly have any regrets about loving and being as loved as he was?

No one had ever loved him in the way that Ryan did -- and if he hadn't met Ryan, he was sure that no one ever would have. What they shared was something unique that he knew no one else could have ever given him, and he was never letting go of that.

Could he ever have loved another person as completely and as fiercely as he loved Ryan if the two of them had never met? Greg was sure that he couldn't have. No one else could be Ryan; he couldn't love anyone else in the same way that he loved his boyfriend.

He had never thought that falling in love would be easy -- but Ryan had proved him wrong. Falling in love with Ryan had been the easiest thing that he'd ever done in his life, and every day he fell even more in love with his boyfriend. He couldn't imagine anything being easier.

Ryan might not see himself as being lovable a lot of the time, but to Greg, no one else could be more worthy of being loved. Ryan had been through so much, yet he hadn't let any of it disillusion him, or turn him in a hard and bitter man. He was still an open, loving person.

Greg hoped that he was like that, too. He'd lived through a horrible, traumatizing experience years ago, but he had tried his best not to let it turn him into a bitter person who was closed off to the possibilities of love and laughter. He had tried not to become disillusioned, even though it hadn't been easy.

He had managed to hold on to the hope of having a good relationship -- and just when he had least expected to find one, the best relationship he could possibly have had simply dropped into his lap. Fate had finally smiled on him, in the person of Ryan Wolfe.

It had been so easy to let himself fall in love with Ryan -- and at the time, he hadn't even realized that he was doing so. He'd just let himself go, falling into the lure of those eyes, that smile, that touch. Love had found him when he'd least expected it, and he was grateful that it had.

He still needed to put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher before Ryan came home; he'd been standing here thinking about his boyfriend for so long that Ryan would be back at any moment. Greg hurriedly began picking up the dishes, getting them into the dishwasher and adding the detergent.

Once Ryan got back home, they would unpack the groceries and put them away together, then go about the business of making dinner. They'd spend the evening together, sitting on the couch watching a movie, laughing and loving and simply enjoying being a couple.

Oh yes, Ryan was easy to love, Greg told himself with a soft smile. Falling in love had been the easiest thing that he'd ever done in his life -- because it was Ryan who he'd fallen in love with. And he had the definite feeling that he would keep falling, day after day, for the rest of his life.
