"Do you remember the first time we ever saw each other?" Greg asked, looking at Ryan over the rim of his coffee cup. They were sitting at a sidewalk table outside the café near their apartment complex, Wolfie at their feet under the table.

"How could I forget?" Ryan's lips curved as he brought the memory front and center into his mind; the image of Greg as he'd first seen him, sitting at his desk with an expectant smile on his face, holding out his hand to shake Ryan's as their eyes met for the first time.

He could remember that first sight of Greg like it was yesterday; he could still feel the rush of desire that had made him feel dizzy and disoriented, the feeling of wanting to fall at this man's feet and promise him the world, if only they could be together.

Love at first sight had never been something that Ryan had held much store in -- until it had happened to him. But he'd known from the first second he'd seen Greg that he was in love; he'd known that he had fallen, and that he never wanted to get to his feet again.

It had hit him like the proverbial ton of bricks, that first sight of Greg. Knowing that he wanted to spend his entire life with someone, to love and protect them until the end of time itself, had been a revelation to him, and something of a dream come true.

"I don't think I ever believed it was possible to fall in love with someone at first sight," he said, musing as if to himself. "I'd always thought that I had to get to know somebody before I could love them. That love was something that grew out of initial attraction."

"So what changed your mind?" Greg asked, taking a sip of his coffee and arching an eyebrow at Ryan. "I assume something did, because you definitely believe in love at first sight now. You tell me so all the time, and I don't think you're making it up."

"You changed my mind," Ryan said softly, focusing his gaze on Greg. He couldn't look away from those big brown eyes; there was something about Greg's direct, clear gaze that mesmerized him. "What I felt for you wasn't just physical attraction. It went so much deeper."

Greg nodded, not taking his gaze from Ryan's. "I felt the same way. All it took was one look at you, and it felt like a piece that had always been missing out of my life just fell into place. I knew from the first time I looked at you that I belonged to you."

"That's exactly how I felt," Ryan murmured, overwhelmed by the enormity of his emotions. Those feelings hadn't changed in the time that he and Greg had been together; if anything, they'd only grown stronger and more pronounced as they grew closer over time.

"I didn't even stop to think if it was just attraction," Greg continued, putting down his coffee mug and reaching across the table to take Ryan's hand in his, twining their fingers together. "I just .... knew that you were the one for me. Without even thinking about it."

Ryan nodded, feeling a little choked up. He had to take a deep breath and swallow hard before he could make himself speak again; no one had ever said words like this to him before, and he had never felt so loved as he did at this moment.

What would his life have been like if he hadn't come here to Las Vegas, and had never met Greg? He'd still be in Miami, living a life that satisfied him in some respects, but never could in others. He'd still be alone, and he would probably never find love.

Oh, he might have found someone who he cared for -- but he'd never have known the all-encompassing love that he felt for Greg. And he would never have been loved in the way that this man loved him. Ryan was more sure of that then he'd ever been of anything.

Greg was the only person who had ever -- and could ever -- love him with that unwavering love that he'd felt since they had taken their first steps towards each other. No one else could be what Greg was to him; if he'd never come here, he would have spent his life without that love.

Ryan felt a shudder go through his body at the thought; he didn't want to contemplate the fact that he so easily could have gone through life without ever findng Greg. All it would have taken was one bad decision to stay in Miami, and he'd have missed out on so much.

Coming here had been the best thing he'd ever done. It had given him a new start -- and it had given him Greg. His boyfriend was the best thing that had ever happened to him; without Greg, he wouldn't feel as though he was a complete person.

"The first thing I noticed about you was your eyes," Greg said, snapping Ryan out of his thoughts and into the present moment. "You have the most incredible deep green eyes I've ever seen. I thought I could fall into those eyes and stay there forever."

"I don't know what the first thing I noticed about you was," Ryan murmured. "I wasn't just one thing, Greg. It was .... everything. It was like you suddenly filled my universe, and you were all I could see or think about. You overwhelmed me. And I knew I loved you."

"I loved you at first sight," Greg whispered, his fingers tightening on Ryan's. "I might not have known it in quite those terms, but my heart knew. I didn't have any doubt that you and I belonged together -- and that I'd be with you. I just knew it, from that first moment."

"So did I." Ryan's voice was stronger now; the urge to let tears rise to the surface was gone. "I knew you were the love of my life from the first moment I met you, Greg. I don't know how; I just .... knew. From the first time you smiled at me."

"When you touched my hand, there was this electricity that went through me," Greg told him with a soft smile. "And it's still there. Every time we touch, every time I look at you, there's a spark. I hope it's always there. I can't imagine touching you without it."

"I think it's always going to be there," Ryan told him, curling his fingers around Greg's. "I can't imagine not feeling that spark of desire whenever I touch you, Greg. Not just desire," he added, squeezing his lover's hand gently. "Far from it. That's a spark of love."

Greg's answering smile took his his breath away; it was the same smile that had captured his heart from that first moment he'd set eyes on Greg, the smile that had melted his heart. That smile would continue to touch his heart and soul for the rest of his life.

Once again, he found himself thanking whatever fate had led him here to Las Vegas and into Greg's arms. If this had been his destiny, then he was more than happy with it; he would never want to change anything about the life they shared.

"Come on," he said softly, getting to his feet without taking his hand from Greg's, wrapping Wolfie's leash around his wrist. "Let's go home so we can let those sparks flare up even more." All he could think of was kissing Greg -- and he wanted to have privacy to do even more.
